I’m aware of both the slowing down hand signal and the left turn hand signal.  As for a left turn whilst slowing down, the only person I’ve seen do that is the Queen, although ironically she was been driven at the time

I often wonder how long it takes updates to the Highway Code to reach community immunity.
I was following a van the other day, not too close, and it seemed to slow down, no brake lights shown.   Then it was clear it was slowing significantly, easily measured by the diminishing gap in front of me.  I then noticed the drivers hand out of the drivers window, the arm and hand being rotated in a circular motion.  I thought, ahah, brake lights an indicators are out, it's not often you see hand signals these days, well not a left turn hand signal anyway, plenty of others.
I relayed the story to a variety of age folk, and demonstrated the hand signal.  not one knew what the hand signal was.  Many offered more modern examples of hand signals that they had seen.

A good old school scrappy that allows you to rummage and remove is great if they have a good stock cars.
the last major component I had out of our old school yard was a Rover 25 gearbox.  The forklift driver just dragged the car out for me and tipped it on its side, easiest gearbox removal I've ever done.
i remember years ago at a different yard, I phoned about a gearbox for a car I'd seen on the pile.  The response was so strange and convoluted I was left wondering if I'd dialled the local, supermarket or something.   In the end I just said to the geezer "tell you what mate, just fuck off" to which I got a response, so I repeated "I said just fuck off mate" put the phone down 'click' and never went back there ever again.  That was 30 years ago mind.  I think they did fuck off as well, went bust I think, not surprised, all I asked was how much for the gearbox and would you take the car off the top,of the pile.
i got my gearbox a couple of days later from a private guy who was dismantling his car, he'd had an off in it.  In fact I had the gearbox, prop,  back axle and a rake of stuff for peanuts.  I had to take it out myself though.  I piled my engine crane into an old MK3 Cortina Estate, went round and hoisted the lot out on his drive, then piled it all into the MK3 Cortina, it was a bit low on the rear suspension mind you with all the weight in it.

heres a big ol writeup I did on how the DVLA do date-less age related plates which will hopefully explain a few things  (make sure you click the expand button LOL)

with regards to the OP, it depends on how the vintage vehicle was registered, the V5c of the vehicle will state if the registration mark is non transferable
if it was registered via the V765 scheme or is already on an age related plate it wont be transferable, well really old age related plates where originally transferable but the DVLA eventually stopped that because people where just abusing the system and repeatedly robbing the same vehicle over and over,
as above the V5c will say pretty clearly in the special notes section, if that section is blank then you can transfer the registration mark following the usual DVLA procedure https://www.gov.uk/personalised-vehicle-registration-numbers/take-private-number-off

not that I approve of plate robbery!, Not only do I think a vehicles registration mark is part of its history/identity.  I find it especially sad when a vehicle which has managed to hold onto its mark for the past 50+ years gets robbed of that mark just to make a quick buck
but its also a real pain in the arse when im conducting historic vehicle research, to try and chase a vehicle and only find out its been robbed of its plate etc etc
(and I best stop there before I get onto my soap box LOL)

here is a question, recently had to replace a hid on the ovlov, new bulb is a lot brighter than the old one, both are same wattage, do hid's lose brightness with age or becausee its a new bulb it is just brighter

the milky white deposits indicates a fast/complete air leak like a crack/broken bulb, a completely failed glass to metal seal or something such
(a hot tungsten filament will react with air to form tungsten trioxide)
and the dark blue/black despots on the one on the far right indicate a slow air leak like a leaky glass to metal seal for the lead in wires
(when there is a very slow leak Tungsten pentoxide is formed instead which has a smokey dark blue colour)
so simply a bad run in with either damaged or defective bulbs, when stored properly lightbulbs dont have any sort of realistic shelf life, the oldest Lightbulb in my collection, from 1893 works just fine

Jag washer pumps, "fail" on a regular basis and ironically when they have been lavished with loads of screenwash additive.  I snip the pipe near the bulkhead (to make it convenient) and using a dinky tyre compressor blow down the pipe until the air is spinning the motor. (I then blow the other way to clear the jets).  Join the pipes with a joiner from Amazon or your friendly aquarium shop and that normally does the trick.

I have had a 2.0 Pezza V6 that i’ve taken to 220k miles and it’s on the original clutch.
in that time, it needed tyres, pads, front discs, wiper blades, waterpump, rear arb droplink, 2 * heated oxygen sensors  a set of sparkplugs and an expansion tank.  A sill repair

All the fifties and sixties middle of the road tackle. A lot of the old hands that liked these have died off, a whole new market isn’t there in most cases, those with the money in their hands are in their 40’s/50’s etc and buying the cars they hankered after in their 20’s hence prices for Cosworths etc have gone into stratosphere.
