UEFA are dishing out a fine to the Russian FA because of yesterday, not fining us. Makes a nice change.

That'll sort the problem.  It's always* worked in the past.

Went to scrapyard.  I wasn't going for this - but noticed a high spec Fiesta with the same clock as my Puma - so whipped it out and bought it, in the hope that the (admittedly very minor) issue of a couple of missing LCD segments was solved - guess what?  replacement has exact same fault - what were the chances?

probably quite high, I bet it's a weak point on the pcb so may be more common than you think

My knee is suddenly extra fucked n feels like I'm going to fall over at any minute. News also from kinky girl land that she's either lost or had stolen her purse while shopping. Not a good day today.

I put the 240 up for sale on gumtree, I had a call from a Yorkshireman who's living up in Dingwall, He said he was very interested and wanted to know if there was any rust underneath. He thought I was being cheeky on the price and wanted to know the lowest I would take, I said he could come and see it and make an offer but I'm not interested in him making an offer over the phone. I said I had a ramp and could go and take some photos but I had a few photos in a flickr photo album he could look at in the meantime.

He sent a text to say he had seen the album and urged me to send him some photos of the underside.

After I went out of my way to go to the unit and put the car on the ramp I sent him the photos.

He offered me £650 for the car. I had it up for £950 but would have went to £850 if he had come out and offered the cash.

Am I being to optimistic with the price?

Yes, yes you are. You must immediately swap it for a lovely blue Citroen AX otherwise the universe will spin out of control and crash into a lamp post.

Put her on the VOC forum, you will have a more pleasant experience I think.

The price sounds fine to me and I would if I had the money.

1/3 knocked off without even bothering to come and look = chancer. Even if you accept his offer, it will magically become £500 if he actually turns up.

Absolutely right.

"What's the lowest you'll take?" Always gets the response, "What's the most you'll pay?"

That usually ends the conversation.

What Bo11ox said, he'll want it at half price.

How badly do you need to sell?

The russians are angry - all the good property in London has sold and there are no leopard skin speedos left in the marseille branch of sports direct.

That's usually what I say, I replied back that I could tell he was a Yorkshireman with that offer and left it at that.

We mustn't offend our Russian friends. I for one cannot wait for them to host the World Cup, their enlightened views on race, homosexuality and civil rights will make it a lovely place to visit. Not to mention their bid was done with the utmost honesty and was in absolutely no way corrupt

''Whats the lowest you will take'' ends the call immediately, after that he could come up with twice what i wanted he isn't having it at all.

The other ones who get my Mrs's already short fuse burning shorter is when they say they've been offered a newer better condition top of the range lower mileage one than yours for £hundreds less, that call doesn't end well either.

I remember a Wheeler Dealers, or possibly Deals on Wheels where someone was trying to buy a Fiesta.

An offer was made, say £300 and the vendor replies "I've had offers of over £500" and cool as could be, Brewer retorts "Oh yeah, why dint ya take em?"

There are wasters on both sides.

Do you have an AX you're trying to sell Ken?

I'm am distractedly angry about the most recent mass shooting in America.  It's not who was shot or where that's got to me, it's the responses from people.  "Islam should be banned", what the fuck does that even mean?  "Islam", by which I assume they mean the Islamic faith, is not to blame for this (we're not making this political, so don't even start), they didn't issue a statement to all the nutjobs saying "Go, do this horrible thing, earn points on your Nectar card."

Guns aren't to blame either.  I'm not pro-gun ownership by any stretch of the imagination but in a country like America where gun-getting is easier than salad-getting it's not the guns that are the issue here, it's how readily available they are to nutjobs.

The gays aren't the issue either.  Yes, they do appear to be a group that was targetted and yes, it's entirely likely this was a homophobically motivated attack but they are not to blame.  The students and teachers in other mass shootings were no more to blame in other events than the gays are in this one.  There's something SERIOUSLY fucked up with you if somehow you feel that a person's sexuality is deserving of them being subjected to an attack of this nature, or any attack for that matter.

No, the person to blame is the one that decided to go into that place of fun with a weapon and deliberately kill and try to kill as many people as possible.  That's what needs to be addressed.  More than a person's sexuality, religion or even gun ownership.  Finding out why a person gets to the point that they think going on a murdering spree is okay is what needs looking at and since America has practically not gone a day WITHOUT a mass shooting since the start of this year we need to find out just why people keep going out and doing this thing so it can be stopped.

Mind you, better gun ownership control might be a good idea.  It's funny how few mass shootings happen in countries with gun ownership control.

Sure, while countries with stricter gun laws have incidents it is the sheer number and scale of the incidents that makes it impossible to defend the pro gun position in the US. While other factors such as homophobia, religious extremism, mental health issues, bullying of puplis in high school or whatever have played a part in one or more of these incidents (and need to be addressed) the common factor is assult weapons and large stacks of ammunition. This is was is making the results of the incidents far worse then incidents in other parts of the Western world.

This is ALL about gun control. It sounds like this bloke was a proper nutjob, but he was easily able to buy several guns over the course of a few days. He wasn't evil, he was not right in the head, yet it was no harder for him to buy a gun than a sandwich.

To try and turn it into an Islam issue is nonsensical and Trump just repeatedly goes beyond parody. A ban on Muslims entering the US would have done nothing to stop this, seeing as the chap was born in New York.

Thats the worrying thing. If he wants rid of them will he deport them all or take more drastic measures?

Just been to te vets wiv the mutt and they relieved me of another £140. They 'insist' that she be seen by a vet every six months to check her meds. All well and good that they are keeping an eye on her I suppose, but, the vet just talked to me, never checked the dog at all and just gave her a repeat prescription (filled there always) and we went again. I get the feeling that these people are just using me/other owners as 'cash cows' as they know we want our pets looked after.

Got home and while I was trying to get a pill down Phoebes throat, Chester snuck up behind me and pinched all the chewies I'd just bought and buggered off with them - Phoebe was so annoyed she bit me!

Accidentally it must be said but it still bloody hurt!

Yes there is, but despite my hatred for the game I find myself for the first time ever taking part in a work sweepstake, and the names and teams were drawn at random. It transpires that I am supporting Sweden in this tournament...&I don't own a Volvo or a Saab.

Same here.

Another insurance grump...

My car insurance is up for renewal. Phoned to accept a quote and was told that the insurer had to check my claims history. I only have one years no claims on the 406 due to only having classic insurance until recently and had declared no at-fault accidents in the last five years which wasn't a lie. The insurer comes back and says my claims history states I was at fault for an accident in February 2015 (before my last insurance renewal in June 2015) in a coach at work where a woman drove into the side of me. As the claim was still open it could still be counted as a fault claim meaning it counts against my OWN claims history, and as such my £550 quote was more or less tripled. I didn't make the claim, nor did the company as our vehicle was more or less undamaged and was back on the road that afternoon. According to the insurance company in question, all accidents - be they in a company vehicle, a hire van/car/truck or your own car, no matter who the policy holder is, must be declared for anal pillaging purposes.

Phoned my gaffer who has graciously lent me our 07-plate Astravan to get around in for the time being as I am now without insurance and he is onto our broker whose own words were "What the fuck are they wittering on about?". Now awaiting a call back from our commercial broker to see if anything can be done.

Looks like my Shitefest transport may well be a 210k mile Astravan. Joy.

That's brilliant. I wish all insurance brokers were at least half as honest.

Starting to miss having a van. The storage alone in the back was worth it. Never having hassle of dropping seats, roof rack for larger loads. Feeling a bit grumpy over it.

Could be worse. You could have replaced a van-sized car with a RAV4...
