I met most people who parked on the autoshite section I think, except for @RoverFolkUs who has a lovely 620 that’s a real credit to him,

Thank you! I must try harder next time - it was my first visit to the museum and I got too absorbed 😅

Great to see all the Rustival photos - looks like an eclectic mix of motors.

Who owns the beige A plate BX now - is it still on here? Same question for the red Stellar, too. What a gem!

Had a chat with the BX guys, the owners after our Zel. They've done a grand job fixing it up with parts from Up and Down vids, new door cards and solved the suspension issues. Great to see it. A highlight.

I'm gutted that I didn't make this again, my MR2 went in for welding today so I wasn't able to go.

My mate was there with a Maestro that I helped him pulled out of a garden a couple of months ago after being in their garage since 1991, not sure if anyone saw it?

What a superb day!
Rustival was ace as ever. Great cars, lovely people, such an ace relaxed atmosphere!

I felt I made the right choice of motor. The Saab got rather a lot of attention! And behaved impeccably.

I took a few pictures… not many.

I did shoot a video… I’ll post the link when I’ve posted it.

Superb to meet shiters both those I’ve met before and new faces!

Special thanks to @Sunny Jim for arranging the stand and showing up to hear me waffle on on the creator stage!  And of course to @dollywobbler and the other organisers.

Edited to add: getting caught in a heavy downpour on the M42 with the roof down was probably the highlight of the journey home… I was dry as a bone travelling at 60… but other roadusers thought it was hilarious…

Had a great day, went with some friends and had our own little convoy. My MX-5, @MrBig's off-road MX-5, our mate's Morris Minor and our other mate's VW T3 panel van.

I can't be sure but I think @RoverFolkUs came bombing past us on the M40 at one point!

Great to see folks although there were a few of you I managed to miss. A grand day out; lovely weather, great selection of cars and a wonderful selection of people. The event has grown but keeps its friendly ethos.

Huge thanks to @dollywobbler and the other organisers for a job well done. See you at the next one.

A few concerned folk pointed out the puddle that appeared under The Grim Sleeper when it was parked there alongside Rev. Mat, Rico and I had a good look in the engine bay and couldn't see anything amiss and there was no sign of where it might be dripping from underneath.

Eventually I dipped my finger in it, it was clear, didn't smell of anything and tasted like water. It was then that I remembered that somebody had kicked the dog's water bowl over earlier in the day. The water ran under the hearse and because it was in the shade all day the puddle didn't evaporate.*

* working hypothesis - hearse made it to my Dad's in Chesterfield last night without overheating. Turns out visiting a couple in the eighties in a hearse sets the village WhatsApp group alight!

Yes saw it, it looked salvageable - not rusty in usual places

When I was living at home many years ago, l noticed the same thing next to my car, puddle mysteriously appeared near a wheel. Dipped a finger in it, not oily. Tasted it, not sweet, a bit salty perhaps? It was the that my Dad appeared - with the dog he had just taken out for a walk and I had a horrible realisation what I had just tasted..

Kudos if you can spot the way in which AI made a change to the cover photo of the Rancho which I was not expecting…. (I told it to insert the Invacar so it’s not that!)

Also…who knew that being strawberry blond and spending 6 hours in a convertible plus 6 hours at the show without suncream would lead to a glowing red forehead today…. Ah… bugger.

glad someone managed to pap me on the Motorway, to properly break the internet with :)

the motorway comments are particularly amusing as all it does to me is portray that people have never really studied the highway code or rules/regulations properly!, even the full bodied Villiers machines weigh more than 254Kg and can thus legally be taken on a motorway,!

although I do love how always in the sea of bullshit, there will be someone who remembers from period correctly :) for example from @dollywobbler's FB post, I love this little anecdote!

I read the phrase the 'permanently agitated' for these kinds of people who patrol the internet and post b/s.

Think it fits them well.

The Permanently Agitated.😂

Good luck to them.

I can't put my finger on what it is but AI has definitely made that Rancho look a bit odd. It looks more like a computer-generated 3D model than an actual car.

🤣 I noticed that, nearly said something, but then traced the 'leak' to the dog bowl on the other side of the car so shut up. Could have saved you the worry!

Sure it was just a 'dog bowl'? 😂

Gutted I missed this. Obviously the Volvo is now working and it would've been a nice run to try and clear the tappets on the 944 if I'd managed to get that tested.

Although LightBulbFun's car probably garnered more attention than either of mine would've done, so the ticket definitely wasn't wasted. Glad everyone had a good time.

Just arrived back in Leeds, knackered!

Car was great though. Slight clonk from the rear end suggests those rear ARB bushes need sorting.

Phew!

I wanted to go to this but things are a bit up in the air with income. Maybe Rustival 5.

Would certainly like to go to Festival Of The Unexceptional.

It’s actually nothing to do with the Rancho…

It's made a weird grille on the Fiat, lost the spotlights and changed the number plate. I like playing spot the difference lol.

So do I, but it’s changed the Fiat to a Toyota!
