Perhaps some ingenious camouflage is required

Hypothetically, if one was to post a reply to a 'Notice of intended prosecution' (80mph on a 70mph road), and didn't have any DL-size envelopes.

Would it be a good or bad idea to send it enclosed in a Christmas card, perhaps with a note wishing seasons greetings and thanks for keeping the roads nice and safe?

Your registration is almost the same as the reaction of everyone who saw that episode of The Word in the nineties.

If the phrase 'OMG' had been in common use then. Which it wasn't.

Ah yes, the weekly gamble of whether it was worth the teeth-grinding torture of Terry Christian's voice, just to see the guests. Probably was, that week.

Shit, must be the time of year. I am at a funeral on Wednesday for a 12 yr old lass but she had been very ill for a long time. Didn't stop it being a shock though. Second one this year under 16 :-(

Never a good time but Christmas seems to make it twice as bad for the families.

Back to being grumpy - watching traffic cops. They keep getting cars with no registered keeper - how the flip does that happen, and more importantly why do we allow it?

Fill In fake name and address on logbook or genuine name and address of someone you don't like, log it as in trade - cars frequently get flipped on to other dealers and there's no way I know of to update who has it now once it's in trade.

Only other way would be to take all your id to an official body and pay a fee to have them check IDs etc, guess how well that works after business hours....

As far as I can make out "no registered keeper" essentially means "in the trade".  Generally if a vehicle "in the trade" gets caught on camera doing something mildly naughty, they don't normally bother to pursue it as it's too much hassle.  Could be useful for anyone visiting Newcastle on a regular basis.

I seem to recall something akin to a sopping wet and very dead hamster.

They can still trace you even if the car is 'ghosted' in the trade. Someone moved my car from a garage forecourt onto a main road and the police got hold of me from my insurance details.

Lass that lived next door but one to me was a wrong'un, one night someone came round and lobbed a paving slab through the windscreen of her Hyundai Coupe. Called the cops and they said the car was showing as in trade, so they wanted me to confirm that I'd seen her using it.

Seems to be they'll fill out the yellow slip with a fake dealer, then the car can get passed around and nobody notices.

Fuck today, life's already kicked me in the face three times. Need a bloody drink.

The lovely Petra Kvitova was attacked in her apartment today with a knife.  She's severely injured.

That's today's grump - violence against women.

It always bugs me when there are "loopholes" like this - the episode of Traffic Cops had quite a few examples of some quite tasty motors (as well as a few sheds) that apparently didn't belong to anyone.  Of course I am not going to advocate a super draconian regime here, but there is clearly something very lacking in the system.

With cars "in trade" you can now use the on line system to transfer them in the trade so the DVLA should have an idea who has them. I won't sell a car to someone wanting to put it as a trade sale unless they can give me a letter head or business card to prove it. I am sure the DVLA will soon start to chase up traders who don't notify sales correctly.

Just eating a cream cracker and... another tooth has gone. That's four in the last month or so. That is a pretty epic failure rate by anyone's standards? Dentist is booked for just after Christmas but at this rate, there'll be nothing to go see him with!

Also (first world problems) I've been waiting in for hours for my Sainsburys delivery and it still isn't here.

The Tesco delivery turned up today with all our stuff for out Christmas dinner we made on a special christmas order. Expiry date on all the food 23rd December.

Stick Christmas up your arse Tesco!

I've since been to Aldi and got everything we need (and a lot of stuff we didn't) for less money. Should have done that in the first place.

I don't know who she is (sorry) but every day is a sad day if men have been violent to women.

An age old gripe of mine that I've noticed is happening more again recently is people driving up to junctions at 100mph and you don't think they're going to stop in time, and/or they try and push out into traffic.

Our yard's full of them, no registered keeper, stolen with keys and pool cars. I had no idea there is so much car crime until I had to go fetch/ tidy up the aftermath. Also how some folk will walk away from what are some quite desirable motors for the sake of 3-400 quid.. and happily leave sat nav and suchlike in them to go to the scrappies.
