Tumble dryers.

How much fluff/crap is acceptable getting past the draught excluder type seal around the front of the drum . Some I have stripped down have the inside of the cabinet and electrics smothered in it and some even the element area with a layer of fluff , no wonder they catch fire😕

it goes up like fuck, I save the stuff from the filter for lighting the fire. The slightest bit of flame and the whole thing is alight in seconds.

We used to use it for that too. Just ditched the tumble dryer in the end, had an old school White Knight one before a Hotpoint that lasted about three years before being recalled then shitting itself.

I dropped the Puma off at my friendly mechanic this morning,the rear suspension was noisy & the prime suspect was the shock absorber top mounts.

I get a call just after 10.00,he says one of the shocks has burst,& is leaking fluid.This is not the end of the world,but they were only fitted in September for the MOT & I didn't use it over the winter.

I contacted the garage who did the MOT work.They were very helpful,saying that they should be under warranty,& they will contact the supplier.

I got a call back later,they've spoken to the supplier who says the warranty is only for six months,so has run out.

They're still hopeful that they may be able to get something back from the supplier due to the low mileage covered,but I'm not expecting this to end in my favour 🙁

If those things arent moved as often (i.e yearly) as they should I've seen them weld themselves to the housing - have had to hammer and chisel them off in the past. Then when removed the threads felt rough like sandpaper indicating a few too many hot-cold heat cycles without being touched... 

Common on transits, though I suppose it would be as they tend to do mega mileage before they see a service

No matter how frequently I clean mine out, the lip between the drum and outer shell always collects a layer of fluff after a few uses. Its just a small white knight vented jobby, that doesn't really get used much. Though more recently I've been hoovering it out every so often to be on the safe side. If only the lint trap actually did its job 🤦‍♂️

I should stop using that garage if that's the kind of rubbish they fit. What make of shock was it?

Am hoping it's screenwash, planning to sort the non-pumping pump later this week anyway. It's not oil, anyway.

It figures. I put a pair on 2 years ago and one definitely knocks on rebound. The original Renault shocks lasted 240k Kms, and these, about 40k.

I'd depends on the air path to some extent.  When we heard the news of the recall I gained access to ours to check it out.  A little bit of lint in the outer case, but very, very little.  Pulling the cover off the heater block revealed it to be spotless.

Probably because I clean it out regularly and had replaced the rest bearing several times so the drum didn't drop and come away from the felt seal at the front.

I did wonder why the air intake wasn't kept totally outside the machine -  but I guess it's accounting for them often being stuffed under kitchen units etc where a side or rear mounted intake wouldn't necessarily work.

Yeah. I was familiar with those. So I silenced some fuckwits that uttered similar 'sentiments' a few years ago. 

I asked a simple question:

If these Rover 75 2.0 V6 cars are so shit, explain to me how it was possible that mine took me on my longest road trip of 720 Road Miles in 17 hours and 45 minutes. To Central Europe. 

I had photographic evidence too. Shut them up good and proper. Essentially I had driven to Cornwall and back in one trip in terms of distances for context...

If you can get hold of used toilet rolls, stuff each of them and market them on etsy as environmentally* friendly fire lighters. 

Note: I once made a batch and gave them to @MikeR as a Christmas present.

I use the kitchen paper tubes - never  a hassle getting a fire going....... works a treat

Just found out that my local Rover specialist has been forced to close due to redevelopment plans. Been taking my cars here for as long as I’ve been able to drive, and it’s the only place I’ve really felt able to trust for the more complex jobs and that in-depth MGR knowledge when you need it.
 

Particularly rubbish for the guys who were running the place, as it was basically an employee buy-out when the owner retired, and they only took over a couple of years ago. Hope they manage to land on their feet and find something else quickly.

It runs and drives fine but the abs light is on.

I mean a garage specialising in cars that ceased production 15 years ago and are probably worth sub £1,500 is never going to be a wise business proposal. That said it is a shame when the last places shut their door like this because it’s probably one of the few places to get some jobs done properly.
