What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Didn't win an eBay auction. Why the grin ? Because the seller and I agreed when I viewed the car yesterday that if they get dicked around (again, 3rd time listed) they'll phone me and we'll do a private sale. Winner of auction ? Zero/minimal feedback.....

I await the call from the seller with much anticipation

Why it pays to be a nice reasonable human being.

Seller rings me today and asked was I still interested following my viewing ? Hell yeah, said I, anticipating she was going to tell me the seller had stuffed her. Anyroad, turns out there was a 'family conference' and the family decided that they wanted me to have it, no matter what, given my love of old chod. It is a one former ex-giffer (now sadly deceased) owner car with low mileage.

She's cancelled the sale, and offered it to me for a price lower than the final bid (and just slightly north of what I bid). Told me she'd keep it to allow me to shuffle tthe Snoozer out of the fleet (she was amazed when I said I was delivering it halfway to somewhere, just didn't know where yet as roffle)

TL:DR £230 for a car on my bucket list, iz excite.

What is it? Since you've had a PT Cruiser it could be anything...

There'll be a lengthy, unnecessarily over-complicated collection thread when it happens.

Not gonna jinx it til a collection date is fixed. Shiter's curse and all that jizz.

I saw that bleary-eyed on my newsfeed this morning and had to spend half an hour fact-checking it because I couldn't believe we've actually run out of less stupid names for a car. But no, it's true.

Also the video introduces it as the "Morris Garages Hector" just for even more awkward Britishness.

Right. The reason I came here.

Just seen a T plate Avensis minicabing in Derby, amazed they allow 20 year old cars to be plated, looked really tidy though..

If it keeps passing the inspections, why not? I wonder if there are any classic cars / oul shite in use as taxis / minicabs outside of that London?

Brother in law was a taxi owner in Hull and there was a 5-year age limit on them.

When I was a taxi driver back in nineteen-canteen, it was 9 for plating and 15 overall in one council area. The adjacent was no limit.

YMMV (as in the case of that IoW Audi)

I've just watched my first five minutes of 'Modern Family'.

That's not the grin (obviously).

There's no canned laughter (or allegedly live studio audience). In their absence, I am unable to identify which lines the Americans consider humorous.
