Heard a new clanging sound about 60 miles from Peterborough. Gave it a prod at my dad's and the exhaust hangers have snapped again! Stupid things, will lash it up with some wire and look at them 2 weeks before the mot

Just waved goodbye to my BX estate restoration. Decided that having a major welding project after having a spine fusion operation probably wasn't the best idea. Can't wait to get back to work. At least 5 more weeks off and I'm bored already doing nothing

You would probably be fine TBH I was told no point in having mine fused as I would just damage above or below where it was fused.

5 weeks - what you need is a project car ;)

I know what you mean I had a job at the local sewage works but I jacked it in as I was sick of going through the motions .

I used to assemble keyboards. Same shift every day.

Got one! Got another BX hatch that needs far less work, plus the other cars to keep fettling.

I thought that I would adjust the door mirror slightly, but being a cack-handed fool I managed to shear the casting instead.

You will hardly notice my temporary seamless repair

I may try some chemical metal type stuff, but more sensibly I will get a new one on order, looking forward to trying to undo the bracket, I'll probably end up needing a new door hinge/door/bulkhead

Maybe it'd work better if you turned it the right way up?

Shops lying on packaging. I picked up cheap men's t-shirts in lidl. Yet I've just found out they have v necks so are for girls.

No normal men wear v near t-shirts ffs, now I need to take them back but can't as the receipt blew away when I loaded the car so they are only good for rags.

I used two- pack glue when mine broke off. No problem after a year. I love low- tech repairs.

"Normal" Germans do.

Cut the sleeves off, and enlarge the neck hole and wear it as a vest. Its what I do (to my wife's disgust) with old t-shirts where the seams have gone in the armpits. You get years of life out them like this.

Tempting but I only got them as we're allowed to wear plain white t-shirts at work while it's hot rather than uniform tops. Our work polo shirts (which I hate as who can't decide between a t-shirt or a real shirt ffs?) appear to be made of old horse blankets so you can walk around in the snow in them & not get cold.

This fucking Alfa.

Left it at work as it's got a parking permit. Forgot the brake lights jam on. 10 hours later and it's dead.

Of course, let's not forget the boot now won't open.

I despair. I'm this close to scrapping it.

Had it jumped by AA yesterday, and then the boot release button broke.

I hate this fucking thing. If the guy flounces it's being scrapped.

I'm being grumpy on behalf of somebody else

Guy buys a new build house for 300k and this is what he gets

Disgusting! I can't believe this standard of work gets signed off. I've seen a fair bit of this to be fair. So much that I won't entertain the thought of a new build. Imagine the snags and when the warranty ends I bet it falls apart from the inside out. Shameful!

I went to my local breakers yard this morning.

I could not believe my eyes at what I saw there.....

A bloody Mazda 929! I nearly fell over backwards when I saw it. I think it’s been off the road since 1985 and has been (badly) stored until this year. If you look hard enough there is a 1970 Triumph 1300 right behind it.

How bloody ace does this thing look?

Grumpy because it’s ended up here rather than in the hands of a restorer - I don’t think it would have needed much in the way of bodywork. It had done 68k from new.

When do you collect it?

Can it be saved? That's amazing!

It is indeed amazing. I’m not sure if it can legally be saved because COD but I’m sure if you speak to the yard owner then anything is possible? It is all complete.

No record of the 929's registration plate on DVLA at the moment

you haz t'internet.

order a shopping delivery.

your welcome.

"You're" [/grammar Nazi]

More to the point: my internet is in and out, mostly out.  I've had a word with PlusNet and I'm expecting it to improve forthwith.  Until it does I'll just have to do stuff the old-fashioned way.  Which today meant a trip with Tripod to the Co-op.  With a bit of luck we'll have the car back on Monday anyway.

Its unbelievable that in this day and age of the internet that cars like that are still being scrapped.
