Wouldn't want him adjusting my mileometer if that's how he does it.  Do any lease vehicles have old style mileometers anymore ? Does he do a sideline in VIN plates for mk1 escorts and ancient Minis

Thank the Lord for Google searches.

Just casually inputting reg numbers of old cars I used to own. I punched in previous reg’s of my old Porsche 944.

It turns out it was the cover car for the Porsche Post magazine back in 1984!

That’s the original reg. It’s also probably on owner number one at this point, a chap living in Wheathampsted near St. Albans.

Actually, if anybody has a copy of that particular magazine I’d be happy to purchase it.

Spotted that our local Milk and More delivery van is a newish Maxus yesterday. Bet the delivery drivers are thrilled at their Fleet Manager's choice there! Saw a 20 plate one last week too. Considering they must have only been selling by a trickle since they came back in to the UK market in, 2016(?) I'm mildly surprised that they're still persevering.

Joined the cool kids today. Installed Spotify and did some fancy Bluetooth streaming in the 86. Just found a random playlist and pressed fire. Mostly Maiden and Megadeth.

I'm sure I could have just found the relevant CDs but there we go...

Still faffing with it whilst having a beer, for some reason we're on a Scandinavian black metal odyssey...

5 years and 11 months to the day I bought it and the Capri has passed its MoT. Hundreds of hours of welding and mechanical work but thankfully not much cash and I now have a Capri on the road for the first time in 30 years.

They have missed a trick, should have had it sponsored by that chap who was pushing used car warranties, motoring journalist/presenter fellow. Looked a bit like Dracula, can't remember his name at the moment, but sure he used to be known for mileage correction.

Quentin Wilson? Didn’t he also front up one of those fuel catalyst bag things?

The lead pellets in a bag that you drop in your tank?  Yes, I think he did.  As well as various other snake oil type products.

Having your car detailed so the paint has a mirror finish ,maybe not such a good idea

They still advertise those in Craptical Classics and Crassic Car Weekly, come to think of it.

Seriously?

These fuckwits need to learn some chemistry; metallic lead isn't soluble in petrol, it has to be processed into tetraethyl lead before being added.

They're on about these snake oil devices; Broquet is probably the most famous one but there are rip-offs available for less money. Total bollocks.

Did a proper line-up of the cars tonight.

They're all parked with their front wheels on the same line in the concrete. The Renault is tiny.

Modern cars are just the automotive equivalent of skinny people in puffer jackets.

Ha, I'm 40 and there's plenty of shit I have absolutely no idea on.

My Mrs' Uncle has been using Spotify for years which just proves how far behind I am.

Even my Dad who is 66 suggested I try it last year at some point.

Some tend to be, yes. There's a good amount of room in the Jeep- my parents commented on that when they were here last. The Challenger is, for the type of car it is, fairly spacious. The Renault is typically French and has plenty of room everywhere but little useful storage and the Pontiac is, for the age of it massive inside. The rear passengers have more legroom than the front.

I think the rear passenger legroom thing needs to become a design feature again because if you've bought a car with 4 doors, there is definitely intent for the rear of the car to see use.

That reminds me of last week, I was following a pickup with pallets stacked on the back (fortunately not too closely) just as I was thinking, those don't look like they're tied on, one fell off the back and luckily bounced in towards the verge, so it missed me and I missed it.

Glad someone is enjoying the heat, I've been sick as a sick thing the last two days due to it! I really don't thrive in hot weather, I think I may secretly be some sort of penguin.

Anywho, things that make me grin... I'll be taking the MX5 for a hoon this evening when the temperature has fallen to a point where my calves won't be fried like bacon in a pan upon contact with the leather seats, and that's always a good time!

I don't know if it's this heat (which I am not enjoying) or what, but the Lanchester has made the garage smell AMAZING.

Old fuel, old oily dirt, old tyres, old leather and stuffing, old grease... That's the way a garage should smell. Mine has that aroma on warm days too.

It is good.
