The grumpy thread

That's a bit defeatist! It would make a bit of difference, it's just that it would be such a microscopic bit of difference that probably only 2 or 3 people in the entire world would catch a brief glimpse of it.

.... And they'd be the greedy, scamming bastards running the charity.

Fucks sake.

My Virgin broadband has been up and down like a yo-yo attached to a whore's knickers. So I've got a Vodafone 4G MiFi thing hanging off the USB port, and it's set up so if the Virgin disappears for 30 seconds it swaps to the Voda SIM, and then swaps back as soon as the Virgin comes back online.

Works really well.... except there's a little delay whilst it swaps. So yesterday, when I was trying to play games on Steam, I unplugged the Virgin box from the router so it would just be on Voda and it wouldn't keep pausing the game as it swapped back and forth, aiming to plug it back in when I've done.

Guess which moron forgot to plug it back in?

Guess which moron now has a £112 Vodafone bill for ONE DAY of internet usage, because we've been streaming Amazon Video and Voda charge £6.50 per 500MB.

Fuck.

I wholeheartedly disagree with your Telegraph view of economics and think the 99% of the worlds wealth in the 3% of the populations pockets would actually make a massive difference if distributed, but that aside, you can buy a kettle for a fiver, so 1/150th of the cost of the machine I mentioned, you say no one should have a car by my example, not sure how you come to that conclusion, my argument is about excessive cost, you can get a decent car for a grand, if someone spent £150000 on a car I would also think they were a cunt, if they did that and drove it to buy a £750 coffee machine I would think they were Cunty McCuntface of the long lost Cunt clan of Cunt county, Cuntland. (I may be on for the cunt count this year I fear).

Dude, I think you've had too much coffee.

You sound exactly like all the customers I used to have to help in my old work (Vodafone). Except you know why it's amounted so high.

Record internet usage in a month I saw was about 350gb. On a phone.

I wouldn't mind, but that's only about 9GB of use.

That's worse than what you'd pay roaming from Outer Mongolia.

Oh yeah I know the charges are an absolute rip-off. I can't remember if the data cap was ever extended to MBB products as I left store about a year back for a system testing/development role in the HQ, which was good for networking but BORING DESK JOB.

Trains are much more fun.

Call up and see if you get anyone a bit more empathetic on the other end, as sometimes I've known them to be reasonably generous with credits due to genuine mistakes. Again, no promises.

At the large blue network where I used to be a call centre bloke (Pillock is quite familiar with them...) you could only be let off a “bill shock” for data usage if it was the first time you’d used any real amount of data before - guessing because it’s MBB and in regular use that won’t apply

Obviously Voda policy might differ

Yeah, ANPR plate reading in car parks is never wrong is it. FFS.

If I quote a post with a high c count, does that increase my c count?

And if I win the c count without ever writing the word, does that make me one?

I'm decorating the attic at the moment. Last week I spent hours on the chimney breast, sanding, filling, lining paper, more filling and sanding etc to get the outside corner perfect. It was absolutely cock on.

Painted it a couple of days ago.

Today it's rained like fuck, and contractors have taken next doors roof off. Well, they took it off weeks ago.

Water has run down the back of the chimney breast (they've knackered the leadwork)  and it's blown all my hard work off the wall. FFS!

Hope your neighbours/the contractors/whichever are properly insured.

This bank holiday weekend I have drunk too much. I have also eaten way way too much.

I feel like shit and today spent a good chunk of the day on the bog! All self inflicted damage!

Nope, quoted instances are not counted towards your tally. So you'll have to find another way to become a cunt :-)

Anybody living next door? Make them aware of the problem so they can tell whoever is doing the work they need to sort it ASAP, the contractors swiftly sorting out a plaster and decorator for a day will be cheaper and easier than risking a claim on public liability and you giving them a right slagging via social media, trustatrader, mybuilder or whatever.

Agreed. They've caused damage to your property as a result of the work they're having done, so you'll be entitled to redress.

I'm grumpy because I can hear scores of sports bikes caning it along the main road south of my house and my bike is still in bits in the shed...

I'm not sure how well the Acclaim will handle a side impact from a Nissan Qashqai or an BMW X5, I suspect they'll not notice and I'll be reduced to a fine paste...

We've a qashqai, it's actually quite deceptive in that it's a similar weight and size to a focus, just higher ride height for that faux 4x4 look.

Most of its bulk is plastic, I'd imagine the acclaim would probably total it

Someone here mentioned a better alternative to cascamite the other day, I can't remember it, or find it now!

I've a large coffee table that needs all the joints redoing.

It's an empty council property, council contractors doing the work. It leaked a few weeks ago and I rang them up to tell them about it, told them the whole story - It's leaked but I've not decorated it yet so it's no bother, just make sure you sort it out.

Obviously they didn't, I could kick off at them and get them to come and sort it - the mrs has said the same, but realistically I can sort it in 3 nights after work. I've got some patching plaster, filler, wallpaper and paint in stock.

Fixing it myself is easier than trying to arrange to be home on a weekday to get someone else in to sort it for me, and no doubt they'd do a rough job of it etc.

This is the first time I've used the 20GB on it, and it goes 8 months of the year not being used at all.

Gonna tell them how disappointed I am that they don't cap bills and threaten to cancel, see if they go halvsies.

Then I'm cancelling anyway.

Just an overwhelming dose of the "Can't be arsed". Roll on Japan, MrsHarris flying out and spotting some odd chod.

Nothing wrong with cascamite but it is rather old fashioned; strongerer would be aerolite/aerodux, easierer would be any of the common epoxies(probably with a thickener to increase gap filling qualities), and easiest of all would be the beelzebub spaff of gorilla glue/polyurethane foaming gunk of choice.

More snow!!!!!

Since the camper failed it's mot for a genuine little bit of welding and I put it in the drive to do it, it's done nothing but snow and rain.

Some old boy in a Corsa C who looked about eleventy-hundred years old was driving along the A280 Long Furlong at under 20mph yesterday. Nice bit of jerky steering and lane drifting while doing so. Even the tractors that use the road were overtaking him.

Surely when you get to a certain age, can't manage a major A-road driving at a speed barely in double figures, and can't keep the car in your own lane it's time to hang the keys up, though fair play to the old soldier his Corsa didn't have any battle scars!

Oh, and people who use a mobile phone like this piss me off as well. Not only do I NOT want to hear their conversations, they also look like a complete and utter knobcheese for doing so. Speakerphone has its uses, but private conversations is not one of them.
