Hmm, not sure a runner-up prize at FOTU is enough to double the market value of a car...

It wasnt even runner up. it was a chairman's award for the cheek of them trying to engineer a win !

More like a Citroen BX1/9 (the bastard love child of an X1/9 and a BX).

The Top Gear Book of Crap Cars states that if you press the 4WD button on the top of the gearlever, the wipers automatically come on.

Runner up prize in the 'how not to obfuscate your number plate' competition:

R Class Merc with issues £1200 on FaceBook
Dropped seller a line - it needs a MoT,  their local garage has scanned it for an EML on and reckons it needs glowplugs, windscreen cracked and it has a MB recall to check something or other. Front bumper giffered.
The 'hidden' number is WD08CWP
Images shows it to be the R280 - killer for me is the £675 per annum car tax

The recall is to check corrosion on the brake booster, if it fails they will buy the car from you if it passes you get an M + S voucher

Interesting - wonder if I could rust it up a bit and then see if they'll buy it for more than the seller wants?
Only kidding - wife would kill me if I rolled up with one of those sans MoT.
I think that car and it's ilk will just get priced out to the scrapyard pretty soon?

I suspect that is true, although many put them on sale at £4,000 plus.....

Yeah I run a GL and the tax is on the high side but most big engined 4x4s after 2005 are high tax

I see it as small potatoes for a car that does everything I need it to, is easy to work on and has been quite reliable.
