Seems a cousin of mine was made an mbe today. At least someone in our family has made something of themselves!

Out in the Applause with Chompy and spotting a very clean Mk3 Cavalier, a lovely gold SD1 and a Lancia Beta Spider going the other way.  Typically camera was too slow so no pictures but the Lancia had a lovely old car smell as it went past which probably means it was running way too rich and about to implode.

We were out in the DS today when the heavens opened and I had to put the wipers into hyperdrive. The rubber started breaking away on the passenger side* so we popped into Halfrauds for some new. As we drove up a guy was just walking out the store with a new set of blades and as I walked in there was another chap at the till paying for some. "Where are they then?" I asked the cashier who new exactly what I was after, and just grinned and pointed.

I made good use of their little gazebo thing outside to fit the new one without getting too soaked - you can't get a whole DS bonnet under the shelter though.

*I usually buy one a year and put it on the drivers side, moving the year old one to the passenger side.

Seeing a slightly shonkey 2 door Toledo at the Triumph Day at the Ace Cafe today. It had steelies on that were quite wide and he (young lad) had spinners as centre caps :)

Bought a thermal label printer. I'm rather surprised, but managed to get it working on the old windows 2000 laptop I use as a print server, so now it's effectively a wireless thermal label printer. Just in case I want to send a parcel while I'm having a shit like.

I've got it 'cos for once royal mail are doing something useful. Starting 'summer 2016' you get free delivery confirmation if you use postal labels with 2D barcodes on. So no more thieving ebay bastards saying it didn't turn up m8. For even more win if you have an oba account royal mail will supply thermal labels free.

TL DR:

I'm excited about printers n post.

I found this house today which has 3 Prairies up the drive! The owner was reversing up the drive in the gold one as i went pass.

As long as he doesn't reverse too far, or he'd have a little Prairie on the house

SWMBO's Hyundai flew through the M.o.T this morning, only advisory being a worn tyre on the rear.

We have decided that a 7-seater is the way forwards, so it is now up for sale. Way too new to be Autoshite but someone who may want a large-ish MPV might find it useful?

Decided the lawnmower's exhaust was too loud. Went and bought some lengths of cast iron pipe and parts and built a resonance muffler. Stuffed the large pipe with steel wool. It's nearly silent now and still more efficient than a pipe blocked with glass fibre fluff.

Proper shite thing it is, neighbor threw it away because it didn't run. Leaves behind it a proper A-series plume of blue smoke. Cuts the grass okay too

Don't ever use Brillo pads thinking it will have the same effect as wire wool as it will start spewing molten pink soap out when up to temperature

The only way to find out is to advertise it on here!

It took me more than three hours to drive home from Yeovil in the 960 yesterday. But despite that, and even though I had nowhere in particular to go, I still had to go out for a little drive in it again this morning, just because it's so brilliant.

Went out this arvo, everywhere rammed full of people - bloody airshow part two! All I wanted to do was let the dogs have a run and all the usual places were full to overflowing. I was getting in a right grump, which is perilously easy at the moment anyway. So I drove down by the seafront which is usually rammed out and it was deserted! So took the dogs on the beach, let them swim and play and roll in the sand and let Chester be an utter twat (it was his birthday yesterday so it was a treat!) and we had a great time.

Of course, the poor little Mazda is now soaking inside and full of sand but who cares.

When I passed my test I added older relatives as named drivers to my policy to reduce the cost. Not that they knew this, or ever drove the car.

Don't some insurers get stroppy about that?

I kicked off when my ex kept me on her policy after we split to make it cheaper. It meant every time I answered the question "do you have access to any other cars" when getting quotes I was lying. I fully expect they'd have used that one discrepancy to void my policy.

Just heard FIFA May kick England out the Euros for hooliganism, so its a race to be kicked out for shite football, or Drunken tits fighting - Its neck and neck :-)

Loving the Chris Harris Ferrari test on Top Gear

Highlight of the series. By a very long way. Skipped through pretty much everything else. Still haven't bothered with episode two at all.

Slice decent cheddar, put on top.

Microwave for 1-2 minutes.

Cheesey gloop.

I was clearing my PC as we've got new IT police moving in on Monday and found one of my favourite all time for sales adverts.
