Ermmmmmmm sure it has 2 fours in its name but these were strictly rear wheel drive courtesy of the gearbox being in the boot.

Jaguar have offered 4x4 versions of the XF and XJ in LHD markets since 2013. Similarly Mercedes offer 4wd S Classes to Johnny Foreigner.

MkIV Ford Zephyr 6 - with 4x4 and ABS.

Built as a small batch for police evaluation purposes by Harry Ferguson Research, and using the same set-up that had appeared in the Jensen Interceptor FF from 1966 on.

Ahead of its time - or a white elephant?

That's just reminded me - one of my dad's friends used to own one of those when I was a kid, I never knew it was 4WD back then!  Will try and see if we have any photos I can scan in.

Are you sure it was one of the FF Police ones, I’m sure I remember reading that none were released to the public with only the TRRL one surviving.

Iirc the Mondeo,405 and Cavalier were released in case a 4x4 was needed to complete with Audi in the BTCC.

Yeah, I've got one and I was pissed when I posted last night, but it's a nice idea. And it's a pic of a 944 in a field.

Hippy xmas.

Only 20 were made with that one being the only survivor, I think one EST was done too.

For some reason, in the U.K. Peugeot only sold the 4x4 as a one up from base GL or Mi16. They did however all come with BX rear suspension. Not that anyone bought one.

My scout leader bought a GLx4. Then bought a Cavalier 4x4 (GL?) afterwards.

Nothing on it to indicate it's a 4x4 but it is. Apparently these are very capable on tarmac with the 4x4 system but in mud ?

You could get the 4x4  XE and XF in right hand drive too

Subaru Justy. Basically looked like a Micra of the time in every way., except 4WD.

Doesn't the 405 4x4 predate that era of BTCC?  It also presumably uses a few of the oily bits from the BX 4x4.

It copes well with wet grass verges as well. Great in grassy wet car parks. Don't know what it's like in snow. Still waiting for it to snow round here! :)

I've actually seen a RHD one.

And there were 4x4 versions of the Sierra, of course.

Ferguson (of Jensen FF fame) did a 4x4 conversion on the MK1 Senator and Royale.

Must be tough 4x4 systems they use, those V10 trucks have torque forever

Mercedes 300E 4Matic. Used some bizarre spring set up at the front where the driveshaft went through the spring.

Did they make these 4 wheel drive purely to spare it the indignity of being a FWD Jaaaaaaag?
