The grumpy thread

I had the opposite of this tonight, arsehole in a Nissan Joke is coming past slowing down for the lights as I am turning right, so I start to pull out and the stupid cow stops at least a car and a half length behind the car in front stopping me tucking in behind so I end up across the other lane of traffic and looking like a dick. Complete and utter lack of awareness of anyone but themselves.

They could possibly have had defensive driving training, leaving a decent space in front when in a queue always gives you options should it all go to shit.

More likely completely oblivious though.

You fell into a tattoo shop? I've heard they sting under arm.

Twas done while working with some Mansfield coal miners in HK. Tats were a challenge and the winner had the most painfull.

Underarm hurt but I have been told the arch between the heel and ball of your foot wins the universe pain award.

Z, My thoughts are with you

Sorry to hear your troubles zelandeth. Best wishes to you and yours.

Under armour tattoos, when I had my band done I had a knee in my chest, another holding my arm while the tattooist carried on as I was laughing too much. Painful but tickled. The ones on my chest were quite tender too. Worst one was on top of my wrist though. Felt as if it was hitting the bone. Vibrating up my arm too.

From the way she was fucking about with her vape thing and the fact I had to beep her when she was still there when the lights had gone green and the other car had moved off I very much doubt it was the former.

I twatted the join of my thumbnail last night taking a dyson apart. This morning it hurts so much even the air pressure of our atmosphere makes it hurt, bastard!

I think she's worried that going into car mechanics would give her a dead end career, which I can't see.

I tend to agree with you.

There are several motorsports teams in Surrey, which is not very far from you, would that sort of thing pique her interest? After gaining some experience with more general work of course.

Stuff it up the pipe of a Hoover.

And if that doesn't take your mind off it, try it with your thumb

Clio 172 continues to be difficult to start. Things are just packing up one by one on this car. Not a good automotive year for me at all.

I know what you mean, Coolant pissing out of the 75 again. Bin the 172, keep the Astra and the Corsa, they have been looked after by you and you know where you are with them.

Logbook for the little Peugeot (which seller didn't have to hand as her daughter had it) came back this week.  Declared accident damaged a couple of years ago. Ok it's been repaired now, but I detect hiding of all known facts.

Right, off to Argos methinks...

To top it all, I dropped my favourite Spandau Ballet CD in the washing machine by mistake. Round and round it goes.

….. Round and round it goes.

No idea if it'll be Dead or Alive after that.

But it will be spun right round baby right round.....

Send it to the spin doctors.

Only if you want to buy it flowers - or talk for hours.

'Just go ahead now' (is what it might say).

Well we've had an update of sorts. Not much because of data protection and all that nonsense.

My husband is in the intensive care ward, but is alert. At least that's what the fifth hand translated from Chinese report we've had says.

No idea when (or even if for that matter at this stage) he'll be well enough to be flown home via air ambulance, but we're braced for weeks or months.

Currently rummaging through the job listings as he's going to be out of action for a fair while even when home (if not permanently), so I'll likely need to pick something up. Not going to be able to find anything paying close to what he was earning, which then raises thorny issues around keeping up with things like mortgage payments.

Given it's costing me the most monthly due to insurance costs, likely there will be a Xantia Activa for sale soon, along with a reduced price Lada at the least unless the outlook improves.

Given my prior experience with neurological trauma with what my parents both went through, I'm not holding out much hope.

Glad you have some news regarding your husband, I hope that things continue to improve from here on in.

Thinking practically,Re mortgage/bills etc, it may be worth phoning the relevant companies to advise re the situation?

I have a friend who was able to have his mortgage altered to reduce outgoings when the company were notified of his health issues.

Additionally, if there is any 'income protection' or critical illness cover in place it'd be worth checking that out also.

While I totally understand why you're feeling this way, please don't be too downhearted until you know more. People can and do make good recoveries from strokes.

Thinking of you both.

Best of luck Zel.  I hope he pulls through ok.  And you, for that matter.

Sorry to read about the situation Zel, I want to echo what 320T mentioned - let the mortgage people know & check what insurance policies might be in place. Hope things become clearer soon...

Car for sale I posted has now been locked. I didn't seem it right to go into eBay thread as it wasn't an eBay advert. Perhaps these rules and thread title bollocks can be elaborated on so we know exactly where to stick what. Maybe a general for sale thread for roadside cars? I thought I was doing right. Obviously not. Fuck this

But lad, don't worry about it. You're right about creating a thread just for roadside cars rather than internet found ones.

Aw man, so sorry to hear of this crashing news, compounded by the international issues.

As SMH alludes, there have been major strides in stoke treatment in recent years, with better and faster recoveries possible. A friend of mine in his late 20s had a stroke a number of years ago; he's since made a full recovery, and has mentioned that if he needed the same care now his prognosis would be even better. My understanding is that the Chinese healthcare system is pretty good these days.

Thinking of you both, and hoping for a good outcome here.

Thanks ls. I perhaps could have worded it better to start a thread for roadside only cars but someone may have taken action against that instep. I'm in a foul temper today. Everything fucks up, depression is a bastard. Ignore me while I go sulk.

I think someone started a roadside cars thread about a month or so back, and it got canned after a day or two... advice at the time was that the eBay thread was intended for all cars for sale by anyone other than forum members, regardless of whether they were on Ebay, Gumtree, Craigslist, Tesco Community Noticeboard or a cryptic message scrawled in crayon on a CCJ notice and Blu-Tac'd to a side window on a verge...

Agree that it might help if the 'Ebay Tat' thread read something more along the lines of  'Shite Cars Seen For Sale - Online, Offline or Parked Up (Formerly Ebay Tat)'

Mind you, going by the pushback generated whenever the Stupid Question Amnesty thread was retitled... it'd take a braver man than I to suggest such a thing.

Shit.

I'm done for now.
