I’m shuffling around bank accounts to take advantage of savings account that’s giving 4.01% yield vs 0.00% I have now. Why is this a grump? I just got stopped by automated antifraud, freezing the transaction and marking it for a review on Monday. I didn’t even do a full clean, I started with 1/3 of the sum first. Fucksake.

I had a very small of inheritance from a revelative, who died without a will. The relative died in the UK I am in Spain. My inheritance got stopped due to  money laundering laws. I wanted the money to go into a Wise account to take advantage of when the exchange rate (£ to €) was better for me. The solicitor wanted to send a cheque . That would not have been easy to cash here in Spain because we do not use cheques and it would have been in £s. It was my money, can I not ask for it to be paid in anyway I requested?  A small bit of research I found the UK  money laundering  laws are not exactly clear on what they consider to be possible money laundering.

Change of subject - why is it whenever I have to drive at sunset I'm always driving at the sun, which is always placed exactly right to shine between the sunvisors above the mirror, or through the gap between the A pillar and the end of the visor?

And even if I negotiate a bend in the road, a few seconds later it's back to where it was, blinding me?

I need my relatives to move 😁

Found this beautiful creature ( a southern hawker) in the front grill when I got back from frensham ponds after a bike ride. Don’t think it appreciated the 60mph drive although it was still alive. Coaxed it onto a stick and left it to dry out and left it some sugar water but it didn’t make it.

Looks like a mature one, so it may have been approaching the end anyway; they only last ~6 weeks. Great to see the more exotic native invertebrates buzzing about given the general gloom over the environment.

It's only money laundering if you got it through illegal activity.

It's just that you need to convince a bank that it came from a will. That's the solicitors problem. Tell him/her the account you want it paid into and if necessary get him/her to convince said bank that it's clean money.

Coming back to the UK to find crying letters from a couple of bills demanding payment. Some agencies are properly up their own arses. What a welcome home 🤬

Went to the cinema with the Mrs. Didn't go too well.

Got on a bus, plonked the Mrs on a seat, and stood, only going 2 stops. For the first time in my life someone offers me a seat, so I must officially be an old giffer now.

Cinema is a vue. Oh no, big queue for tickets says Mrs. I engage lateral thinking, pull out phone and book, saving £2 in the process. Win!

Mrs then wants over priced ice cream. Approach ice cream counter. Oh, if you want ice cream you have to queue in the tickets queue. Eh? There's like 10 tills selling tickets, when I get to front of huge ticket queue is someone going to run up here and get ice cream? Fuck that noise.

Film eventually starts. What's wrong with this picture?

Is it too much to expect not to have light shining on the screen? There's a lot of dark in space films.

TLDR: Vue can fuck right off.

And your problem when the solicitors want paying for doing that.

At £200 or whatever an hour it'll be expensive, like anything to do with solicitors.

Monged out of his mind idiot next door has a child. A hyperactive one. Last week the thick bastard bought her a whistle, and she tooted the fucking thing morning noon and night. She's now got a cap gun, and is attempting to recreate the Somme.

Not the child's fault, but he just tells her to "play in the garden" while he gets stoned in the house. Think I should order her a drum kit from amazon. Play daddy* a nice song.....

At least you're not in the US, he'd probably have bought her a real gun.

Be nice. But the kid some sweets, more sugar and e-numbers the better. See how they like hyperactivity all night long.

She could learn to play "Lila's Dance" by the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Some 'rapid fire' drumming in that once it gets going.

It was the solicitor  who held it back. It was not the bank. Solicitors evidently also have a duty to ensure there is no money laundering.

I ordered an LPG mixer plate for Florida. Actually, I ordered two just in case so I have a spare. Guy #1 shipped it on Friday, I get a message on Saturday that delivery is scheduled. I need to pop out. I call the delivery guy, phone is off. I leave the money with the store on the ground floor. I come back home, no one called, no one dropped off the parcel. 4PM I get an updated “sorry we missed you” status. No you fucking didn’t, I was there! Your phone is turned off! No attempted delivery note either.

Right, fine, it’s in the post office on Monday then. What’s this, not my post office? Nevermind, I’ll drive there on lunch break. Oh, what’s that, it’s temporarily* working until 2PM not 7PM? Fine, I’ll pick it up tomorrow morn…oh, it works from 1PM tomorrow.

Guy #2 shipped it today, not on Friday as we agreed. As the usual delivery driver is on holiday, I have a distinct feeling that one will be a wild chase as well.

Chances of having the car fully functional this weekend- rapidly slimming 🙄

When we thought we might have a problem with the council, and a nonexistent footpath, I rang a couple of solicitors to see what the score was.

Cheapest was £395 an hour

Don't know if that was plus vat, I didn't get that far

Find a cymbal in a rubbish bin and he can play along to ‘One More Red Nightmare’…

I still can't believe that we have 2 competing delivery services here in Bg,

Both guarantee overnight shipping with an inspection option where you pay the return shipping if you refuse an item.

And cash on delivery.

They've both put up their minimum charges to around 7lev (£3 ish)

Now you do need to pick up at a local store but that's not a problem. You can ask for home delivery for an extra lev or 2 but with Bg addresses being so lackadaisical, you usually meet the van at the village square anyway.

We have like 6, all useless. Post owned PostExpress is usually least shit one, but it’s very dependent on the courier. The chap that usually does my part of the city is amazing, and I always talk cars and life with him.
Prices are comparable with yours, which is an insult as Bulgaria is much bigger than Serbia. Cash on delivery is an extra charge with all of them.

They all have “convince” option of store or box machine pickup, but the price is equal to what you would pay for home delivery, so I never really understood why would you bother. Maybe if you’re at work and they’re trying to deliver to home, so you send it to self-service box?

By store I meant each courier have their own dedicated shop, pretty much any small town will have 1 somewhere.

Econt is the main company and deliver to Romania and Greece as well, with Speedy doing things slightly differently.

Speedy are bringing in the drop boxes but most of the older generation don't "get it"..

Dhl are partnered with Econt for anything to go overseas,or if you need stuff to definitely get anywhere.

I'm glad to see your couriers are as bad as ours. A few months back I was waiting for a starter motor and the courier, DPD, gave me a one hour window for delivery. I was sat looking out of the window when I got the sorry we missed you email. I have a very good view of our road from the window and nobody came.

The message continued to say they would deliver it to a local shop where I could pick it up and they would let me know when it was there. About an hour later the email arrived so I went straight to the shop. It wasn't there. Any attempt to contact DPD was futile as it would start with a request for the item number to which they would just tell me it was at the shop which it wasn't.

Five days later I get another email saying it was being returned to the sender with no explanation of where it had been or why, seeing as they had found it, couldn't they deliver it to me.

Once it arrived back at the seller he resent it with Royal Mail which is handy as I work at the local delivery office and could intercept it as soon as it arrived.

I mean we're not perfect, and are probably getting worse, but some of the other couriers are terrible. But as I've said before a lot of it is down to the individual staff. Hermes/evri have a terrible reputation but the lady that does it round here is brilliant. She's been doing it years, she's really friendly, likes the dog and we've never had any problems.

Is it in a UK bank account? Did the bank flag it up, when the person was alive?  If not then where's the issue?

Milton Keynes

Had to drive through it twice over the weekend

driving standards are abysmal, seems everyone is booting it everywhere

how many roundabouts does a city need?

every half a mile another roundabout

the sheer volume of traffic as well

im used to County Durham, where driving is pleasant for the most part so this was a massive culture shock and my relaxed approach to driving didn’t seem to work

dont even get me started on the current state of the M1, so many roadworks

They may as well just reduce the speed limit permanently to 50mph along the whole length of the M-fucking-1 and have done with it, given that about 95% of it is reduced to that with bullshit average cameras all the time anyway.
