Arundel Gate, Sheffield. An atmospheric pic, but what is the white & brown estate/van with windows in the background? Has the look of a Hillman about it,  the rear wheel arches suggest a '50's Minx, but the front ones don't. Or is it a Vangaurd missing the rear spats?

It's funny you should say that; I've just had a shower, during which, out of nowhere I thought 'Ford Prefect Estate' something like this...

Which, is labelled as a '100E Squire Estate', is the 300E a later version, or a different engine or something?

It was the Ford Thames 300E van with side windows cut to make an estate and folding tailgate - the first use of the Escort name I think.

If you felt posher you got the Squire - which had more trim and even some woody bits.

In effect: Anglia trim  = Escort. Prefect trim = Squire. I think the engines were the same.
