garethj Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 The Mx5 is also currently available , I will try and get some pictures in daylight tomorrow. 1993 Mk1 get you home mot and tax , £300 to a shiter , mot out at end of month , Stick a few photos up in the main bit of the forum with your location. Even pictures in the rain will be fine and you can try to get your umbrella partly n the shot so it looks like a massive pterodactyl is about to swoop down and pick it up as a tasty treat for its cawing young DSdriver and AMC Rebel 2
garethj Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Anyone know anything about hydrogen powered vehicles? My youngest is doing a project on the feasibility of them and is struggling to find decent information about them. She has met with a couple of professors about the fuel cells but is having trouble finding anything vehicle related. Any pointers to anything suitable would be much appreciated. Riversimple are based in the UK (well, Wales) and as well as making the cool looking car using a hydrogen system from a forklift truck they're doing a new car ownership model so they always own the car and you just lease it for the miles. Quite amazing really as it encourages the manufacturer to build a car that lasts a long time rather than 15 minutes longer than the warranty. They're testing a fleet of prototypes now and have always got info about the hydrogen infrastructure as well as the cars up on their LinkedIn page. Tickman 1
D Spares & Tyres Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 I'm replacing the engine on a 2004 Peugeot Partner van. Im ditching the hateful.DW8 and putting a 1.9XUD in it. On the exhaust manifold there is this pointless looking thing bolted on. What is the point of it? I've seen it on quite a few cars but never really questioned it

willswitchengage Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Why is petrol suddenly 10p cheaper than diesel? I hardly ever fill up so this might have been the case for a while but I noticed today and was very puzzled.
Guest Hooli Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 To reward me for buying a Jaaaaaaaaaaag dozeydustman, AMC Rebel, chodweaver and 4 others 7
Tamworthbay Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Petrol has been cheaper than diesel around here for several years.
Shirley Knott Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Petrol's been cheaper than diesel for many years now, there seems to be proper big gap now though and it's come about in the last month or so. Derv is nearly 12p a liter more expensive round here at the minute!
Guest Hooli Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 EFACorrect. Edited for the correct level of caddishness I paid just* £118.7 a litre at the weekend, I can't recall when it last that cheap.

I've seen it on quite a few cars but never really questioned it It's some kind of resonator. The one on my 305 had a hole in it so I fitted a flat plate in its place, with no apparent ill effects. Richard Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 I don't think particles had been invented when they started fitting these. Dave_Q, shedenvy and anonymous user 3

Eddie Honda Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Why is petrol suddenly 10p cheaper than diesel? Because winter. Taxation is different here in RoI and diesel is cheaper. There was a point in the last few of years when it was nearly the same price as pez. Something to do with heating oil demand. In summer, diesel might be 10-14 eurocent cheaper than petrol. At the moment, it is only 6 eurocent cheaper. So I guess in the UK diesel will be fooking expensive in winter and not so fooking expensive in summer compare to petril.
Kiltox Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Correct. Edited for the correct level of caddishness I paid just* £118.7 a litre at the weekend, I can't recall when it last that cheap.Seems to have dropped significantly in a couple of weeks which is fantastic news for idiots with cars that do 20* MPG loserone and Angrydicky 2
Angrydicky Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 GR8 news indeed. An added incentive to get the Royale back on the road!

D Spares & Tyres Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I was told it was a particle trapIf that is true then I reckon it must be pretty full by now!!
castros_bro Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I thought they carbon particle traps and on the exhaust manifold to get very hot after a while of engine running so the soot produces on startup etc. gets trapped then burns off in the unused oxygen in the exhaust gas. D Spares & Tyres 1
shedenvy Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 You need about 590 deg C or more to burn soot, I doubt a NA 1.9D would get that hot there ever. Resonator sounds plausible. D Spares & Tyres 1
John F Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Has there ever been a car where the rear quarter panel & lights hinge out of the way e.g. to the sides to give better access to the boot? I can't think of one offhand.
Dippy Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Not sure where to post this but im looking for somebody who can edit or photoshop a photo for me, its a friends car that I have finished restoring this year and I have a photo of it in the sun but want it made into a wintery snowy scene.I have seen this can be done on youtube but dont have the software or computer skills needed. Beer tokens will be available for anybody who can help with this.
Bren Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Anybody recommend a decent 3 legged puller? Don't need top quality one but on the other hand don't want something that after its first outing looks like Uri Geller had used it. John F 1

They're not the cheapest, but they're good. xtriple 1
