Yep, m110 straight six. I could get it down to about 17mpg if I tried and as high as 25mpg if I tried the other way 🙂

My 230E has a manual 5 speed ‘box. I don’t think I’ve ever had less than 30MPG out of it and on a gentle run it can almost break 40MPG.

Apropos to nothing, I once had a prisoner who murdered his wife and the police never found the body, 10 years they looked and looked and never found the body.
Then suddenly he told his solicitor to arrange a meeting with the police.
He said he would take them to where his wifes body was.
He took them to an area of farmland and told them to dig a hole 20 foot deep - they did, and there she was.

He owned a firm that rented out diggers and other light plant.

I back onto fields,there is a digger hire firm not far away....

Recently sold Lorinser 500 SEC probably 2nd coolest but I can't find any pics of the 1992 Corvette LT1 I had for years which got all the comments and pics. High ratings for Monza GS/E and Alfa Sprint Veloce as well

Almost 25 years ago I bought this:

most people would probably think this was the coolest car I had owned, especially then as it was nearly new. A few months later I bought this as a daily driver, I consider it far more cool but I am not cool.

This one I bought 11 years later is probably the coolest in my opinion:

My Dad had a few robins and a rialto because he only had a bike license. We went all over the north on days out as kids. The way he drove I'd be fucking terrified in one now.

He used to regularly have one of the back wheels lifting on country lanes. He rolled one once ,hit a hedge and it bounced off back onto it's wheels. Was completely fucked door handles missing etc. He still drove it home and traded it in for another the next day.

Mines probably this. Maybe not the coolest car ever but made me feel cool as milk when I was in my early 20s, only car I've ever owned that girls were actually interested in. 

Again because of my age I really did feel like the coolest kid on the block breaking down every 5 miles in this fucker aged 17 when everyone else was driving a fairly reliable Metro City.

Christ, can't be many of them left now.  A car I have a big soft spot for as my folks had one in the early 90s.  Felt incredibly plush inside coming from Metros/Novas beforehand, especially in SGL Maxima spec that ours was.  

 

Was thinking about this thread again earlier after talking to someone in a car park again this afternoon.  Based purely on the reactions and comments/conversations with passers by, random waves and thumbs up from passers by and patrons at shows, the coolest car I've owned is the one which objectively probably should be the least cool.

By a country mile it's the car I've owned that gets the most attention when out and about - and kind of to my surprise almost invariably positive.

Though where you draw the line between "likeable" and "cool" I'll leave for you to decide.

If I still had the Jag I would still have decision paralysis about which one I wanted to drive a lot of the time.  Yes I know I'm strange.

Is the brown MK4 the superspeed? Rember back in the 90s when Alan in the Cortina OC had it.

A not very good pic of my 1992 Corvette LT1 camping at the the Nurburgring  N24 probably May 2013, if cool is defined by attention in car parks and petrol stations this easily beat the red Lorinser Merc I posted a few listings ago. Marvellously uncouth with those SS exhausts, it was a non winter daily for 6 or 7 years. Pic from depths of AS!

The 353W next to it was owned by a mate who had come over from Halle in East Germany to live and bought his Wartburg with him.  He also learned to speak English from bootleg copies of Monty Python that he managed to acquire before the wall came down. He ended up moving to Belfast (for a girl) and bought himself a Talbot Samba and a 1500 Maxi.
