Yes. Have you got one?  Seem a bit thin on the ground.

Yeah, I wasn't getting a warm fuzzy feeling using normal ones so it can go to my local garage that specialises in land rovers, they should be used to large awkward springs.

No, I haven't got one, and I'm going to need to take off some 96 springs at some point. I've bought a pair of heavy duty compressors that have a screwed lock to stop them slipping.heavy-duty-coil-spring-compressor-kit-jaws-holder-788-p.thumb.jpg.e5e54279f7b60db78ed4c2e41a1b2396.jpg

Hoping for the best🤕

I have spent many hours this weekend looking for a new car. Autocar and cazoo websites are quick and easy, go to a main dealer site - I’ve done Citroen ( the worst), fiat, Renault, Peugeot and mazda and they are absolutely woeful. Hard to navigate and find the info you want,  and useless in getting actual costs. I don’t want the monthly pcp payments, just what the cars cost now.

They prefer PCP, although that may change if there's a severe recession affecting used values.

I know - they make more money that way and it works for lots of people. I’m just someone who saves up and buys what I can afford with cash.  More fool me!

I totally agree with your approach . The only thing I've ever had on finance was my house. And a bank loan for the shed.

I have decided that I want to try and buy another car before the winter as I will not survive another winter without a project to work on. So then the problem is there are very few older cars for sale here in Norway that do not cost a fortune and many are sold quickly and that is the second and big problem I only have one person to help me and he is the most busy person in the world. So it is almost impossible to get anything done. So thanks to that, the 1956 Opel I posted in the ebay thread was sold before I could do anything. So what should have been a fun hunt for another car is just frustrating and I just want to give up.

More fool you ? No no no, it's the best way. As someone who has done it that way for 50 years I have no stress about monthly payments and credit card shit.

Don't give up. It will be worth it in the end. What's the score with importing cars into Norway ? Is it difficult ?

Thanks. And importing cars to Norway is not that difficult but is a bit of a hassle so it is not the time for that now. So I just have to keep an eye on cars that come for sale and hope I can be lucky.

Those are the ones shown in the HBOL and looking at the springs on the car they should work.  Best of luck.

I'm up against a retest deadline and have a bad attack of can't be arsed so the garage is doing them for me.

Christ I apparently can't drive today.

Totally misread one junction coming out of an offset junction in town and ended up taking completely the wrong line, nearly ending up facing the wrong way up the opposing carriageway.  In fairness the visibility was absolutely shit and the car in front of me did almost exactly the same thing, but still I should have done better.

Then managed to totally mess up lane discipline on the next roundabout and get myself punted off into a random industrial estate.  Five minutes later I go past a national freeway sign... having zero recollection of seeing a lower speed limit sign before it.

Yep, I'm having a bad day.  Still need to run some more errands later, think I'll take a break for a bit and hope my brain wakes up better before that!

There are speed limit signs on the road?  d'oops!

Grump:  Exhaust back-box (in fact, the only box) on the Merc has decided to detatch itself from the rest of the pipe, meaning I now have an unsilenced (bar the catalyst) straight-through pipe off the back of an inline-6 TD engine.

It sounds superb at idle and up to about 1200rpm at very low power, and bloody awful under most other conditions.

Opened a tin of copper grease that has been in an outside cupboard for about ten years.

It had a skin on it, and verdigris.

Had a good stir up and back in the cupboard for a decade.

Run out of steroids and the meds given at hospital have wore off.

My repeat prescription has gone to pharmacy to u which means the end of the week when I need them now.

I am blowing out of my arse.

If you contact the pharmacy most will try to get you an emergency supply.  If you are polite and treat them like humans. Who have feelings.

Contacted my GP. They gave me a code to get them from any pharmacy. Which I have done.

Waiting for them to kick in now.

I wonder how "I'm freelance and I have no idea how much work I'll get from day to day" goes down with those pushing these deals?

I knew about that some time ago. Discovery outbid the EBU for European broadcasting rights, whom the BBC would have gone to in turn for the FTA rights. So much for HMG's "sporting Crown Jewels".

And it's not just the UK affected by this: https://variety.com/2021/tv/global/olympics-discovery-broadcasting-coverage-europe-1235028460/

Massively fucked up turning right at a junction earlier, it was piss pouring monsoon style  rain and the sun was bouncing off the road into my eyes, someone flashed me to let me go and like a complete nobhead I rushed it,  totally misjudged the angle, missed a car in the massive A pillar blindspot of the van, cut the corner and got a well deserved prolonged blast on the horn from some poor bastard who I nearly stoved into.

There should be some sort of "rate my driving" type website where I could  apologise! "yes, I made a complete bollocks of that and you're totally right to call me blind eyed tosser who shouldn't be on the fucking roads" etc etc

Pride damaged etc, what a schoolboy error though, I've been driving for twenty years so I should know a lot better than that!

Despite doing an impression of a fish on a riverbank I have been messing with the vectra.

See where the dipstick is? Next to it (to the left)is a rubber breather pipe. Ours has perished coating the front of the engine in oil.

Whoever decided to route the pipe here obviously had fingers like ET. It was a twat to get it out. I managed to remove it only to find I have no pipe that size - vauxhall probably wont have it in stock. Off to the motor factors tomorrow then.

You didn't hit, or get dented though? It happens, occasionally. Don't stress.

At least you recognise that you ballsed it up, some people seem to think that turns like that are perfectly fine.  We all make mistakes.

Impatience is a virtue.

45 minutes between those messages. Couldn't even have got to the sellers address in that time, if I was on the way there I'd have gone fucking apeshit.
