^^^It's because you know within your heart that what you actually want to do is work for yourself.

Whilst that may be true, it is a gamble I cannot afford to take.

It's an opportunity to work a lot nearer home which I have wanted for a long time, the boss is a really nice guy.

Most important points, right there.  Change is often difficult.

you never know unless you go!

I made the decision to go it alone . Best thing I ever did . It's bloody stressful at times and long hours but at least you know it's all for you and not lining someone else's pockets .

I am in a lucky situation where I rent the building from my dad very cheap but I kept my overheads low overall . You see so many garages get all the equipment on tick and go bust early on . It's a lot of money to find every month before you can eat .

Do it .

Make friends with everyone - all potential customers . Get a good accountant .

2 cars. One dead, the other not on the insurance anymore.

Are my insurance company open on Sundays so I can swap it back and use the Volvo again while I see if the Shitroen can be revived?

No. No they are not.

Welcome to car insurance, 1985 style....

Also....

After a week of totally failing to attract any worthwhile attention for a perfectly functioning car for a mere £300, on the day I have to press it back into service again I get a phone call and two emails from the most genuine sounding buyers yet, one asking when they could come and pick it up.

Day, and mood ruined. :(

Posted

Could be worse you could have sold it then all you'd have is a shitroen in a coma, I know, I know. It's serious

FFS. Just spent ages trawling through the Britpart and Paddocks catalogues for the square plastic things that the grille screws actually screw into. Can I find 'em, can I hell.

They are the same as the one's on Triumphs and I need some. Why is it so bloody difficult.

they have tvs in the bogs on the newer stena ferries doing just this

tried to pee in behind to short it all but it was too high

Use one of those suction devices for a couple of weeks.

People.  A colleague is getting on my tits of late.  We all sit in rows in the office, your usual delightful office set up.  I can’t seem to have a conversation these days without her butting in, or offering up some opinion or other. I’ve known her years and she’s an OK person, but she’s become a right miserable old sod.  Always moaning about something and she talks, ALL THE TIME, about random shit.  Do some work FFS.  We’ll be moving offices soon so I think I’ll bag myself a desk the other side from her as it’s driving me insane.

Salt on the roads. Its not meant to be cold not until at least next october yet the gits are still battering it on.

Shuma is starting to look a bit tatty, might bill the council for the bodyshop bill.

You get the picture, I do go in for overkill!

My road to work has been shut for about 7 months while they knocked a bridge down and resurfaced it. It was a 50mph limit running alongside the M1. No junctions, no houses nearby. Fairly quiet road, good visibility. Almost completely unused cycle path alongside.

IMO 50mph was too steady for it, I would have left it NSL:

This morning it was reopened (2 months late) and some COMPLETE WANKER has decided to set the speed limit at 30mph. It's fucking ridiculous man, there's no need for it whatsoever, I absoluteley cannot imagine the reason they have done it.

Obviously about 70% of people will just continue at the perfectly safe speed of 50/60 like they did before, and a few will stick to the limit and it'll be a complete shitshow.

and there will now be a regular traffic safety partnership van (or as they are known where I live, 'cash generator's') at one or other end ...

I live on a road about nine foot wide in places, poor visibility,animals/children/nuns etc and its a 60 limit

Work that one out

That's how it starts. A road was made into a 30 from a 40 a few years ago. Everyone, me included used to mail down it at 70+, but then one day I sped a scamera Van, and now I always people down it. Regularly hear of people getting caught there.

Thanks for the link! I need four of the little buggers. However just over six quid for postage is taking the mickey or am I being unrealistic. It comes to 9.49 in total.

Around here, it's plenty cold enough, so the salt is justified. As it slowly rots the bodywork of all of my cars and kills verges. Still, on a steep hill, it's nice to know you can stop. Oh, apart from the really steep hill they've stopped gritting for budget reasons. Gee thanks! (it's the hoon hill down to the Hafod, a feature of Shitefest '14)

Apparently you can appeal the limit which forces the council to justify......like you say there are a lot of complete wankers in positions of power and we need to fight back. However small the gesture.
