Ford Fiesta something 1998

1998 Fiesta (honestly can’t remember engine size, probs 1.3)

Failed MOT on one weld (sill, right by rear suspension arm thing) and brakes being unbalanced.

Mileage is genuine, MOT history throws up a rogue mileage count one year, really don’t know why.

Was told it’s not long since had a new clutch.

3 keys and handbooks with it.

Drives fantastically on a short, private road.

N/s/f wing has been badly ‘giffer fixed’ and this s is an old Ford, so don’t expect a new car.

That said it’s very genuine and will I believe so someone a very good turn, it’s is NOT being sold to someone who will scrap it, as much as I can help it anyhow.

I'm not interested Billy, just thought I'd confirm DVLA says it's a 1.3 Fiesta Finesse.

A days DIY and less than £100 would see that back on the road. Then you've a car with full test for £250.

Partner had an N Reg one of these as her first car, before she even had a licence.  I had to test drive it.  Drove very nicely.

Ended up with Flintstone Floor, so it had to go.  £150 is very good.

GLWTS!

I'll second that, the one we had was a good laugh. The one I had, the floor and the bulkhead rotted out to the point water was coming IN to the car if you drove in wet weather.

Engine is chain driven, mot history good, mega low mileage, wing doesn't look that bad from your photo.

Having owned one of these from new, now on about 98000 miles with no major issues, that looks a good buy for someone who can weld.

S F Question re the speedometer.

Is it cheaper to make a gauge like that, which swings through just 180 degrees - assuming you can ever get 125 mph out of a Fiesta - than a traditional one that swings through 270? That is something that upsets me a bit, it's only 90 degrees to 70. I bet it hardly moves when pottering about town.

That dash is miserable. Were Ford the last manufacturer who didn't expect their cars to get beyond 100,000?

Snap!

Still looks a good car and they do drive nice. Mrs Shrimp had one years ago, horrible green colour. Yeah I know, helpful.

1.25 for extra pedantry.

They came with a hateful 1.3 iron blocked monstrosity as well - same one as in the Ka.

Money to be made here - I got £450 for the red 1.25 with an oil habit that I got on here for £80.

8 valve pushrod then not the far superior 1.25 lump. But yeah no belt to worry about, motor will outlast the rest of it.

I learned to drive in one of these. Sorry but I thought my mum's 1986 Pug 309 was superior in every way (except upholstery).

If there's a single car left in the entire world that's worse than a Peugeot 309, it should be set alight and pushed off a cliff.

Nah, HCS was the full-fat 1.3 pushrod lump off of the Mk2 Cortina.

Did they fit six figure odos to their European market cars because 100,000KM is only about 60,000 miles?
