The grumpy thread

Its unbelievable that in this day and age of the internet that cars like that are still being scrapped.

I know a guy that does house clearances you'd be utterly amazed by the stuff he gets , that car would be been cluttering the garage when the estate agent comes round.

It wouldn't surprise me to find it was sold as soon as he got it, I bet he gave them £100 for it

Last day of my two week summer holiday today :(

Despite not having actually 'gone' anywhere it's been great to have some time off to spend with the family and catching up with my projects, unfortunately the dread RE going back to work has now well and truly set in and I'm feeling slightly depressed about it all... My days generally start at 6AM and I often don't get in from work until after 8pm, not good. I used to get like this when returning to school after the 6 weeks summer holidays, shadows cast long over the school gates.

FML.

The same for me, I have the back to work blues after a week off.

A week of going to bed when I feel like it and getting up a bit later, staying in out of the sun will be replaced with early starts and sitting in a cab that hasn't got aircon and has massive Windows that aren't even tinted, so very uncomfortable.

I shouldn't really be grumpy because I am only in this week, then I have another week off, but I still am.

Oh gawd, my next time off is in November

I struggle to sleep the night before going back in after some time off, work is pretty stressful TBH.

Details? Location?

If this needs crowdfunding, there's a crowd forming already.

Ah shit. Now that Ma has bought the house, my stash of car parts has been discovered by nosey workmen, been told to go down there and clear the loft of those things because she thinks they are a hazard.

Anyone got a bit of storage I could borrow and a spare Saturday? If not I could borrow my Mums neighbours shed for a bit.

I have a permit, it fell off the window so I stuck it in the centre console to stop it flapping around the dash, just forgot to put it back.

Now using the “parking charge notice” envelope as a permit holder :D

The exhaust on the RCZ is leaking. AGAIN.

The little shit can wait until Wednesday when it goes for an oil and filter change.

I'm sick of laying on my back getting shit all over me trying to seal it up.

Had a week off. Fine. Too fucking tired to do anything meaningful on the Triumph apart from paint one bit of the headlight bracket. Just need to re-connect the wires and bolt it in properly. Drivers side is done then.

Then to do the other side.

This heat really isn't helping me at all. I just want to sleep.

That blue Triumph 1300 needs to be saved too.

Checking the van over for work tomorrow and no.3 plug lead has fallen apart at the dizzy end. That would explain the rough idle and occasional misfire then.

Normally not a problem but I threw my stash of old plug leads in a fit of madness about a month ago.

Damn it!

Jammed it back in with the carbon wrapped round the remaining bit of copper contact and it's running on 4. Now to get a set of leads....

Ebay sellers are pissing me off tonight. I was bidding on an RO80 and emailed the seller yesterday as I was passing and wanted to view it. He replied this morning to say he was out all day but gave me a post code as it was sat on the road, Get home tonight and he has cancelled all bids as it is no longer available. Looks like I won't be buying anything from him then,

I went to my local breakers yard this morning.

I could not believe my eyes at what I saw there.....

A bloody Mazda 929! I nearly fell over backwards when I saw it. I think it’s been off the road since 1985 and has been (badly) stored until this year. If you look hard enough there is a 1970 Triumph 1300 right behind it.

How bloody ace does this thing look?

Grumpy because it’s ended up here rather than in the hands of a restorer - I don’t think it would have needed much in the way of bodywork. It had done 68k from new.

Gave them a call. Not sure it can go back on the road, but they did say to phone later. 'It is quite rotten,' was the description so I think that's going to be out. I'd love to save it, but beyond my means.

Are you gonna phone later? I have been thinking about it myself. I'm not taking on another big project but that needs to come out of the scrap yard!!!

Is that the one up in Yorkshire?

It’s ace how some people think ‘no offers’ is a challenge. Batted a few off this morning, including one lad who must have tried three or four hopeless ways to try and chip me down.

I’ve just ‘left the group’ on the message thread, it’s bloody pointless.

Probably not to be honest. I've truly got enough on my plate. I really, really want to see it saved, but I'm not the man to do it.

Fucking smackrat bastards have turned over work at the weekend. Crowbarred the robin door and bonnet, then nicked the battery.

Put the back window through on my mates mint hiace and nicked his batteries (twin)too.

Did some customer cars as well, just cut through the battery cables...cunts

How hard is it to pay a fucking loan off ?

If its the tsb very hard. Branch told us to phone loans but there is more chance of contacting the dead. I am sure they no longer want business.

I live relatively close to this yard (Google says 15-20 miles). I can't contribute much in the way of time at present, but I do have a bit of space on the driveway. If it can be delivered to my place then I can store it for however long is necessary.

They're not making it easy. "Come and see me and we can talk about price." That ain't going to work for me. Anyone else going to have a go?
