Agreed. Three years after buying the Panda diesel new from a well known car supermarket they tried to convince me that if I didn't get the timing belt done on it now it will invalidate any warranty I had.

It's a chain. Granted a little one that will need doing eventually but not at 30,000 miles.

Tories are scum, the blue ones and their red tory arse lickers like Blair.

Would be nice to have a genuine alternative have a chance that actually worked for the electorate, but can't see that happening anytime soon.

I am biting on this one old chap :D too much gin tonight you see, anyway bit of a rant.. but only through frustration

Tory scum or conservative scum? and are the supporting electorate scum or just the party members?

For a democratically elected government to work the majority of the electorate must have voted that government in (uness Jeb Bush has a hand in the Florida count etc),

Healthy politics is to provide the electorate with a choice. If the majority of the electorate dont vote in one of those parties then it is probably because the policies are a bit shit. tis how it fucking works!

So, and bearing in mind (by your own admission) how right wing bliars policies were, has there really been no viable opposition since 1979? No Fucking way man! what are you looking for out of politics?

Roll it forwards to post Noo Labia, A genuine change ? Nope the Unions engineered the wrong brother to lead and fucked up that GE!! Maybe all the supporters "forgot" to vote for him? Maybe they just thought he was a cunt! FFS this is the 21c now can politics not evolve ?

But it is all bollocks! show me when any elected party worked for the electorate. Ok they all work for ickle bits of it but none of them work for the majority of those that voted for them. prove me rong!

Oh and new genuine alternatives like Corbyn? For all his posturing etc the electorate can only see that he wants to drag us back to the fucking middle ages. probably, I understand he is terribly popular with his party.

Me? I despise the man, not for what he stands for but because through his arrogant fucking pig headedness* he has deprived the country of any genuine opposition and as such we are stuck with a lazy Tory party who couldnt fuck the next General election up if they tried.

so there you go, genuine alternative and a democratic process continue to fuck up politics!

Maybe it is the electorate that should be educated. winter of discontent was a Good thing, etc etc etc

To fix it? Not easy, 100 years ago working classes and burds weren't allowed even to fucking vote! Nowadays and looking at turn out figures most of the electorate cant be arsed to get of their arses? Lets hope that the working classes and Burds do! but then they are voting the wrong folk in apparently? How the fuck does that work?

I am massively in favour of counting spoiled papers and making the vote mandatory. i.e. a fine unless you can come up with a darned good reason for not turning out for a GE. That way when the right get 20 votes and the left get 20 (for the sake of argument) it is difficult to ignore the dick an'balls count is 64 million.

then you might get somewhere.

it wont happen though and folk like you will despise lots of other people for their democratic vote and we all die unhappy in a shit underfunded care home.

*I am sure that like other politician cretins he is thoroughly interesting and likeable when polishits is removed from the discussion.

Fuck you co-op insurance fuck you twice

I always have car insurance that allows me to add the odd vehicle to it for a day or two, it was co-op who turned out to be cheap on the roulette wheel this year and I duly checked their website and yes indeedeee you can add temp vehicles. few months down the line I want to buy a spares car 60 miles away, oh no sir you cant add temp vehicles to this policy as its with co-op eco, the same but slightly seperate from co-op and it's a no go, first I've heard as I took it out with bloody co-op.

Now faced with paying a kings ransom for a day insurance to drive a car for one bastard hour, first quote was £100...no really it was. Car has to be picked up tomorrow evening and I don't want to lose it so off to search for a more reasonable quote..suggestions welcome!

Buy cheapest insurance.

Cancel in cooling off period. Never cost me more than £25.

Don't do finance otherwise it is full amount.

Beats me why the FCA hasn't come after 'admin' charges in the same way as bank charges. It's all charging you money for doing fuck all.

£30 for 'unauthorised borrowing' or rejecting a DD - not ok

£30 for changing a detail in a computer - ok

I complained about it to an insurer once, they came back saying they needed to pay for things like lighting costs

Thank goodness that you cancelled, without your admin fee they'd all have had to sit in the dark

Phoned to book my 1 year old daily in for a service at the dealers. I'm a bufty with it so it's only done 2.5k since the last service where they turned me over for a oner to change the oil.

They spent ten minutes trying to upsell me for a fucking engine flush! (the car has done 5k from new) saying it would improve MPG and performance significantly, along with £50 "MOT INSURANCE" which covers repairs that my car would need for its first MOT (in 2019), providing those repairs aren't wear items like tyres/brakes/suspension or anything else that is actually tested on the mot. It would cover structural welding and "manual steering rack" though.

As much as I want to like having a new car, I bought it because I just needed a car for a few years that would be someone elses problem until we move somewhere with a drive, but no amount of bouncing their courtesy car off the rev limiter is going to make up for having to deal with fucking car supermarkets.

Unless it's something high-end, take it to an independent garage. As long as they're VAT registered and use manufacturer parts it won't invalidate the warranty. It'll cost less and the service will probably be better.

Well I did cancel after about a month and still had to pay the entire years premium so they'll be well illuminated for quite some time

Posted

The thing is, it's not unusual these days, especially with classic policies and those lesser-known 'bargain' brokers, for the cancellation fee to exceed the original cost of the premium. A friend had this with a Lancaster policy on his beetle.

Cost of the policy was about £95 and the cancellation was £120 by the time all the various fees had been added. They wouldn't allow him to change it over to the Mk1 Golf he'd bought to replace it either because it was a 'different kind of classic". Shysters

And apparently it's not as simple as just saying fuckem, I'll let it run out...because (allegedly) if you sell it and the new keeper doesn't insure it, then has an accident while your policy is still in place, then they're obliged to pay out to the 3rd party, which can then come back on your record...or something. I think there is similar lunacy if someone steals it.

Posted

Worse than that - they can actually then come after you to reimburse them for the cost of the claim.  Although that one doesn't work if someone steals it.

Except in Scotland.

I keep saying I will move North or the border, I just need to get my arse in gear and do it.

Over here its the car that gets insured, and it stays with the car when it's sold

As long as the driver has a licence then thats it

So it is part of buying a new car and second hand owners don't need to do anything?

Bought a new pillar drill on eBay specifically to do a job for Barrett's work. Ordered it on Friday and paid extra for '24 hour courier', intending for it to arrive Monday so I could get the job finished by the end of this week. Still no sign of it yesterday, I sent them an eBay message asking where it had got to and they haven't responded. It's one of those massive companies that sells everything. I phoned up and listened to a recorded message telling me if it was about an eBay item, contact us through eBay...

They've got until the end of the day to respond with tracking info or I open a case and get my money back. Looking at their feedback, they've got many thousands of positive feedback, but also a lot of neutral and negative for stuff turning up broken or not at all. All the while the job sits there unfinished as there's sod all more I can do without the pillar drill. Wankers.

I once "parked" the insurance - on the Saab that Breadvan has just bought actually - because I sold the car and didn't have another car to put on the policy.

It was £65 cancellation but only £45 left to pay, so I just kept the DD going. Took the reg off though, and they confirmed that they had no further interest in that car.

Also meant they didn't try to renew without asking, as they had no idea what to quote for.

Obviously been to the dentist today (see I am a pervert :)  ) and got my new, new teeth. They don't fit. Surprise fucking surprise! Actually, they sort of do, a lot better than the first ones (now Chestered!)  but the front tooth is a bit low and at the side... Jesus, they kill! However, I got the dentist to adjust them but she wouldn't do them enough, and I just thought: 'Fuck it, I'll do it myself!' which I will.

I am a thousand quid down on these bastards (and the prior treatment) and I am still left with having to DIY them to get them right. No fucker can do anything right these days it seems. Happily, I haven't paid the bill yet and it may be some time before I do!

Mrs P has one as her daily. To be fair it's not a bad all rounder although in the US it comes with a 2.4litre engine which would make it a much more relaxed steer if available here.

I went to see my orthodontist when I was a kid and when I went in he was doing his nails with a dremel type thing, he then proceeded to trim my pallet brace with same grinder and shoved it back in my gob, at no point did it get rinsed. Same crazy fucker would remove a loose tooth by shoving his thumb nail under your gum and pop the fucker out painlessly .  He drove a nice 240 Volvo though so I let him off

I are puzzled. No mention of this on either my local Lidl's web site, OR the site when I put Doncaster as the store location. Can you say what store you bought from?

When I was about 14 I went for the 4th or 5th visit to the orthodontist.

He looked at my teeth and my brace and then said "you don't wear this do you?"

"Er.... no."

"Shall we stop wasting each others time then?"

"Suits me!"

And that was that.
