My late Mum got a new Astra hatch in ‘88, 5 door, moss green metallic, I think. Four speed 1.3 but was a lively thing with a similar shit AM/MW radio (Atlantic 252 was the favoured channel I think). I happily drove it from Glasgow to Reading and back and Glasgow to Donegal. Was much faster than my 1.6 Cortina.

I posted this before but passed again today and could see the sign in window better. Its ÂŁ2800 and comes with ÂŁ1000 of spares (not sure actually it it was ÂŁ1000 or ÂŁ1000s )

Potential bargain there, assuming you could get the main one running and it sounded ok.

Wasn't there a 'thing' about these back in the day where because they're just over 900cc you got bummed into the next insurance group up, or something like that?

Someone has tried to make a Sherpa coupe look like an Aston Martin.  The engine has been replaced by an O series from a Princess so I imagine Commander Bond would have no trouble dispatching Xenia Onatopp‘s Ferrari.
