Was so tempted, but I haven’t had the Volvo long enough and respect it too much to do such a thing with it.

I wonder about myself sometimes

Bought something for SWMBO's birthday in Halfrauds sale, a dashcam and it was suggested I might like the little bag, SD card etc for £3, reduced to clear, discontinued stock.

BILLY BARGAIN

My local one at Lakeside didn't have one, so I pressed the "look further" button and it came up with Gravesend @14.7 miles away or Chadwell Heath @ 16.5 miles.

I've got local resident discount for the Dartford Crossing, so it'll cost me 20p there and back. The traffic should be OK 4pm on a Saturday afternoon yeah?

Was it bollocks. So, doing what any sane person would do I missed the sliproad and proceeded to Chadwell Heath.

As soon as I passed the little green sign that said ULEZ zone, I figuratively punched myself in the clack.

So, saving a few quid on the purchase now means I'm paying £12.50 for the pleasure* of driving through Dagenham to get to the shop.

FERFUXAKE.

Reminds me of when I turned off a main road to go to a petrol station I knew was fairly cheap on my way back from somewhere.  As I tried to get back on my main route I had to divert due to a road closure so stuck the twat-nav on to assist in finding a quick way to the main road....and the bloody SD card corrupted and it stopped working.  So for the sake of saving a few pounds on petrol I had to spend £80 on a new SD card!

I ordered a new genuine key card for the Megane on the 6th December,  so chased it today. Not arrived and won't come for at least another week.

"It has to come from France."

I couldn't help pointing out that France is less than a day from Ireland by ferry.

I bought a camera from a seller in Japan a few months ago, Osaka to Glasgow in 4 and a bit days...

I've been tasked with finding a half tidy but cheap Previa for the sister in law and found one "that'll do" last week.

So I have been checking it over and was pleased this one still has solid ends to the sills and arches but decided to straighten out the lip on the ends of the sills where some Simpleton has jacked up on them and left them mangled and ripe for rust to take a hold only for me to sniff the waft of fuel.

Removing the plastic arch liner revealed the filler neck was absolutely buried under a couple  of inches of wet crud and has rotted to buggery.

I honestly think arch liners cause more problems than they solve.

We ordered a motorway toll pass electronic tag that covers most of Europe. They for some reason would not post to Spain. They will accept a Spanish car reg details. They will accept Spanish bank payment details. Solution it is sent to a friends address in The Netherlands. They repackage and send it on to us here in Spain. That small package has been stuck in Spanish customs for 4 days. I thought this was one borderless EU?

Ditto under trays and brake backing plates.

Warm house though. Must be well insulated as we can't get ours above 16C once it's below freezing outside!

It is not well insulated, it is an over 100 year old log house, so the walls are mostly logs and the windows etc are bad. But have good wood stoves and that helps.

I can't understand that you can't get it warmer than that and I've lived in several bad houses and even lived in caravans and never had it that bad. So something must be really wrong with your house?

Perhaps UK central heating/housing isn't as robust...

Certainly the 100 year old cottage I lived in frequently dropped to 6C overnight and 12-14C in winter was normal with the heating maxed out.

The houses I grew up in were largely the same, and around the same age.

This place was built in the 1980s but the heating is from 2006 and I think it was quite a cheap system back then...

Folks I know in new houses never seem to have to run the heating at all to maintain 25C!

22.5c is literally my optimum temperature for the house inside. It's probably just a mental thing though.

There's thick frost on the cars that haven't moved today already and its only 11.10 pm.

I've got 50 minutes to go, and I'm going to have a beer when I get in.

It's cold and I've had enough.

My entire goddamn house reeks of cigarette smoke.  My lungs feel like they've been through a cheese grater, and my head is pounding (even more than usual) and has been for about 48 hours now.

Having chain smoking relations over for Xmas sucks.  Especially if you've got asthma.

I thought it was about the most repulsive habit on the planet even before seeing it in black and white as a cause of death on my mother's death certificate.

Sure it will only take about a week to get rid of the stink.

"is it ok to smoke in the house?"

no, and with the utmost respect, fuck off outside with your unpleasant, disgusting habit

Why on earth would a non smoker allow anyone to smoke in their house?

I think if you read back a few pages, the visitors were smoking outside, but due to prevailing winds and the fact that their clothes and hair emit their own smoke smell, the house still ended up with a foul odour.

I mean you have a point, but most* people would look at the car on the "drive" and think, I won't park there in case they need to use the car.

No, mate, pal, buddy, I've stopped because having reversed out of the parking space I now need to put my car into first gear so I can drive off not so you can try and overtake me.  No, your indicator isn't going to change any of these facts.  No, now I'm moving forwards there still isn't space to overtake me and given that we can both (hopefully) see the parents and kids milling about half in the road you'll forgive me for not going any faster while I navigate around them safely.

I have no idea what he was hoping to achieve and it's not the first time I've had this happen.  The variation on the theme is when I'm stopped to let someone complete their maneouvre of reversing out of a parking bay and the person behind me drives around me and then gets confused that there's a car in the way.  I swear some people cannot see further than the end of their steering wheel.

First world problems and all that I know, but one of my monitors is dying.  Thankfully it's the odd one out rather than the matched pair as that would have really hacked me off.

I do have a spare to replace it, but due to a different stand arrangement and being a significantly different size, slotting it in will require a not inconsiderable amount of rearranging the workstation - and I really cannot be bothered!

Let's see how long it takes having a significantly green tint to the right half of the display on the leftmost monitor to annoy me enough to trigger the rearrangement of the desk.
