Your price of diesel is the best I've seen for petrol within 20 miles of here (Southam).

It's definitely come down a bit though, got used to about £1.43 for dizzel

well under 1.35 even in rural scotland for pez - roond here in east yorks (i have to fill up tomorrow) its 1.33 1.35

theres a bp on the east lancs and all the places local to me 5-6 years ago were 58-65ppl

for some odd reason he was 80.9

years went on and 3 ish years ago all the others were 65p ish

he went up to 108.9 and its been like that since - not passed it for a while but i bet hes 129.9 now :D

other places seen are 80p

saw places last coupla days (it was a morrisons) and 129.9

Over here it’s ~72p.

For comparison, unleaded is £1.27 and diesel £1.38, both went down some 10p in the past month or so.

Where they get you here with LPG is 5 year re-test and 10 year tank replacement, so people mostly gave up.

I've been following the reports of this 129.9 rolling out across the country. I haven't run anything on LPG since selling my L322 in 2017. I was looking at LPG'd ones again a few weeks ago but the filling options at any price are more limited than ever. Where we are is perfect for a home fill tank but I was quoted £15k+VAT for one.

Dacia currently sell dual fuel new cars. I noticed the Duster company cars of a firm I visited in West Cumbria a few months ago were all dual fuel Dusters. The nearest LPG forecourt to there is an hour's drive in any direction, and their patch is the 'energy coast' so I doubt any of them have ever run on it.

Can I ask who quoted that price for a tank, I assume that was for a commercial station set up and calibrated pump for that cost?  Brum gas were about £5k, if you have your own tank it's much less

It's been 80p here since COVID & 99p a mile nearer motorway ,esso other side of down is in the £1.30's as always been expensive there.

If government really cared about the environment they should be promoting it's use.

Been running my falcon (LPG only)  10 years along with various others for 20 Inc my 5.0 cortina.

That was MDM services in Wales. It was what they called a Home fill tank, so I'd expect not to be a calibrated pump or anything.

Did seem a bit excessive. My new to me diesel Rangie is arriving on Monday, as a result. 🤔

Nah, LPG has always been a thing for those of us who want a V8 but don't want to pay the fuel costs.

In the last 15 years I've had

2x 4.7 Grand Cherokees

4.2V8 Audi S4

4.0 Ford Exploder (only a V6 to be fair)

And the mighty 4.4 Rangey.

All (apart from the current Jeep) able to be ran for the cost of a petrol car doing circa 30mpg.

Sadly that's not possible any more.

Have done veg too, it kept me mobile when things had turned to shit for me so I've happy memories of it. Not so much of the smell and stickiness of it though 🤣

I don't normally look in here as it's massive binfire generally, this post would be worth moving to the general forum I'd say?

I still have my Heep on lpg but it does very few miles. Going forward those miles will be on petrol as Morrisons was my main supplier around here. Cunts

Do you know of other suppliers in Fife?

I encouraged my friend, also in Fife, to buy a dual fuel 2022 Sandero recently, they are a fairly common newish factory LPG car.

I didn't realise how few LPG filling stations there are now and with this price hike it's pointless running it on LPG. 45mpg on LPG, 55mpg on petrol.

In Bg it's 45ppl at our local station, with unleaded at £1.10 and diesel at £1.15.

Every station had lpg, some are lpg only !

It lets us run the 3.0 Legacy as a normal daily, getting 375km to a 50ltr tank as an average.

I remember my veg days and think I had the last of the best of times and at the right time.

Brand new veg was 70ppl in asda on average, I'd buy 6 5l bottles at a time and that would do me for a month! Always a quip about 'having a party are you? " at the till. Sometimes I'd find some 'out of date' bottles for 20p for 5l and buy them all! Was tipping bottle in using a funnel in asda car park at 7.15am on my way to work before it was cool and that xantia owner got in the papers doing it! Eid and Ramadan and Xmas etc all bought good offers, and at work my birthday who round was given to me on an asda gift card so I got £60/70 free fuel there too!

And thats before the used veg that would slosh around a shitefest or FoD like cheap beer! @KruJoewould take orders and turn up with hundreds of gallons! All the veg cars had a small pile of containers by them all weekend waiting to be taken home/tipped in there and then 😂

I tried some heating oil once too I got from free cycle, my zx didn't like that much but it ran! Burnt through it really fast though and it stank. I also rememebr my stepmums laughter as they did a kitchen clean out when I was there once and found various cooking oils, all long expired. Into the zx they went. One was coconut oil and that smelt gorgeous!

Now I look in asda/tesco at veg and feel it's probably not far off plain diesel now. It's either home brew yourself like @Talbot does or just buy a 40mpg petrol nowadays I feel.

As usual, Serbia with most expensive prices in the region. 🙄

I have LPG in Florida, but I actively consider it a detriment when looking at the car, because they’re usually out of test and require faffing with tanks, specialists and are being PITA in general. Not to mention many installations are so ugly and turning the boot into something absolutely useless as someone shoved 80 or 120 liter bottle into the back of a small hatchback, obliterating any useful space in there, or any idea of extending it by lowering rear seats. I’m looking at Lancia Delta II for pennies, and would’ve jumped on it already if it wasn’t LPG converted because I really really can’t be bothered.

Oh, ripping it out requires car being re-certified, and as it’s not just a fuel certification but a whole car certification it needs to be absolutely stock otherwise it’s a fail.

There's a couple of apps you can get, I use autogas app and there's also Filllpg. They rely on users updating prices so aren't perfect but are all we have.

Autogas app showing Fife.

I'm seeing all these 129.9 prices and wondering if the people setting the prices actually realise that to be competitive, it needs to be at least 20% cheaper.  It does look as if the price is set to be 'just a little bit cheaper than petrol'.

I think the problem for people  actually fuelling their cars is that the majority of their sales will be to folk with campers who'll just fill up their small tanks for heating/cooking and deal with the price as they're not putting in that much and their choices are limited.

The company are price gouging, quite simply.

That's a good point.  I don't know about 'the majority' but you make a good point about a residual sales level who will be relatively indifferent to the price.

@DodgeRover, could you pls post that link to the CMA?

The Morrisons I relied on for LPG (used to have a choice of three on my regular routes) has also gone to 1.30/L.  I just drove through and have been munching through petrol since.

Morrisons sold their petrol stations a few months back to MFG so it was inevitable the new owners would like to get rid of it as it is sadly a low volume produce compared to petrol/diesel now, and I’m sure the space for the tank could get a few electric car chargers in it.

Flogas have been unwilling to fix the one at the Shell next to my work.

Volvo offered dual/LPG for a while, as did LDV while they were still flogging warmed-over sherpas.

Volvo also offered CNG! I've never seen one but they did exist.

LDV shifted a lot of LPG vans - it's a shame they used a cutting edge type kit which ultimately proved unreliable further down the line.

There’s much talk about this on LPG Facebook groups. The theory is the price has been bumped up to kill demand and retailers can then remove LPG pumps as there’s no demand for them. Many are getting replaced with charging stations anyway.

Some LPG fans are making their own contraptions where they can transfer gas from those big calor bottles into their car, illegally I presume.

I can't remember when I last saw a petrol station showing an LPG price

It's not illegal to transfer LPG from bottles.

The excise man might differ on whether there's tax to be paid on the proceedings, but fortunately successive govts have cut headcount at HMRC so they couldn't catch you at it even if they wanted to and no one's worked out how to dye LPG red yet. 🤣
