What would you do? I need another functional car to be backup for the 172.

2 most logical options are

1. My Seat Toledo - needs a front spring, clutch and a timing belt

2. The Burd's 172 - unknown gearbox oil leak, handbrake cables and tyres needed.

Both are likely to cost the same, and have similar levels of "ohfuckery"

What one should I do?

Neither are currently mot'd

There is no option for buy a car! I am very confused.

Using a 172 as a backup for a 172 sounds brilliant

2 negatives make a positive, right?!

WTF is a DEPHASER and do I have one fitted onto my scenic 1600 16v auto 2002 vintage?????

Or a cam sensor code that isn’t a faulty sensor but actually the cam timing out . A prime example of a fault code not being a diagnosis

Nope it’s the unit on the end of the camshaft(s) that uses oil pressure to vary cam timing .

Isn't it a modern name for a harmonic balancer?

I don’t think so, it actually affects timing doesn’t it?

Edit - beat to it by someone that actually knows what he’s on about and isn’t just guessing like me :D

I've got a feeling the 1.6 didn't but only from old goona threads. I don't think you feel it as it's a gradual thing.

Scenic/Megane II does - had a fucked one for a bit. Difficult to start.

With this new instant cherished transfer online system, does your old number plate drop off the face of the earth instantly?

Going to swap the van onto a private plate but it’s parked on the street and knowing my luck it’ll be clamped by the time I walk to it with the new plates :D

It seems both plates have fucked off from the system when I’ve done this today, so that’s.... nice

What became of the ex danthecapriman ex breadvan ex junkman Granada, is it still alive\in AS hands?

I've acquired a LHD Tipo somehow. It's going to be a parts car more than likely.

It is UK registered and has valid MOT, but I've noticed a lot of temporary insurance companies hate imports.

Anyone know any provider who doesn't care? Or am I best off getting it transported?

Isn't that the one in Skizzers hands now? If so I believe it was waiting at BV towers for his mobile mechanic to fix a HGF.

It's Skizzers motor now. As far as I know it had a bad turn with waterpump failure on the way to BV towers and over heated.

I think it's just waiting its turn for some fettling. But it is safe!

3m double sided foam adhesive body tape, along with making sure both surfaces are absolutely clean with a decent

Reckon this would work on a door mirror?

Daughter's Golf has loosened a mirror glass but she got it before it fell out, amazingly as they normally drive them till the bits drop off...

Anyhoo - its a heated mirror so just being a bit circumspect about the nature of the gollop used to re-stick it.

Any other suggestions, apart from my own solution of Gorilla tape....

Peugeot 206 estate(ok, 'SW') question: were these made in Ryton or imported from France?

Sorry if this has been done before but, I was told last night the the mot test is about to get a whole lot tougher, particularly for diesels.

Could one of our mot tester members put some meat on the bones, please?

Wot they said - it’s now 100% owned by me but currently stored chez Breadvan, late of this parish. BV’s (good) mobile mechanic has done some work on it but has moved house to 40 miles away so progress is a bit intermittent. I’m meeting up with BV this week or next to make a plan; at some point in the next few weeks I’ll either drive or trailer it back to mine.

Once running again it’ll get some restoration work done, mainly to preserve it. It’s basically very solid but there are a few rust spots and a lorra lorra lacquer peel.

Have a photo from when it was previously at mine.

By now I'd be surprised if it's still got any lacquer left on it! The rate it was peeling off the roof even back when I had it. It was like the car had a major dandruff problem!

Keep us posted how you get on, it'll be great to see it come back to life and into use again. It's a bloody great car!

Doing my weekly* tyre pressure checks earlier. One of the tyres would show me the pressure, would release pressure but not take any air to increase the pressure. Crap valve so back to the tyre shop?

Crap pump adaptor not pressing valve stem? Make sure you push it right on.

Does pump work on another tyre valve.

If works on another wheel then yes, new valve maybe.

Thanks - yes it pumped up all the other tyres on the fleet. Sigh, off to the tyre centre first thing then.
