Yes me too, great news. The one behind me did look a bit scruffy for a few years although that may have been to do with wood pigeons scoffing the sweet leaves as they came out of their buds, which they have not done very much this year. So it's made a bit of a comeback!

Fuck the previous owner of the SVX, again:

Need to adjust the TPS as it's out of voltage range.

I can't get another TPS because the fucking Americans hoard them. No money anyway.

I'll get my mate to notch a couple of slits in them with a dremel and then replace.

Effective range (like a phased plasma rifle) is 0.45 to 0.55v, mine is at 0.44. Hey, just what you see here buddy.

It's really crucial the TPS is at the right voltage because the gearbox is electronically controlled. Then again, the only* thing people want in SVXs these days are fucked five speeds from a scrapyard Forester that defo hasn't been ragged to spack, so who cares about some gaylord TPS, right?

I've got 5 out the front that seem to be perfectly healthy.

I guess access is really bad to that @alcyonecorporation?

Looks like it might come undone with an impact driver? Unless it's going to smash the housing...😕

It's been heat soaked for the past 32 years and I really do not want to crack the housing as the last available TPS was going for £400 (cheers, you hoarding septic tossrags).

It's not where it is (though not that convenient) it's the mass of cables and wiring in the neighbourhood that worries me.

I know what that is and it is clearly not affected by it.

I had a quick look online and I would very much have grounds to make a complaint of illegal tree felling, not to mention a report of trespassing on railway property and causing a danger to passing trains. However I'm not that kind of person and I simply dont have the time, so it will remain a grump only.

However the gap in the trees is stark and especially visible at a distance. Network Rail have a permanent welfare unit right at this exact spot and there are regular groups of trackside workers in the area. They're going to notice, especially come winter time when the surrounding floor vegetation dies back and reveals piles of timber and branches. If they ever come to my door asking questions I'll be telling them what happened.

Your best bet would be to report the neighbour, so that they get a knock on the door from the British Transport Police and a firm telling to wind their f*cking necks in.

A load of residents in Bristol did this a few years back and had some blokes dicking about halfway up a steep embankment doing some unauthorised logging. Network Rail then had to clear it up at their (the taxpayers’) expense, of course.

If your man comes back then report the f*cker!

A warning to any who buy the cheap George/Asda jeans for scruffing around in, now £10 or 2 for £16 - the zips are now shorter, making it harder to reach in for the old chap.

All modern trousers are like this.

If anyone can recommend some that have a decent length fly I'd be grateful.

I know what you mean. Even just a couple of inches below the knee would help.

This weather can just go and fuck right off.

God I can't wait to move back north.  Though with changes in how a couple of folks work over the last couple of months god only knows when that'll actually happen.  So also grumpy about that.

Also in case anyone was wondering where all the horseflies are right now?  The answer appears to be in my front garden.

Halloween tat in TK Maxx in Watford on Saturday . Only 4 months away, but they still won’t sell half of it. Anyway it will probably be binned by the end of August to bring in Christmas tat.

Cutting trees  on a railway embankment?

Network Rail  employ cowboys, so it seems.

They did do a really horrible shit job of the English end of the Heart of Wales Line recently. As usual they did it all in the middle of the night, but it looks appalling, there was no need to clear fell so many mature trees.

Had a family complain last night because I politely requested they had their money waiting at the door for their next order (it's cash on delivery only).
It's the fourth or fifth time they've taken ages to pay.  The longest I've had to wait is 15 minutes while they fannied round (as the shop melts my phone begging me to come back for more drops).

Last night it was 30 fucking degrees, we were extremely busy (owing to footy and Glasto), and I couldn't be arsed wheezing in the heat while they fucked about scrounging money from across the house.
No apology, no 'can I get you some water', fuck all. I had to stand there like piffy on a rock bun, cooking in the sun. 15 minutes later, they finally pay in full, and whinged that some of the change wasn't in pound coins.

Before someone pipes up about card machines, they cost too much and won't get reception. That isn't an option - they simply don't work in our area.

Are you delivering takeaways or groceries?

Can they not pay by card upfront over the phone?

Yes. They chose not to.

That's crap. As soon as I get off the phone from ordering I put the ££ on the table in the hall. I can usually see the driver pull up from my dining room home office window and have the door open before they get there, money in hand. I like my food HOT.

Yes, that's what all reasonable people do.

I think it's just how some people are. We've all been behind someone at the supermarket belt who stands there, doing nothing for several minutes while waiting then suddenly is surprised that payment is expected and scrambles to find a card.

Sitting eating breakfast and out of nowhere there's a massive bang, like really loud, and a pot lid has exploded and there's broken glass everywhere.

How is this even possible?

Toughened glass will do that if it has been stressed, but it may take ages after the incident when a change in temperature, not a huge change, like being on a boiling pot, will trigger it.  Windscreens can do the same.
