New MOT on the C5.  Would have just gone through but apparently VOSA have been paying random visits to local MOT stations and they are being very nitpicky so new droplinks as the rubbers were a bit shabby and an advisory on "Lightly corroded brake pipe rear o/s"

Droplinks were three years old so have done pretty well anyway.

Payment machine in our office not working.

Mouthy bint in office gets onto helpline.............on hold for long time and giving them some proper shit. She got passed about a bit and it got funny as she has no patience.

After an hour of this and her getting more arsey with the person trying to help her she notices it the machine was not plugged into the wall.

Made I laugh out loud.........

Squeaky wheel gets the grease...

I put a horrific 1 star review of Unicom's service on trustpilot - it's a couple down the page, between "worst telecommunications company I have ever come across" and "over an hour on the phone".

I got a call just now from a senior manager who has cancelled the remainder of my contract, and allowed me to use the PAC code to port my number to EE.

I'm not removing the review though.

OK i finally got my arse in gear and got Dirty Harry the Scimitar mot'd and on the road for the first time in my ownership.

He drives far better than i ever dare expect and the old essex v6 burble sounds very nice, but the biggest grin was going online and getting his free road tax.

Phwoooar. So that's what a nice one looks like...

Took my Elan for mot this morning. Passed, but rear brakes are pretty crappy. Tester said they always are on these, such low weight over the rear. Nasty glazing on the brakes since it hadn't been driven for a fair few months, but they cleaned up after the test.

It's done about 300 miles since the cambelt was changed, but that change occurred in 2007... So by time it's probably overdue replacement. Following the midget in the eBay thread, the car has cost £1.20 per mile just in mot test charges over the last eight years!

Having a ride in FPB7's old Rover P4 from Brum to Bewdley and back as well as cups of tea and a good chat with him, Lord Stirling and Red5.

A lovely afternoon.

This.

And this....

Just seen an MG TF. Not that unusual you may think, but it was a '60' reg!

Did they really make any that young?

Nanjing made a few hundred or so after MG Rover's bankruptcy, not sure when they stopped but they weren't fast sellers so will have been hanging around a while.

There wasn't many changes between the NAC and MGR ones, just a slightly different front bumper and some new dash clocks really.

I saw a set of wheels on the gumtree that I fancied the look of, seller wanted £50, I offered £30, we agreed by email on £40, I stuck his number in my mobile to arrange pick up and it turns out not only have I know him for several years from the world of mx5s and work three doors away from his office, he's a member on here too !

'Tis a small world Mr Tartan58, see you tomorrow afternoon :)

what makes this thoroughly Autoshite is that the wheels are off a car that neither of us own :)

On that slum landlords/nightmare tenants thing tonight, some knobhead landlord was giving it the big one and told a lady to 'go back to Africa.'  Unluckily for this tosspot, he was overheard by a bloke who took exception to this and squared up to him. He wasn't so f*cking cocky after that!

Won argument over turbo on eBay so that they wont deduct the cost of shipping it to me. Restocking fee has been waived as well ( good job as both are illegal and not allowed under eBay rules)

Wasn't trying to be unreasonable but they are complaining they won't make profit - not quite sure that is my issue. Not a small supplier either.

Same here, just changed the oil & filters on the C5 this morning, never spilled a drop.

Need a new washing up bowl now.

Heard a bloke as I drove past "Frontera, I used to have one if them" first time I've noticed anyone noticing it.

It's 21 years old but doesn't seem old, if that makes sense

Sounds like an ideal spot for an AS spanners mini meet !

Book a ramp for a day, then have a few peeps turn up and help each other with jobs....

Sure there is a place near Wembley who did this. Great idea tbh.

All Vauxhall are shit.

Following a 15 plate mokka on motorway earlier. I could smell burning but assumed it was the civic rewarding me for its new ticket. Pulled off at next junction same time as mokka and noticed smoke pouring out of it.

Flagged the lady down and pointed out her brakes were locked on hence smoking! She had just collected it as a courtesy car.

Left her on the phone to the garage, with smug smile

Edit: used the on in Wembley. Was really good except you we always aware of the time and the 900 I was working on had every bolt seized.

Grin or grump?

Chester (fat basset type mutt) is a very gregarious fellow and does love to say 'Hello' to all and sundry especially if in possession of four legs. Today, he spies a largish mutt coming down the green on a lead with a lady owner. Now, he is well trained that if there is a dog with a lady owner, he MUST introduce himself so I get the opportunity to come over and chat...

So off he trots and before I know it, there's ruck occurring. I gallop over as fast as my crippled body will allow and this woman (fat horrid munter) is going full on mental at Chester. I grab him and she goes off on one at me about he should be on a lead etc seeing as he's aggressive...  Just at that moment (and here's the grin part) two chaps who had been enjoying a kiss and cuddle on the green pipe up and absolve Chester of all wrong doing as, apparently, he was just saying hello when the other dog went for him!

The (fat horrid munter) woman harrumphs and splutters some more at me and storms off.

I then had a most convivial chat with the two lads and Chester shared their nosh so he was happy once more.

I've just found out about this company which has started up recently, about a mile from my new abode:

http://tarka-ramps.weebly.com/

Fantastic, I might become a regular customer!

£20 per night if you get your car apart to find eurocarparts have sold you a gear knob rather than a press fit lower balljoint and you can't drive it

£2 to get rid of a gallon of oil is odd, I sell my waste oil for 20p a litre
