I fixed the interior door handle on my Rover with one of those. Genius.

Yeah but I'm a fucking twat and snapped off the broken bit instead of pulling it taught.

Could still just take off the old one and remove the offending strand.

Will see.

Most motor cycle shops would repair a cable as long as the outer is ok . Or Oxford do a cable repair kit in a tin for about 8 quid with solderless nipples

Still awake due to work stress.

It is slowly killing me. Anxiety at an all time high, depression is worse than ever. But can't afford to cut and run, I'm only just making ends meet as it is.

Exaggeration, but Porsche-tax is very much a thing.

https://www.design911.co.uk/mobile/#part;id=923

70quid for a cable is still pretty pricey.

Before you buy from there, get a price from a dealer, it may be far worse, but then again it may not.

Download a parts catalogue from here

https://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/porscheservice/serviceandorgininalparts/originalparts/

Or just give 'em a bell.

According to some on PH, many sellers actually buy from an OPC and resell on. Apparently if you are a Porsche GB club member you get a discount from a OPC on parts too.

My experience with old BMWs is that some parts, not all, but some are cheapest direct from BMW.

Porsche GB promises that their annual membership will never cost more than a tank of fuel - it's not cheap - and it's full of dick cheese folk that just make you want to sell the car.

Anyway, price from Porsche Nottingham £54.87 + vat

Yes. The only reason I'd join if for cheaper parts. However I'm not sure the £60 p/a would be paid back by any savings. When I do need parts I'm tempted to ask what discounts they offer at the counter anyway.

TBH I didn’t even realise I would be allowed into an OPC, a bit like when I went to buy a £3 gasket for a 18 year old A6 from an Audi dealer :D (who, to be fair, sat me down with a coffee and treated me like I’d just bought a brand new one)

Hope things turn themselves around for you, chief. Lying awake most of the night due to work is not very nice at all.

Can no longer be bothered with single marque clubs, if insurers ask me,

I just give them my member number - 4623 - in the Autoshites.

Loaned him one of mine that has never had the slightest problem.

Did I oversleep and miss summer? It was spring a couple of days ago, today it's back to winter, really cold and now hailing, I had just started sanding down a table outside and have had to put it all away again. I wouldn't mind too much, but the heating is now officially off (just paid the £575 gas bill for the last quarter) so it's no warmer indoors.

Oh bummer.

Brakes and emissions aren't a huge surprise given how long it'd been stood up, and I would imagine the bushes and track rod end would be easy enough to get from Rock Auto or somewhere, but the corroded wishbones etc. might be more of an issue - can't see them being easy to get second hand, or cheap to buy new.

Are you going to crack on with it?

From what I can see groveling underneath it just looks like surface rust. My mate is in the process of installing a four post lift. I'll have a good look when it's up on that then decide what to do.

Even with a test fail I can still drive it for two months ☺

Edit: Just had a look on Rockauto, new wishbone price not tooo bad. :)

Buy-to-let investor at the bottom of our chain has pulled out. Apparently couldn't make the figures work. Why couldn't they done that 3.5 friggin months ago? What an utter bell-end. I suspect it's probably them waiting to see what happened with Brexit and see if they could knock money off.

So chain now has fallen apart and houses back on the market.

For Fucks Sake.

I best now go retrieve my Welding Gas cylinder and get back on with the 1100. Only positive I can take from the situation.

It's got stuck in the liner leaving it to idle fast. Obviously this will be a Porsche only part and will cost £900.

You say that, but when I needed a door handle release cable for an Audi 90 I ended up at the Porsche dealer in Sheffield as it was cheaper there than from Audi. Presumably shared with a car of the same era so perhaps 924.

It's perversely fun to see which other cars your Porsche is made of - I've just bought a new speedo cable for mine and the other vehicle listed to fit was a VW Transporter, and almost everything I've taken off broken off so far is stamped VW/Audi.

The rear suspension and front struts are all but interchangable with the late 1303 beetle. I have 944 ventilated discs, calipers etc on my beetle. The hubs simply bolted on. The hndbrake cable took minimal fettling and astonishingly the master cylinders, although different bore and configuration swapped easily, I just pulled all the plastic bits from one and plugged them straight into the other.

Trying to make an audio file to wind up a workmate and finding it suprisingly hard as I'm a complete Luddite.

First idea was to download it onto elderly mates Windows phone and spent 20 minutes trying to get the fucker to connect to the Wifi (in the office he has worked in for a year).  Finally did that but couldn't work the phone and needed to get stuff done so....

Found something appropriately annoying on Youtube on the PC at home, held my phone to speaker and recorded sound.  Quality is crap but this isn't an issue, try to set as ringtone and find I need it to be an MP3 and its a .wav.

Emailed the file to myself and opened on PC thinking I'll use media player to convert it, nope.

Googled it and used the first result that wasn't an ad.  Uploaded the .wav file and nearly fucked the PC when I tried to download the mp3.  In the end I had to restart the PC with the internet cable unplugged and delete the history from firefox.

Current tactic is googling for file converter reviews and using the top rated free one.  If I'm not online for a week you will now know why.

Download Real Player to capture the desired video from YouTube and then download "Switch" to convert the video to an MP3 file.   Both are free and non-invasive.   Just follow the instructions - I am a complete cybertwat but still managed to collect 350 audio tracks over a couple of evenings....
