I once got stopped for overtaking on a bend.  I could see across the fields, the whole road for about 1/3 mile. The road is 15 foot above the field and no hedges. I never went over 50 mph in a 60. To overtake an old dear in a Micra doing 20 mph. 

I had to laugh when they suggested my overtaking them might scare them.  And they might crash. 

I take your point. But if they are that unaware of the cars around them, and clearly failing to keep up with the traffic maybe you should be looking at when they ladt had thier eyes tested.

I once got stopped due to an altercation with another motorist, ready for the inevitable bollocking or whatever, the copper searched the cars found a big bag of weed in the other car. Told me to go away pretty much, I’m assuming because he’d dropped on the other car having the drugs on board couldn’t be arsed with dealing with me.

Spent hours last week inputting all my accounts onto the much-lauded (and free) Wave cloud accounting system. Dead snazzy, but then I realised some of the advertised features didn't work. 

It got worse. Yesterday, all non-US and Canada customers basically got told to GTF with no notice at all....

Fuck you very much. The alternative (Zoho) is a year's free subscription, but the general consensus amongst Wave users is that it's shit.

Does anyone here use Brightbook ? Looks promising.

Got mine on an excel spreadsheet.  One tab for each month. One tab for invoiced amounts and Vat, one tab for expenditure One tab for salaries/paye/nic, one tab for every pay slip, one tab for every invoice, one tab for every expences claim I've made. 

Then multiple Pdfs in a folder.  Folder stored on 2 laptops and an external hard drive and every document emailed from a gmail account to an outlook account (so it's also in the cloud - which is just someone else's big computer in a building in Derby (probably)

My turnover is not at a level where I'd have to do it on software, but there's a list here of approved free software.

I have use sage for many years and I don’t find it a user friendly piece of software at all but chose it initially as it seemed almost an industry standard and accountants seemed to like it . 
Fast forward about 6 years , one wife and two book keepers later in back to doing it my self . Finally got the hang of it , books more up to date and less mistakes than ever before then the accountant drops the bombshell 

 

“ As of next year we won’t be supporting Sage customers “

My accountant recommended that too but why would I want to pay each month when I have perfectly good Sage - 2 versions - bought and paid for? I just send in the .pdf reports from Sage and he does the rest.

A really insignificant grump, but the "arty" perfume adverts on TV are really getting my piss boiling. Worst of the lot is the one for Daisy. Arrrgggghhh!

I'm writing this, because some of you might have a telly.

You may or may not regularly take TV choice magazine. 

As you may know, at xmas, the publishing schedule of said mag becomes a little frantic

And the regular on-sale dates ie. every Tuesday go out of the window. 

One minute it's issue 49 as normal, then issue 50 - on sale Sat 28 Nov, Issue 51 - on sale Thur 03

And the bumper xmas special - on sale Tues 08.

So there I was, all up to date and then this morning Thur 03,

Obviously I had ordered issue 51 as part of my Sainsbury's delivery

But the young lad brought me issue 50! 

And it goes without saying, that I already have a copy, annotated & tucked by the side of the set.

 

'Listen Mate', says I, 'this is no good'.

'This is next week's telly guide, I don't want that'

'I want the week after's!'

You'd think I'd asked for the moon on a stick, the lad's gob dropped open...

 

He shrugged and said, 

'Watch a lot of telly do you?'

'Is this still available?' from someone who saw an advert for my car. In the window of the car. 

Someone offering me £575 for a bike that was £695 no offers, who then later said they could 'pay a bit more' and then when questioned offered £450. I asked them how that worked and they just replied 'like I said earlier I haven't got the full price'.

Still plenty of random questions followed minutes later by '????' at 3.00am etc, they just get blocked.

Car is due for the Spanish equivalent of a MOT (ITV). Went to start the car but it failed.

Garage came out this morning said the glow plugs are weak and either a relay or the fuel pump (in the tank) is no longer working.

The car has left the house on the back of a truck. Do not know when I will get it back in these Covid times. The truck coming out to collect the car is a service is included in all insurances here.

When my Fiats front suspension started making odd noises, the bloke at the car dealers said to ring my insurers to get it to him via the breakdown service. 

Should have done that when my motorbike suffered a dead battery.

Found out yesterday that my chod friendly MOT tester of the last 4 years was retiring and today was his last day. I saw him so often we have become friends  so this afternoon I drove the 30 miles over to thank him, shake his hand and wish him well for his retirement. Got to find another chod friendly tester now.....

Sad to hear that. I still remember how kind he was to my Yaris when you and I happened to be at that garage at the same time.

I can thoroughly reccommend the council test centre in stonehaven. First of all its the only truly independant test centre in the area since it doesnt have a garage attached so theres no conflict of interest. Secondly and more importantly, it just has  the same 2 old guys all the time and they have been really helpfull to me over the years, from using exhaust paste to stop the exhaust leaking on a nissan to tuning the carburettor on my lada so both would pass the emissions test.
