The grumpy thread

For no reason whatsoever my back is fucked today. I am in absolute agony, and I mean that. I have a high pain threshold but of fuck! I have osteo-arthritis in my lumbar spine and both knees. I have 3 prolapsed disks and 1 presses on the spinal nerve. No pain killer touches it and have been declined an op as it wouldn't change anything and would lead to more ops in the future. I can barely stand or walk at the moment without the pain taking my breath away or me wanting to really scream.

Yet here I am still thinking about shite old cars, go figure.

Some fruitloop on Gumtree wants me to deliver my cycle about 25 miles away and he'll pay me by bank transfer when I get there so I can see it's gone through as he doesn't carry cash and it's better for me.

Sadly for him, I checked my birth certificate and it didn't have yesterdays date on it.

Sorry to hear about your mum DVee8, hope she pulls through okay.

Went to see my mate's mum - she has dementia, I have not seen her since she was diagnosed.

I have known her for 38 of my 42 years.

She did'nt know who I was.

All the best for your mum DVee8.

Why do people with rover v8's buy used camshafts?

Do they not realise they will kill a new / different set of followers due to the wear patterns?

An expensive way of saving money.

More pedantry than grumpiness: why is it OK to say E Type Jag, but saying Robin Reliant is a massive problem?

It's 19 years since we finished uni. Let's go out to the land of plenty that is Huddersfield.

Grump #1: People are arseholes. 4 of us turned up. 4. 1 who didn't come phoned me today and was saying well it's a shame more couldn't make the effort. What, like you didn't?

Grump #2: Time makes weaklings of us all. 4pm we start on the sherbets. We are invincible. Good job the hotels got a 24 hour bar etc. By 9pm I'm wankered and begging for coke. Rick goes to the bar and asks what's your lowest strength beer? Right I'll have half of that please. We'd gone to bed by midnight.

There's a load of stuff I should/could be doing today, but I cba.  My cold's gone, I had something resembling sleep last night, and we even went out to the theatre (Pirates of Penzance).  Today I've had a good dinner, followed by a Bond film, so life should be Hunky Dory.  But it isn't.  Grump.

Paul Whitehouse. Wtf?

I have always wondered if the Aviva adverts were meant to be serious or if the gag was it was obviously Paul Whitehouse dressed up a bit doing a terrible version of a regional accent.

Now I see he has managed to make a TV series of the same thing.

Is it that the joke is on me, as a licence payer?

Been to visit my 89 yr old nan in hospital this afternoon, has osteoporosis, a broken arm, and really cannot do anything for herself anymore but says she is fine to go home now........to a 3 bed house!! Bit of a cack situation really, hopefully a nursing home is sorted in the next couple of days because the situation is becoming daft, and sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

It's hard but you have to do it. My Gran was similar, she was diagnosed with alzheimers 4 or 5 years ago, but she ended up falling and breaking her hip in October 2011. She had a replacement op and was successful but her mobility had turned to shit as a result, even though she'd been good before, physically she'd been strong as an ox. They ummed and ahhed about her going back to her council bungalow, but she couldn't because she was unable to use a walking frame as she only had one hand (she lost her right hand aged 14 (1930) in a machine in her job at a mattress factory...) She could use a walking stick but she was rubbish on it. She ended up going in a home. She hated it, as you would, especially as she'd been so independent, what with the disability, and being a widow since 1983 and so proud about bringing 4 kids (one of them my late mother) up on it...

My Gran finally passed a fortnight ago after 3 years in the home...She was 98 and would have been 99 in September. She had a great life though, was proud of everything she'd done and absolutely loved her family, grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Funeral tomorrow, so I'll be hammered this time tomorrow night...

She sounds a lovely old sausage. Have a virtual scoop off me for her

Had a wedding coach job last night so didn't get back home till 3 this morning after getting the thing ready since 10am Saturday. Felt shit all day today until now. Now I'm wide awake. Great, I've got to be up in 5 hours to get ready for a weeks tour of sunny Watford.

Fucking body clock.

Sick of this bastard weather - the UK must surely be the windiest inhabited place on earth?

I have had that for the last couple of days, although today it is clearing. Fed up with feeling like someone squeezing my head.
