I painted a bit on the back off the roof as well and the paint match is absolutely shocking, it's a mile out. The guy at the paint shop did it by eye and it looked ok at the time but it's bad. Still, at least the whole car is brown now which is an improvement. I'm gonna put it in the Ashover show at the end of July if anyone fancies checking it out!!!

Some of my paint efforts turn out better than others. Refitted the OSF  wing on the 929 today after spending ages (like weeks) tapping/filling/sanding/painting/lacquering it

GR9.... Wish I was having as much success 'respraying' the tribute model. Bloody car-size aerosol paint delivery causes problems 😕...

Too much paint and it runs into drips...

I have to go back to the UK at some point in June, probably the end.

If you want something FR registered driving back, you don’t want to do it yourself for some reason and it is relatively local (within a hour or so of 22800) then sign me up as long as it is likely to get me to the ferry.

Bonus points if it is brown or orange.

I might be an hour and a quarter away in the summer.  Lemme have a think how I might get a windscreen safely on the trailer with five bikes and tout le vin

@loserone The actual current plan is to attend La Shitefest this summer then drive to wherever I can find one but figured it can't hurt to ask around!

Annoyingly there was one for sale in Caen that sold just before I messaged, two days before I drove past with work.  Everything else was 2+ hours further south than the destination and the schedule was too tight to get there.

Still bobbing about in this, ‘Brown Car’ survived an outdoor Derbyshire winter thankfully, (although I don’t think it enjoyed it very much). Had a go at its rotten rear door yesterday. I’ve also changed a leaky oil pressure sensor and chucked away the battery isolator switch, which kept causing embarrassing non-starts. Otherwise I’ve barely touched it spanner-wise, I just jump in and drive it (mostly to B&Q). I've never even checked the points gap!

I've recently seen a Mr. Goodpliers junkyard video somewhere in the middle of nowhere, US and it had one of these sitting there in a field. I know small French cars were a thing in the States for a little while but it seems to be one of the unlikeliest places to find a Simca.

Imported for a time into the US by Chrysler. Along with some of the old Rootes offerings. The Avenger was rebadged as a Plymouth and some Sunbeams were sold.

All came to an end with the PSA takeover in 1978 and Chrysler exiting European car production.

I will be going to Nantes airport in a couple of weeks and then again in a month.

It wouldn’t be a huge detour but bringing it back in one piece when we come back in a car in October may be a challenge but not impossible. What is it for? A Renault 12? If it is toughened then thats a big risk, laminated a bit more likely to survive.

12 month anniversary update!!!! Yes it's a year since my little adventure to fetch the brown bomber back to Blighty. Here it is today helping me collect a new £4 shirt off Vinted #Ballin'

Not a lot to report though tbh. I've welded up and painted the rusty rear LH door (you can see the 7/10 paint match in the pic) but apart from that I just jump in it and drive it! Everything on it s still working except the screen wash jets, but I just carry a garden mister spray thing and blast that onto the screen while sat in traffic occasionally.  I'll sort that eventually.

It's been great to own this thing. Just no trouble. I bob about in it like any other motor, often go to work in it (100 mile round trip) . The interior is full of pop cans and Greggs wrappers which infuriates Mrs_Nutz but i like the 'lived in look'. Always get loads of thumbs ups and "my dad had one of these" convos when i go out . Cheers!
