the 4.6 V8 (Yes, they did put them in Rover 75s, not just oMGs)

This has made me think dirty, evil thoughts. Mrs_Duke has voiced her approval of 75s on at least 3 separate occasions.

Any idea how many they actually turned out? Frankly I'd be surprised if they sold well, can't imagine the 75's target market going mad over it?

I remember going down the Mulsanne straight in 1990 in a Rover SD1 2.6 Vandenplas with an Elddis Cyclone behind. Livin the dream

This made me grin.

-We want you to wear bacofoil space suits. Is that OK :?:

-Well...As long as they're flared and don't mess with the cuban heels....

Apparently Ant's broken his back but it's not a dangerous break.... so he's ok and is going to stay in hospital to be checked over. It is grin worthy that race drivers car go through those kind of crashes and be alive on the other side.

As for LeMans It's a shame all the Toyotas are gone but they've done pretty well for a team that's rushed it's entry into the sport a year early! It's also a shame that the Deltawing is out as well but it wasn't for lack of effort.

It's my first year to make an effort to get into LeMans, and it's ace. It's just a shame that more people haven't found out about it - the five mins before the Davidson crash had some of the best racing I've ever seen.

Not many apparently, I think the figure for V8s was around 900 or less, but that was for both the 75s and the oMG ZT. The 75 V8 is quite a difficult and expensive car to get a hold of, certainly alot harder/expensive than finding ZT V8 as I understand it. Not really sure why to be honest.

There were also a couple of stretched Rover 75 V8 Vanden Plases too.

A trailer for Seth MacFarlane's new film, about a sweary Teddy bear. Appears to be poor taste, swearing, arse jokes. All the best.

The Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show on Absolute Radio... I may need to start listening again.

This is a grin for now, but may end up a grump...

No longer feel so guilty about having yellow headlights as motorway night driving is now a sea of blue.

Saw the LOL Tiffin Allegro earlier, latest spots should be coming up soon if I can get this stupid iPad I'm borrowing to work properly...

Plenty of Top Gear fans commenting on FB about that Allegro then.

Wow, last time I heard him was on XFM back in zerosomethingorother.... gr8 4 the 90-minute commute I was doing at the time. Possibly the only morning DJ that I didn't want to kill violently. Him and Wogan, obv.

Had wander in the countryside after a tasty pub lunch and stumbled upon these two lovelies. It's been some time since I last went past this place, but whoever lives there is obviously a bit of a Saab fan because I distinctly remember a couple of old 96s outside several years ago. No sign of them today but I assume the S reg 9-5 out front was the owner's daily.

Judging by the small Ferrari badge on the back, I'm guessing the Thema is an 8.32.

Doing a second oil change on your car, which means the filter comes off by hand and the sump nut puts up as much resistance as an Ethiopian at a free buffet

Probably of zero interest to most of you, but the idea of a Mk2 Escort with Impreza turbo running gear is one I find most appealing.

Just a shame it's pretty much guaranteed to end up dressed as a rally car. That'd be a nice thing if it was made to look like a stock RS Mexico or summat.

Text message my other half sent me the other day from a show she was exhibiting at with her work:

"there is a line of men polishing their Vauxhalls, then standing back and admiring them. I suppose they must be special Vauxhalls".

Made me larf enough; then the next day she revealed that it had been the Vectra Owners Club

Ah yes, the Vectra club. I went to a Vauxhall show a while back opposite the factory in Ellesmere Port and they had quite a few members of their club there. Star of the show seemed to be an absolutely mind defyingly horrific Vectra B with a really nasty bodykit and dragon stickers and seat covers that looked like they were made from some pyjamas from Rhyl Market. It also had about 11 tonnes of stupid fucking stereo equipment in the boot and the owner must have been pushing late 50s easily. Best of all people were crowding round it as if it were some sort of carbon fibre bodied one off Ferrari.

Pete I'd love to see a Subaru engined Escort, it must be an immense laugh to drive. Any further updates on your's or have you (sadly) completely given up on it now?

Apparently there is already a Citroen DS3 club. Presumably a support group for people who wonder why they've spent so much money on a hideously ugly, over-priced family hatchback with zero visibility and those dreadful bling lights that blind everyone.

No contact since my Czech mechanic decided Czech days are 1/4 of the length of British ones, and that his labour rate is about double what was agreed.

It is looking like it'll be given up on as things stand.

That's a real pisser, remember discussing this at Cholmondeley now. Take it any plans to repatriate the car are still up the Swanney?

The Olimpik torch relay has just come through Wetherby, and despite being a cynical bitter bastard I ventured out for a gander, especially as Alan Hinkes was going to be carrying it. The TSB's promo vehicle was tip-top, but the LEZ may a probem unless it's petrol :

Then there's Alan himself, waiting on the flame(I didn't get any decent stills of him carrying it when lit**):

I had this one taken of myself, thankfully by someone I know/knows my sense of humour:

**I didn't get any decent video of it either... :x

Ah yes. I heard from a bus-loving friend that they'd got an ex-Malta bus that had been 'butchered' by Lloyds TSB. Arseholes. Ripping off the public for billions of pounds is one thing, but then they meddled with a bus!

That's the last straw, no more bail outs! Who's Alan Hinkes? This should really be in the grump thread but Olympics - BUGGER OFF! London is a piss place to live at the best of times, but my Olympics fatigue has reached new heights. Our local news coverage has been going on about it every fuggin' day for the last 7 years....
