High Jetter Posted February 10, 2025 Posted February 10, 2025 4 hours ago, Talbot said: People in cars, in general, really are self-entitled nasty arseholes, and I have utterly had enough of them. While trying to be a bit more concious of not driving 1.2 miles to work, I have tried cycling, only to have about 5% of drivers execute really very dangerous close passes on me, including one utter cunt, working for amazon, who while I was turning right off a main road, overtook me. I was inches from being under a sprinter, all because some arrogant shithead (with whom I had already made eye contact and he saw my signal and intentions) couldn't wait 5 fucking seconds to allow me to complete my turn. That, clearly not working, means I have now tried walking. I have to cross a fairly major road while doing so, and in most instances it's not awful. Except when you get another shithead drive straight at you because they've come around a roundabout or a bend in the road at the speed of light, and are at a dangerous speed. Extra points to the utter utter wankers who, when they see a pedestrian crossing the road, then accelerate towards said pedestrian. Because they can't possibly stand to lose 1 second on the road? Top marks this evening to the self-entitled little shithead who, on exiting a roundabout where I was already crossing, slowed down to allow me to finish crossing, but then blasted her horn at me, as if she couldn't lose 5mph just to allow someone to finish crossing the road. That pushed me over the edge, and the empty celebrations tub that I was carrying home got forceably launched at her bonnet and windscreen. I hope I scared the living shit out of her and she has a good long think about the utter shit that she is. Didn't stop either, just drove off into the distance. It is seriously time to put the emphasis on testing the driver at least as much as we test the car. The condition and quality of the driver is far more important than the condition of the car IMO. I am absolutely fucking done with modern roads. Have we seriously become so car-centric that it's impossible to travel a walkable distance to work without driving? Fuck Everything. An AS voice of reason, tested towards your limit. Yep, they're all idiots.

Zelandeth Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 Been away over the weekend. Had a great time, just on the road heading home now (being a passenger in your own car is really weird). Just had a message from the in-laws who have been house (and dog) sitting for us: Apparently we have no heating this morning. Great! Why can't we ever just have something nice without there being a sting in the tail at the end? Hopefully it's just the random once every year and a half or so occasion when the pilot light has gone out for no readily explicable reason. Though they are utterly non technical people so are being told to just turn an electric heater on if needed (there's a good reason I've kept a few) and wait.

alcyonecorporation Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 Accepted a lift from a friend of a friend with a Tesla. A lorry nearly flattened us, and you're willingly driving around* with this thing freaking out at gantries?! Not getting in a Tesla again. Fuck that. The bloke driving didn't even say sorry. Perhaps you can get the self-drive to take you to EMR Metals, mate, then forget to get out, yeah? Perhaps it'll crash into a gantry/wall on the way there, and you can save everyone the hassle. *By the way, before theTesla apologists come on and point out that you can turn said system off, I really couldn't give a fuck. beko1987 Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 I nearly part caused an accident this morning on the m40... Strolling up lane 2 a car dove out of lane 1 with no indication. I indicated, checked to my left and pulled into l3 mildly sharpish, just as it seems an Astra decided to do the same from somewhere behind me, but booted it, so I ended up pulling right out infront of him 😬 Saw him once he took evasive action and the prick who had pulled out had snuck back across to l1 a bit so we ended up briefly 3 abrest across lanes 2 and 3 horns ablaze😂 I gave a sheepish wave to the astra driver and needed a fag afterwards. I must learn the massive fucking blindspots this new car has, plus once I do the cambelt I could have floored it away more than I did which would have eased the situation. As Harry said, just like a proper qashqai driver 😂 myglaren 1

Dad's hates the traffic being at a dead stop infront of it. I had it happen again on the m6 last Friday night. We went from 60 down to about 35 when it just beeped at me and stopped braking... I was more prepared for it this time so just braked myself but the beep made dad shit himself 🙄 If your rolling along and the speed change is gradual it's fine, but I end up covering the pedals most of the time just incase now, as my brain would have wandered off too far to catch it when it does happen otherwise. Plus I bet the car freaks out and goes hands off conveniently at the timing that a black box/insurance read of the ecu after the crash would out the blame solely on the driver having had "adequate time to stop within the letter of the law" despite maybe not having touched a pedal for the preceding 200 miles 😬
