Anyway, in the name of recycling (and not because I'm as tight as a ducks arse) I have resurrected the kettle that the one that has just died, replaced!  It's a £9.99 job from Asda and is working fine. The one that went to heaven in a big black bin was a Morphy Richards posh thing that has been shit since they dayit appeared!

Having enjoyed a massive Crohns flare up on saturday night I am now enjoying a stay at Basildon hospital.

Shouldn’t be a problem as they know my history and treatment plan so one glance at the records should see me dosed with morphine and iV steroids.

They have lost my records though. So back to square one meaning they have to assess me as a new patient. They have even lost records of the surgery they did in 2010 and every single quarterly assessment with a gastroenterologist between 2002 and 2011. All gone.

So I get to lay here suffering until someone in authority tells me what I already know and starts me on a steroid drip. Might be here tomorrow or Wednesday.

Oh and nil by mouth since Saturday...

That's not good. You have my virtual support. ( not a lot I can do from here). But you know I'm on your side.

Thumbs up from me

That’s shit mate. Have you been to any other departments recently? All my records went missing last year, they turned up six months later In another hospital where I had been for an assessment on spinal surgery. For some reason they didn’t make it back for a while. Hope you get it sorted.

That's pants mate. Wouldn't your GP have the full records ?

Oh for the love of...

Good luck mate. The NHS have successfully lost my records three times so far - on each occasion I've discovered this when going to get a repeat for my asthma medication and suddenly "computer says no..."

When everything is supposed to be online in one database these days there's no excuse for it.

Additional grump: bloody fuel station "convenience stores" which are basically mini supermarkets. Stood in the queue for near 15 minutes today while people bought their week's shop while I waited to pay for the few quid of fuel I'd put in a can...

Ha.

Parky, really hope you get sorted pronto.

What are the laws/rules for being blocked in? I'm legally parked in my street.

There's a car almost touching my towbar and a car in front of my car virtually sat on my bumper- I'd say less than an inch. The chap in front has parked across his own drive to park in front of my car... hasn't bothered to use his drive so I'm guessing for some reason he's done this on purpose!

You'd think so, but not if you're in the process of transferring to a different surgery, as I did at the end of last year. My records went missing for about three months.

I later found out that the original surgery was required to send all of the history notes to the NHS equivalent of a central hub, which after much delay, then farmed the file out to the new surgery. The fact that the old and new surgeries are but half a mile away from each other, and the file could have been walked over in about half an hour, doesn't really register with NHS procedure...

None, it would seem, but you could try reporting this to your local overstretched police force as an obstruction.

As someone who has been having issues with getting blocked in (and out) by parents from the local school I've had a chat with the plod about it.

In their exact words, "Sorry, but there's bugger all you can do about it."

Unless the vehicles are actually illegally parked, they've every right to park there... leaving you enough space isn't a consideration.

On a proper roll at the moment, car, then the kettle this morning, now another kettle tonight! Srtiously, two kettles in one day... is this a record?

Don't say: 'no, it's a kettle' or I;ll get stroppy! :)

Would unnecessary obstruction not cover it? I'm often blocked in by dickheads, not a problem as yet thanks to metal bumpers, I assume shunting some vulgar financed white blob is a lesser offence than  preventing my free movement, certainly is morally.

Have just been through the same, shiny new kettle purchased yesterday !

Not for the slugs, it isn’t.

I have lots of pretty blue pellets all around my courgette plants. And piles of empty snail shells.

I saw someone park in the drive next door to my inlaws, whilst she dropped off her kiddies. Neighbour couldn't get their car out to go to work.

Sorry to hear that Parky.  I have no idea what that's like but it sounds horrible.

I'm genuinely surprised you'd be able to get in at the doctors to be honest. Whenever I ring mine its a straight no to an appointment regardless if you ring up at the crack of dawn.

Hope you get sorted soon though.

Still here, still alive, still nil by mouth and actually feeling ok. Flare up is over, digestive system normal again. However the nurses won’t believe me, the gastro specialist has to see me to decide if I am well enough to leave. He hasn’t even assessed me to see if I am sick enough to treat yet!

So he could send me home with a month of steroids and maybe a few meal replacement sachets and I am done and out of here. Or he could decide to put me on Iv steroids, leave me on nil by mouth for 48 hours, and then have a look if I can eat anything on Thursday or Friday.

Maybe out by Saturday. The waste, oh the waste if that happens

When I was living in Birmingham, I came back to my Dyane to find a BMW 7 Series millimetres from the front bumper. I just adopted the Paris parking method, eased forward and then just nailed it. Amazingly, this worked and I was able to escape. A minicab driver looked horrified.

Perfectly legal.

Absolutely immoral.

Yes but trespass is a civil offence.

We served court papers for a small claim on the 3rd of Nov and still aren't finished. And that's with knowing who we're dealing with.

I am imagining that by the time you have obtained the person's details (can you even do this easily/legally?) and then waited out the court processes, the car would have been moved a long time since.

Frustrating.

My dad cut out the crap and just bounced a car out of the way once. The owner who flippantly dismissed a polite request to move his car from across the drive soon changed tack when he realised dad meant business.

I would suggest with understanding, but don't condone, the only way of tackling these idiots is to risk being caught "breaking the law" yourself :(

Depends where you live as well. I've a feeling in some places you'd be coming back to a broken headlamp, others a note asking you to move.

Keep the odd roof tile around...... a strategic drop to inflict maximum damage will suffice. Make sure you're there to comment along the lines of

Heard the crunch.......

Ooooh - glad I couldn't get MY car on there - that's gonna be expensive.

Or

That's why I don't leave my car on my own drive, the roof is a bloody disaster waiting to happen........

Other lines of that ilk available.......

Inconsiderate bastards

Edit - I may or may not have used this method previously, anyone taking this approach, although having my full support and approval, will probably be dealing with some harpie or other in the short term, but have their drive back long term for the foreseeable future.......
