somewhatfoolish Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Old people and non-car people were the target market for these; the sales leant heavily on low price and a long warranty to compensate for selling warmed over GM designs from a maker no one in the UK had heard of in the 90s . Sweet as a nut otherwise though. @Dyslexic Viking it's proper giffer spec, same owner for most of its life. Dyslexic Viking, sdkrc and Wibble 2 1
AnnoyingPentium Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Returned home. Vectra didn't miss a beat over the 450 or so miles covered today. That big car still impresses me. Nexia has been parked up with my mate, just to keep an eye on it till it's stored somewhere out the way. Took it for a wee razz round about Largs, basically faultless. We've got a screeching fan belt occasionally, but that seems to be the only issue with it, and the seller was upfront about anything he thought would be even of a slightest concern - which is nice... Yous will have seen that it's got Corsa C alloy wheels on it, undecided whether we'll refit the original Daewoo steel wheels (they came with the car) and sell the Corsa alloys, or if we'll leave it as is. Bodywork wise, there's a few wee imperfection here and there but for the most part it's pretty spot on. Dick Cheeseburger, GrumpiusMaximus, tooSavvy and 10 others 13

jonathan_dyane Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Looks great! I'd keep the alloys on until the tyres were nearly at the limit then ditch them. AnnoyingPentium 1
sierraman Posted January 13 Posted January 13 A Daewoo Nexia! I thought these had all died? I remember my dad considering one when they first came out we went and picked up all the brochures and then remembered we didn’t have any money to buy one. 🤣 I’d love to find one of the saloons they did? Wouldn't say they are in the triple digits in number. A GLI three door is rare now. Well ANY three door Nexia is rare. Most were fodder for the MK2 Astra crowd to reshell or a panel donor for an Astra GTE. Mechanical parts are easy to find. Just watch for the more specific Daewoo gear. Expand Between just using as is, or chucking a little bit of money at it to properly make it tidy. It doesn't need much doing to it really. Giffer spec AA badge will likely come off as I fair fancy it for my Vectra. @PicantoJon has one for me that's the newer 1980s square ones, so I might chuck that on there. Wheel trims are rocking horse shit, I'll either get a set of later Kalos or similar 13" ones, or just a set of 90s universals (not modern ones, ideally). Ian: "Hey do you want to go halfers on-" Me: "Fuck aye" And that's why the known number of Nexias in Scotland now stands at three (including the Astra GTE rep).

AnnoyingPentium Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 Was out with the Sloth of Magnificence yesterday. Just a wee jaunt from where it's stored down to Irvine and back again. 44 miles round trip. That was my first proper drive of it also, and I've had some thoughts on it. Here's the problems, thus far: PWR Light on: indicates a gearbox fault - looking like the selector switch is goosed. It shuffles through the gears fine but sometimes it's clunky as fook. Wobbly at speed: wheel balancing, probably. Those Corsa alloys are a bit rough anyway. Original steels going back on soon if I can get some part-worns for it. And you know, the good: Fuck me, it shifts if you nail it. Really rev happy in the same way the Vectra is. It's pretty cool, in a shite sort of way. It somehow goes round corners. Winning. Hoping to have it out again on Friday. Was in Tesco, and saw one of those wee waving chinese cat thingies, so money was parted with, for a cat, and blu-tack... Listened to some giffer tunes (Manhattan Transfer, do they count as giffer?), and plodding along at slightly less than the speed limit has been pretty fun.
