Got my second Covid vaccination today, and as a full-time trypanophobic I've been losing sleep over it for several nights, and barely slept 2 hours last night.

I think what irritates me more is how people don't understand or, as I suspect, don't want to understand. "You've had your first one and survived, what's to be worried about?" It's a phobia, by their very nature they don't make any fucking sense. It's very different to just being a bit nervous about needles, so don't come at me with the "Oh everyone's a bit wary of needles, you'll be fine" shit either. Appointment isn't til 11 and I'm already sweating like a jogger's bollocks.

 

Everyone just writes me off as being a wimp, or melodramatic ... which I'll readily admit to being both of, just not in this particular context.

I just hope I don't pass out like I did after my first one... the staff were great about it, but I felt so embarrassed!

Don't be. You can't do anything to prevent it. Jabs usually do the same to me, even after I've convinced them that I need to be lying down. Fortunately, my 2 covid jabs were an exception to that rule, just felt a bit wobbly for 5-10 minutes and was then fine.

It is something you don't read a lot about in this Covid era. There wer always stories in the military when guys in the queue for a vax would pass out. Did they give it to you before you were compos mentis?

I was fully awake when they gave it to me - I passed out immediately afterwards, apparently it's due to the sudden drop in heart rate when the source of anxiety is taken away.

Ordered a front wheel and a saddle from chain reaction. What arrived today? The saddle.

Had no time to submit a complaint as I had to head to the black circles appointment that was delayed from yesterday for no reason that the garage can fathom because the tyres arrived yesterday.

When did it all go to shit?

 

EDIT: Never mind, the wheel turned up while I was getting the tyres on the car done. Luckily the courier got into the block and left it in the hallway in front of my flat.

I remember that! In the Romanian variant of the user's manual (I've seen one about 25 years ago), and in the German one it's the same thing, limousine!

The Trabi handbook also describes the front passenger as 'assistant driver'!

Damn, that was a heavy downpour. Wasn't experiencing to get caught in that.

 

Edit: appears the right hand window defog tube may have fallen off. Need to look at that.
