  1. So after all the drama of hooligate I guess I ought to post some car related content, but consider yourselves warned it is not autoshite, it is modern and boring and hopefully reliable and in need of nothing. However it is HOT MONDEO ACTION! I used to own half of a Mk4 which is chronicled in the first pages of this thread, but for various reasons that deal went sour. My daily ST220 cannot tow, is a tad thirsty for 12000 miles a year and to be honest I just fancied something modern and maintenance free. I’ve always thought these are friggin gorgeous. I’ll be sad to see the ST220 go because it is still immaculate and drives superbly, but this ticks every box I need it to and a few more besides. So without further ado, it’s a 2015 Mk5 Mondeo Titanium diseasal 180. Featurewise it has adaptive LED headlights (yet to try) active park assist (yet to try) electric tailgate, active city stop, lane keep assist, heated electric leather, dual zone climate hell it even has a heated steering wheel, about the only thing it doesn’t have from the options list is adaptive cruise. 19k on the clock, Magnetic Grey, 19in alloys...err, that’s about it. I know this is the antithesis of autoshite, but this is the mondeo mk4 and 5 thread, so here it is
  2. A poll would be political and therefore shut down Seriously though, I stand with John F on this (which I know counts for slightly less than fuck all) - levels of moderation are bonkers on this place, we're actually moderating in advance of any offence happening - The thought police are here...
  3. I stand with you John F! Only, a couple of paces behind and crouching down because I’m already on a warning
  4. Me yesterday referring to grumpious steaming in calling me all the names under the sun Me today Swear down I can actually see the future
  5. I've just bought a new car (details to follow on kollecshun) and one of the selling points was £30 tax. However the Gubbermint seems to have decided that people were being too green and all these environmentally friendly cars were not profitable enough, so they scrapped the incentives for people to buy green cars and just turned VED into a tax on the rich. If I were buying a post-2017 model I might as well have had a V8. (providing I could find a cheap enough V8 to escape the 'luxury' tax of course)
  6. Might as well indoctrinate teach them early on that the way to get what you want in this world is to stamp your feet and throw a hissy fit until you get it.
  7. Turns out the missus had a terrible nights sleep and woke up feeling ill, so naturally I went round before work to take her temperature, ifyaknowwhadimean As this was hungry work I stopped at a snack van on the way to work, only for some cunt to arrive 20 seconds before me with an order for the whole fucking county. So currently waiting here trying to resist the urge to throttle him by the neck until he stops breathing
  8. Sadly yes, it definitely wasn’t that sort of going to bed early lol It was all perfectly amicable though, and to be perfectly honest I’m looking forward to a night in my own bed being able to starfish, snore, fart and breathe in any direction I like Out valentines night is really Saturday, we’re going out to Miller and Carters for a steak which I am reliably informed is “to die for”
  9. I got my missus some ace flowers which she was over the moon with and some wine. Alas she decided she was very tired (to be fair she had a rough night last night with me snoring in her face) and needed to go to bed early Ho hum, valentines drinks for one, cheers
  10. For £500 i'd take a punt. Whats the MOT history looking like? Worst case scenario you end up having to frag it in December and get £150-200 back.
  11. This is the correct decision and its great that it will not be getting bridged. However not so great that I won't be able to try and get it off you broken for an insultingly low amount, then make the whole thing financially unviable trying to transport it to the midlands to get it fixed
  12. It wouldn’t help you out because the CSC is integral with the release bearing, so you can’t change it without separating the gearbox to release it off the first motion shaft.
  13. My ST220 failed in exactly the same way years ago, CSC failure as you say. Cost me £1100 for a new clutch, flywheel and CSC. That was at Ford but indy's were quoting around the same with non-genuine flywheels. I don't know about Volvo's but changing it on a Mk3 Mondeo is a complete colin hunt of a job and its worth every penny of the labour charge to have someone do it for you. Tricky one really, car is probably near worthless as it is, or spend a grand and know you have a good clutch for the next 100k+ - i'd probably spend the grand.
  14. Recently ditched BT for plusnet after they refused to negotiate anything resembling a decent deal, which actually ended in the BT salesman suggesting I go to plusnet because they can't touch them on price - so I did. I've also found that Sky are extremely willing to negotiate these days, even with existing customers. 1st year I was getting the full package with them for 75% discount as a returning customer, which worked out about £24 a month, when this expired I phoned up to cancel and they did me the same deal but minus the sports - which I never watch anyway, for £22 a month. This expired again last November so I phoned up to cancel, figuring there was no way they would repeat it for a 3rd year running, it took a bit more persistence this time but they did me another deal for £24 a month, again everything besides sports. I will go back to BT though once plusnet is up, because their new customer discounts and cashback\top cashback offers are pretty unbeatable, its just existing customers who get rogered
  15. It’s amazing the number of times I’ve been cut off when trying to cancel something, not just BT I’m sure they think if they cut you off enough times and make it sufficiently difficult you'll think, ah fuck it I’ll stay.
  16. Friend of mine has just picked up an absolute pearler of a Montego for £1200, it’s properly mint I think he got a deal because he knew the seller but surely there are more around well within the £2.5k budget.
  17. There is no such thing as an informal disciplinary, its either informal, or its a disciplinary. When can't you be accompanied to a meeting? You do not have the right to be accompanied to an informal chat with your employer or to an initial fact-finding or investigatory meeting. This is a meeting where your employer tries to find out what has happened. Even though you do not have a legal right to be accompanied, you can ask your employer to let you bring someone with you but they do not have to agree to this. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/work/problems-at-work/disciplinary-meetings/who-can-accompany-you-to-a-disciplinary-meeting/
  18. If the meeting was informal then there would be no right to representation and no appeals process, what laws exactly have been violated here?
  19. Woke up this morning, its fair to say the missus isn't exactly a ray of sunshine first thing on the best of days but today started off with immediate bellyaching that i'd been snoring\breathing through the night. Yeah sorry about that, it happens...my back was absolutely killing me too so when I got to work I wasn't exactly fully of the joys I get to my desk and there is an e-mail from my boss "could you please update problem record number blah blah blah" - kind of unusual for him because he sits directly opposite me and would normally just pop his head over for menial shit like that, so I look down the conversation history and there is an e-mail further down from someone on the service desk to my manager, his manager and his managers' manager...suggesting that I have not responded to his repeated requests to update this problem and can we 'give him a nudge' (there were no such e-mails, he hasn't e-mailed me at all since the 14th Jan, further more I have already e-mailed out the cause and resolution so everyone in this e-mail.) So I replied to all suggesting that in future, if xxxxxxxx wants me to do something he can e-mail me directly, rather than going to management behind the scenes and asking them to tell me off.. I cannot stand this underhanded behaviour, if its really that important that your form gets filled out, hows about take the 2 minutes it took you to compose your little crybaby e-mail and fill it the fuck out yourself.
  20. According to the documentation I've already been sent their kickback is £250. My Mortgage is roughly one years annual salary (that's not to say my annual salary is huge but my mortgage is fairly small) For the first time ever I have actually borrowed some on top, because if\when I move in with Mrs CF we're going to need cash to kit out a new place and they were lecturing me on the affordability of it - even though their online tool kept telling me I could borrow up to £230k... I think the only thing that's changed since the pre-banking crisis days is that now they at least pay lip service to responsible lending, before irresponsibly lending it to you regardless.
  21. Fuck sake my name has obviously been pulled out of a hat for pressure selling today First up, Mortgage, I am in the process of remortgaging so I filled out an online quotation through Experian last week, this put me through to LandC who, to be fair, got me a fairly decent deal. That was last Wednesday, now they're all up in my face giving it the hard sell "these mortgages are on a first come first serve basis" and now an e-mail that they "have heard" Coventry are about to withdraw the offer if I don't sign up by tomorrow afternoon...FFS if they're going to be dickheads about it then tell them to poke their mortgage up their bottom hole, plenty of other companies will give me just as good a deal Then some weapons grade bellend from Vodafone giving me the hard sell on home broadband, which part of "I'm still in contract with my current provider" aren't you getting, and I don't really give a crap if you give me 30Mbps faster, because I already have 40 which is plenty for streaming Netflix and Prime video so the extra 30Mbps benefits me precisely nothing. Not answering any more calls today...
  22. Blocked Charcoal canister or faulty EVAP purge solenoid (although this usually throws an EML light) Google EVAP system, its all do to with not allowing fuel vapour to escape into the atmosphere and directing it back into the inlet, kind of like an EGR system but for fuel.
