After something of a sabbatical, I'm back on Autoshite

Ironically, for the first time in ages, my only car's a modern (Alfa 159 Sportwagon, so still has credentials...).

Excellent. You haven't been hiding in a cupboard with Boobydoo have you? We've lost him too.

My wallet that I lost on the way to get the Xantia has been handed in to Glasgow police station. Best thing is the cash is still in it so I am now 21 quid better off. :-)

wb Cheggers and that is unusual The Moog, normally that £21 would be claimed as a personal 'finders fee'.

Catching up on previous weeks episodes of The Young Montalbano on BBC4 last night and as well as an extremely fit brunette bird there was a Fiat 128 being used as a taxi, Alfa Giuliettas and Fiat Cromas being used as Police cars and a Fiat 130 coupe and an Alfasud Sprint in a car park.

I may have made a slight squealing noise...

I also love the fact that Inspector Montalbano has been driving a Fiat Tipo diesel for the past 20 plus years 8)

Just got back from the garage, where the 'hairdresser special' was pronounced roadworthy* for yet another year !

What made me grin even more was the drive to there and back, which allowed me to road test the new* (= used and shonky-looking) coilovers. I was expecting all my fillings to fall out and my back to require the services of a chiropractor, but I was completely wrong. It is lower and firmer, of course, but not harsher than with the OEM suspension. Great stuff !

I plugged the boring in to the diagnostic whilst at the garage today to see if there were any faults logged.

There was an intermittent fault for the EGR valve showing. I found this quite humourous, as it's in a box at home

Today, at the scrapyard.

"Yeah, I mostly need this stuff for my Princess"

"So what do you normally drive then?"

"My Princess."

"You're brave."

Metal fans: Got 'Philip H Anselmo and The Illegal's' album 'Walk Through Exits Only'. I don't listen to much 'mainstream' metal anymore, as most of it is awful, and I never really liked Pantera too much and have listened to Down, etc  but never really gelled with it, but this is pretty awesome, if you like straight ahead metal/hardcore. Mr Anselmo is on form and definitely the best thing he's done since TGSTK.  :)

We're moving stuff about at work and they are being well ruthless with throwing stuff out, anyway they know I'm a bit of a bin sniffing gyppo type so today I came home with what would have been probably thousands of pounds worth of random electronic components and wire etc , all new, unused but all mixed up and not worth spending "paid time" to sort and find a place for. Not worth selling but deffo worth having about the place when I'm pissing about with making electronic stuff. All the wire is new and on unused reels, but not ROHS compliant so we're not allowed to use it.

Plus I got a great big flippin LED destination sign off the front of a bus that I'm going to try and program to say rude words.

I was going to make a grump post then I found the ignore-user function and turned it into a grin.

BRIAN the robot hooked me the fuck up after Swift Cover wanted me to take out a mortgage to pay for their insurance quote.

That's where three(?) years of being a loyal, perfect customer will get you.

I might be moving and need a more sensible car that returns a better MPG. I have just been looking at cars that might float my boat and actually found myself clicking on this and reading the description. Suddenly it started looking very familiar.

It's BACK! No mention of the 20p, but it seems to have broken the handbrake as now it needs a whole new cable!

A stranger on the internet suggested using biological Persil to clean old oil stains off a driveway.

It worked so well! I'm just awed by how well it worked (expectations were low). A decade of drippings in one spot, two catastrophic oil spills in another and a long trail of splodges from a recent accidental conversion to total loss lubrication - all much reduced.
