I had this car in about 2008. At the time it was the most structurally sound w124 id seen. I went mental on it with the bilt hamber wax in all box sections. In glad to see its still around. it looks like its never had an MOT fail on corrosion ever since šŸ˜‚

It suprising how many seemingly perfect w124s have rot in and around the rear subframe mounts. When i got this up in the Ā the air and the rot prone areas on this were sound i was quite shocked. It was also quite an unusual spec- blue black paint/ mb tex- 7 seats, and a manual. Its suprising how much more telaxing a manual is on the motorway- 2800 vs 3400 at 70 and with those slightly coarse merc 4 cylinder engines of that era (it was a k/92 and a 2 valve engine) it makes a difference.

It's well in the ULEZ zone. Odd decision to buy a non-compliant car if you live in Hackney and using it to shift stuff.

Looks like a serious bit of negative camber on rear wheel unless it's just the angleĀ

Where's that thread about jobs you'd like to do? Can I nominate official* government caravan inspector, where a series of miserable old bastards (ok, just me) go round investigating horror shows like this and taking a flame thrower to all that kitsch shite?

That flower pattern looks like original CI design from the 70s.

Surely someone ici must purchase cette bagnole, non?

"always had whatever it needed doing" "unfortunately the radiator has given up and no longer retains it's water."

"only one taxed in the country"

(Also one for the 'what's the last car to have a choke thread'.)

"The interior is well looked after"

If you can afford to live in Hackney these days 4 and half bags a year to drive ya Benz is pocket change. Still plenty of folk camera dodging too.

Wish there were mire pics on the listing.

"StillĀ plenty of folkĀ camera dodgingĀ too." How do they attempt that? - there are cameras both on all the boundaries as well as all over inside the zone.Ā

That 19 is rare being a 1.8 manual, probably shifts quite well.Ā

Shame it absolutely tanked an MOT in 2022 as well, a lot of sellers seem to omit that fine detail these days.Ā

These are a very good looking car. Saw one here in France at the weekend. Very nice indeed.

Colour on that one is different. Nice.
Re the MOT - I think a fair few cars come up against a repair that's beyond the owner (time, money, skill) so they SORN the car and the job never gets done. Then they need to shift it so you get ads like this one. Could just be something daft like a stuck calliper (or major like a borked gearbox....)

If you can live with something that looks like a double decker hearse crossed with one of those Bovura coaches, this is potentially quite good value for money.

One of the doors has took a bit of a twatting, but Ā£850 seems incredible value for money to me.

Hmmm - a Rexton on Steroids (or some bad Turkish plastic surgery)?Ā
One of the kiddy winkies fancies a smol camper thing but the Ā£710 tax on that would put a crimp in their budget. Wonder if there's be an export market for the engine/gearbox?

There are quite a few of those in Spain. Not sure the current legislation on imports from the UK would make it worth anyone here buying it.
