Really silly question. What if you jacked the car up?

Would that reduce the pressure in the spheres?

If the (Hydragas) suspended car is on jacks, ie no weight on the wheels, suspension drooped, then yes, the gas pressure is less in the suspension units.

 

If you mean by "jacked up" that the ride height is increased by increasing the amount of Hydragas Liquid in the suspension then the answer is no, the gas pressure in the suspension units would not change: the same amount of compressed gas is carrying the same weight of car.

I find my two stroke scooter gets to a higher speed by doing exactly the same-doesn't work on my 4 stroke twist 'n go scooter though. I find it works on the straights too-I only have to ease off the throttle a bit, and then reapply, rather than shut it right off. Mine isn't that loud, but then I'm not 16 years old still.

Is there anyway to fix a kink in a cable? I've got a kink in my rovers choke cable and it'll not go down the liner? As the choke handle is crimped on it's 50 quid for a new one.

He could be running in a new piston kit. Many schools of thought on the best way to do that, but holding the throttle wide open under load would be a definite no no.

I have the same issue, the 940's rear windows are very stiff and slow and make some awful noises, I'm guessing a little grease on the runners and pivots on the mechanism would sort it.

rub some brake assembly grease on the inside of the rubbers, normal grease will deteriorate the rubber

No - new won't fit. do not buy.

 

You do not want to go smaller on the centre bore or the wheel simply will not fit without machining out the centre of the wheel, which isn't advisable.

We still hear them going around ChiangMai doing that on-off thing too, I've always thought it was because they thought it made their scooter sound like a mega-super-duper-bike with eleventeen different gears (see Fast'n'Furious gearbox).

With centre bore  you can go bigger and get spigot rings to seat the wheel properly.

 

Lower offset means wheel will stick further out, so may hit the arches when going over bumps.

Higher offset means the wheel will be further in, so may foul brakes or steering components. Wheel spacers can be fitted to counteract this, although some people don't like the use of them as they fit between the wheel and hub. I like hub-centric spacers, but these are not cheap.

 

You can often get away with 10mm or so offset difference without issue, but try and find people who've fitted similar wheels before.

Higher offset means the hub is further out from the centreline of the wheel, which has the effect (since the hub is in the same place) of pushing the rim further in towards the inner arch.

 

So, your wheels will sit 7mm closer to your arch/suspension.

 

http://www.willtheyfit.com is a good site to go through different combinations, since you're only looking at wheel position there, not including wheel width or tyre size.

 Ah, the joy of living in France. I'm going over on the motorbike for a few days to stay at a mates place there. All you can hear are the screaming engines of mercilessly thrashed two strokes for hours on end. At least my one is quiet!

Silicone grease, help lubricate the runners and makes the seals swell stopping wind noise, good for door and sunroof seals as well.

 

Cheap plumbers silicone grease should do, I smear it on sparingly with my fingers while wearing nitrile gloves if you put too much on it leaves smears.

 

You can also be easily lead idiot and buy Shin-Ematzu grease for £35 for a 100g tube for roof seals on an S2000, only to find its the same as the stuff I could swipe from work for bugger all.

I bought a bottle of "gummi pflege" from ebay for £5.95 as all the door and boot rubbers on my Mercedes were hard and flat. a couple of applications of this stuff, and all rubbers now supple and leak and wind proof. Lovely quiet drive now.

Just been watching Wheeler Dealers. Ed was removing a suspension bush and said "I'll use an old trick, using an oversize socket, some washers and a nut I can remove the bush with a ratchet" which he then did, but I couldn't follow what he had done.

He then boshed the new bush in, using a similar setup, but again I didn't follow...

 

Can someone explain what he would have been doing?

He used a nut and bolt as a press and forced the bush out with the socket, usually into a bigger socket.
