Unloading the dishwasher and I manage to drop a wine glass on the counter, and it just fucking exploded in razor sharp shards of glass all over the kitchen, so I'm stood there barefoot surrounded by glass like the shittest tribute to John McClane in Die Hard. Managed to get away from it without shredding myself, started clearing up and vacuuming the 8.46 billion shards of glass up, at which point a string of lamps we have up in the lounge (open plan) comes off their sticky pads, falls down and knocks a clock off the wall. Said clock falls to the floor and the 300mm diameter glass front.. you guessed it, explodes into another 5 billion shards, all over the entire room. Taken me an hour to be confident I've cleared up all the glass. It was absolutely sodding everywhere. Bits on almost every surface of both rooms. Fucks sakes! I'd suggest I need a glass of wine after that, but I broke my favourite glass. Bollocks. Sounds like you need an exorcist!

jakebullet Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Hey it's snowed! This may be why the flats fancy air source heating system has gone totally tits up. Again. Everyone has a booklet with deets of who to ring when it goes wrong. You would think 100 flats without heat or hot water would be a priority, but it's more a game of make it someone else's problem. The council, system installers, and the peeps who do the billing are all saying it's the other lots responsibility. It's the council on the weekends, but when they're not answering the phone, what are you supposed to do? Erebus, myglaren and Coprolalia 3

reb Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 It snowing has rather wonderfully coincided with running out of heating oil. Turns out 2 bars = fuck all. Thought I had another week in it still, it's still showing 2 bars despite no hot water or heating. Brrrrr. Wibble, Coprolalia and myglaren 3

To be fair, the M62 turns into an A Road about 400 yards before the lights and at the lights there is no crash barrier at all. There is grass. The others are motorways but have steel barriers.

Zelandeth Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Every time I've phoned Hagerty from home they've answered within 30 seconds. Of course today I need them to push the button on a vehicle change while I'm out...and I've been waiting 30 minutes and counting now. Go figure. Sitting outside the seller's house twiddling my thumbs. Hopefully soon...

Saabnut Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Monday I was looking forward to going home after 15 days away on a 10 day job. Yesterday I booked a flight, taxi and arranged to drink coffee with my mate when picking up my car around 2100 So why is this a grump? I am writing this in Bergen airport on my way to Stavanger and joining another boat tomorrow. All my weekend plans have been scuppered and it will be another “7 to 10 days” before I get to see my home again. Perfect run up to Christmas 😀 And people wonder why I want to give it up 😎 myglaren, Coprolalia, cort1977 and 3 others 1 5

Today's grump: Removing standing water from a car is significantly more difficult when it's in solid form because it got down to -5C last night. Wish I still had my dessicant dehumidifier - as it also worked as a 600/900W fan heater it was perfect for jobs like this. Coprolalia, Remspoor and Rust Collector 3

Zelandeth Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Glad I read the leaflet in the new asthma medication I was prescribed a couple of weeks ago and finally actually got today. Specifically states, in capital letters, do not take with two other meds I'm on. Guess who's going to spend the next several afternoons bashing his head against the nearest wall trying to get any sense out of his GP (they of course have cancelled the repeat of the one I've been on before - for the last 26 years when prescribing the new one). Thankfully I've got enough left to see me through a week or so - but it takes at least a week for them to actually issue a script once I've managed to get them to actually acknowledge my existence. It takes eight to ten weeks to get an appointment with them (in theory), but they insist on chasing me every six months for an asthma review...in which nothing has changed in the slightest since I was 12. Could that poor nurse not be allowed to spend their time doing something more useful? Taking bets on how long I wind up being sans an inhaler I can use? I'm betting 3 weeks.
MikeR Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 We noticed Santa could not get his arse down the chimney because of the back boiler ... With this in mind we whipped it out , along with the water heater , plumbed in a new combi and for good measure the old cooker as well to cook his mince pies on a new cooker .. Fixed some pipes and floorboards And now all is well Datsuncog, sdkrc, chaseracer and 5 others 8
richardmorris Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 My grandparents house had a back boiler- I suspect it’s still there.

Go back to.the pharmacist and explain your concern first. They are duty bound to spot this sort of problem, and contact the GP before they dispense it. Note daughter has worked in community pharmacy, and spent alot of time, ringing doctors to say, "You can't prescribe C, to this patient, because you have also prescribed A, B and D, maybe you could change D, to.E and then replace C with F" But now works in a hospital where most of her conversations with doctors, are along the same lines, and she frequently stops stupid mistakes by doctors, although in ITU where she was recently it was more a case of if you give them A it won't work and they Will die because of B. If you don't give B, they will die. Actually it would be a less painful death if you gave them A and C but they will still die. myglaren and chaseracer 2

You may be able to buy the one you need and reclaim the cost. I had to go to a local chemist when mine ran out at work, bought one and they told me about recovering the cost. Never bothered as it was only six quid. I did try and buy a different one for my daughter when it wasn't included on her prescription but wasn't able to with that one, prescription only.
