Absolutely!

I'm sorry, I think you dropped your crown there!

Joking aside. I'm glad you will!

It was left in high for a bit to try and bleed the system. It was then put to normal and held height for ages after stopped which is a good sign.

The back end is pretty harsh even on normal.

Ah, that's what mine was like before I had the spheres changed. Afterwards I was able to squish the back end down quite easily by standing on the bumper, then marvelled at how it magically floated back to normal height after a few seconds.

Fine work as always😁

Good progress! Is it stuck in high?

I thought I had it in intermediate height to make sure it didn't ground out being removed from it's hibernation spot, and also going over the ruts.  Only noticed it was in high once it was out.  Moved down to normal to get it down to the courtyard, but although the front went soft-ish, the rear was still very bouncy..  A couple of spheres will fix it, although I did note that it has the higher-quality re-fillable spheres fitted all round on this.  Does anyone still do sphere re-gassing?

Was it really balancing on two axle stands when the wheels were off? It looks sketch as :D

Also, what's the inside like, is it damp?

Posted

Three.  Two at the front, one under the towbar.

Given that some cars* only have three wheels, this seemed fine*

Sort of like a BX..

😁

It's survived remarkably well actually.  Aside from the normal influx of 8-legged creatures, it appears to have come out of it's storage fairly unscathed.

A bit I was working on yesterday above the bumper mount sort of exploded into sparks as I tried to weld it.

More stuff ripped off the car to gain access.

A tiny sliver of metal let in to fix that.

Then on to seam sealing hiding the shit welds with sealant.

Once you’re done with that one mate then head a bit further south and I’ve got three more for you to do 🤣

Well done on the progress! That’ll be a solid car in no time.

So that's that for this round of 'things we do for shit cars'.

BX wouldn't start this morning. Here is what the inside of the glow plug relay looked like.

Of course there is a poster that was released to show what happens when you try to start an XUD without glow plugs.

Jump lead direct to glow plug circuit and we're away.

I once started an XUD without the glow plugs working.

It took 5 people pushing it down a hill, and when it clattered into life I'm fairly sure I shortened all of their life expectancies by a significant amount...

Between the square and the xud clag I must have taken at least a decade off this weekend.

Started on a half turn. XUDs. They just work.

Sorted the rear arch.

Last little bit to go on top (it was only glued on from factory) then the plastic trim piece over it, so hopefully you won't see it.

Accidentally brought silicone sealant instead of Tigerseal so will need to get some in Central Milton Keynes (never seen anything like it).

The last bit of welding involves the chassis rail. Looking closer at it I don't think there's any way into it to do it properly, even if I drop the axle. So I might just plate over it and call it fixed.

Last closing piece done. It's mostly hidden so it doesn't have to be perfect. Minimal effort given.

PXL_20240615_154445905.jpg.4e7f56dcbb6ad0a022a13f0805344084.jpg

Close enough.

PXL_20240615_184041810.jpg.06e8675c00d12cb152a71bd26bcccf55.jpg

There is a plastic trim piece that covers this area but the one on the car was snapped. They are very difficult to come by now but miraculously there was another one in the car, just a different colour. Which is totally fine.

I'm evidently not worrying about presentation at the moment.

That's all for this weekend but I will be back again at the end of the month, possibly to finish it.

Remaining jobs.

Fix the rear chassis rail.

Fit 2 rear spheres.

Fit stainless exhaust I bought last year.

Fix the glow plug relay.

Put the front end back together.
