Had to do a double-take here, as I could swear this was listed before for twice the current BIN

But no, it's a totally different blue, low-mileage Strada automatic.

The other one is here

TBH the cheaper one looks much better, but what cruel world do we live in where the only two Stradi in the country (hyperbole) are both automatics??

The most surprising thing about this for me is that there appear to be two Mk1 Stradas within 15 miles of me - that blue one up above and the maroon one I saw in Wroxham a couple of weeks ago.

Yea, was drooling over the pics and saw door shuts were blue - the penny dropped with a clang!

I think this 'box is the same VAG-matic that was crap in my Audi 80 and really good in my Maestro.

But I don't care because both Stradas are bloody 4 doors!

I had a B2 Passat with that 'box - I thought it was quite decent as early '80s automatics went.

That one is in bad enough condition that it'd probably be ripe for some highly inappropriate modifications, perhaps an electric conversion and a hot rod paint job.

I adore Mayflowers, they were on the shopping list before getting the Lanchester.  I'm sure they're terrible, I've never driven one.

20 years ago you couldn't sell them - have they a value now?

Values were a bit odd on them when we were looking.  There were a few hovering around the £1000 mark that needed a lot of structural and mechanical work, often with difficult to find bits of trim missing.  There were a few that were complete and scruffy with prices from £2000-8000.  Most seemed to be cherished and shiny, prices from £3000-20,000.  Felt like nobody really knew what value to put on them and opinions differed wildly.  They don't have the best parts support and are really very rust prone with almost zero panel availability so they're a difficult one to sort out it seems.  Definitely a case of buying the best example you can afford unless you're happy to go down the modifying route.  They also don't seem to sit around for sale for very long, regardless of price, and quite often cars would be removed from sale because the seller changed their mind.  It really makes me wonder what we were missing out on, they clearly have something about them that makes people get attached to them so I guess they can't be all bad.

EDIT:  this is about Mayflowers, not that rather lovely Skoda.

That has the most penis shaped gear lever I have ever seen.

I don't know what penises you've been looking at recently, but mine doesn't look anything like that gear lever.

Forum wasn't an edition as such, it was the base model.  Like Popular on Fords.  Next one up was in fact Forum Plus if memory serves.

Not to be confused with Forman, which is what they called the estate version in Czechoslovakia.

I went to school with a Nicholas Forman. No idea what they called him in Czechoslovakia
