Looks like he might be that "two-bucket wrong-un" off of that polishing forum.

Fuck you... I'm going to dedicate my xantia detailing thread (if I ever get one done) to you you bastard

How is that even in the news? I'd say all the Audi Q7's parked in the disabled spaces is worse than some guy trying to protect his car in the car park.

Also "the 23 year old shop assistants Astra VXR". WTF I was driving a £100 Volvo 360 at 23.

My oldest son is making noises about a bini as his first car. lots of time yet

I have just tried confussed for quotes. kerching £4046 the cheapest without a blackbox fitted..£4554 fitted.

Someone on here once said a seat arosa was very cheap to insure so i tried that.

£2255.00 per year without a blackbox, £2545.60 with the box..

Cheapest things I can insure are Mazda Demio, Hyundai Accent, Kia Pride and the R8 200.

If you're getting quotes of £2k+ for anything though, your lad can't have had a licence long.

It took me the best part of three years to get my first sub-£1k quote on anything at all.

My lad's 23 and has got one. I'm not WTF, I'm just jealous :(  When I was that age I think I had a 23 year old £200 Mk1 Cortina.

Ghosty, have you got a motor sorted now? Seem to recall reading on here you had something lined up but not sure if I just imagined that.

At 23 I had a 3 year old 1.8 Focus Zetec, then a brand new Mondeo TDCi on a lease thing

The Mondeo ruined me. At 24 I replaced it with the Council Estate. Not ran anything newer than 2001 since, more or less.

I don't think I even had a car at 23. I was down to a Kawasaki GT550 for work and a broken Reliant Regal.

I was obviously in the wrong job/spending all my money on heavy drinking.

Saying that I had moved out at 23.

I've been making noises about an R8 auto on C&C/Gumtree, it's still showing as untaxed on the DVLA so I'm going to make enquiries about viewing (over this weekend?) once I get back from my Deliveroo taster at about 5pm if I've got enough evidence that I'm going to get the job (it's weird, can't quite tell - today's a cycling skills assessment thing it seems).

Old Man is pissed off about it as he wants to shift the A4 first, but it's a weird car and he's going to want too much money for it, and is refusing to sell it without a fresh, clean MOT (and the earliest he can take it is the middle of next month). OM doesn't want a car any more, I refuse to travel in it as my mum insists on using the front seat and I don't fit in the back, and the mother refuses to drive manuals, so it's no good for us. Its insurance is up in March so it'll likely be going on SORN then if it's still here.

The mother really wants me to have a car though so she's told him where to stick it basically, and to go along with me. He can't be arsed going to the West Midlands for it either, but that's because anything outside Manchester is too far for him (bought A4 about 5 miles away). Again he's been told where to stick that idea.

The only other R8 auto I can find on the net at the moment is twice as much money, a bit rougher round the edges, and is in Norwich...

Now, I'd better head out - report back soon...

All is well.

Deliveroo folks showed up this time, taster session was just shadowing a guy on a delivery, it's a decent enough job. Paid fortnightly, availability on a week by week basis... online training done too. It's all looking good.

Going to look at this R8 on Sunday, it's being sold by an old couple. Given up driving I assume?

I'm excited.

Hell Ghosty I'd take you to collect it if needs be. Do it do it do it.

I have every intention to buy it, Old Man notwithstanding. He's insisting on coming to look at it (meaning getting driven there in the A4 for some daft reason - I really hope he doesn't walk based on something trivial like a slightly bubbly arch, it's a £300 car ffs), but for some reason he doesn't want to collect it same day, despite there being absolutely no reason at all not to.

Small price to pay to have a car, anyway.

I moved out when I was 22 and shortly after bought a Lotus 7, OK I was living in a partly converted stable and could barely afford to eat, I guess we all have different priorities

This morning I did have an interview and landed a promotion, albeit a temporary one.

Given that my current field of employment in no way sucks, I am well pleased :D

Despite the snow at Heathrow my flight home from Boston was only an hour late. See, America, that's how you deal with a bit of snow

People used to say it suited me as the number plate looked like YOB.

For no reason whatsoever, heres a picture of a 2cv

At 23 I had a 1275GT Mini. One of my mates had a GT6 in a horrible brown colour. The Mini was faster in a straight line and left it for dead on the twisties!

At 23 I had a '89 Orion 1.6GL and a '78 Midget 1500 and had moved out two years earlier.

At 23 I had a car, no idea which one though...

Edit: OK so it was either an '86 mk1 Micra 1000 in red and rust, an '89 Renault 5 with the world's hardest clutch or some random one as we (family) had a garage.
