Saw a silver mondeo estate in a layby near Sleaford, nothing unusal about that but it had an orange flashing light and a new yellow bettle on the back of an A frame. A fellow shitter?

A mate of mine has just got a job full time in the workshops at the Nene Valley Railway so we popped down to see him today. While there we explored a bit and on this crusty old Swedish loco I found a new favourite nerd fitting. Made by AGA the cooker people, check out these electric lights for shining on the water gauge glass at night. Cool as!!

My wife was out in the Saab today so I spent 3 hours washing, claying and then waxing the Nissan by hand. My hands are now broken, but the Nissan now looks THE FUCKING TITS - so much so my wife both noticed, and subsequently complimented me on how good it looked on her return.

This is literally unheard of.

I'm so pleased with it, I was really skeptical about clay, asked for some from the 'bay for christmas, and got some clay lube (fnarr) from amazon with a gifted voucher so actually cost me nothing.

I can see exactly why people do this now, even just clayed it looked superb, but the wax (another freebie) gave it a really deep shine which hopefully ought to last a little while.

1/4 of the clay bar is a total write-off, but thats no bad thing. I can't recall who said it but it is very similar to blu-tack for cost-conscious shiters.

Phailed to get pics because 'tard. Will try and get some tomorrow.

I also wire woolled the worse of the rust off the base and spray painted it with a can of poundland wheel silver. Looks ok, could get the hang of this spraying lark, wonder what colour I should make it...

If so, would it not have been a lot more efficient to just put some wheels on it?

Yes, but hovercrafts are cool. I have had a few Constellations over the years, including the flatter/wider flying saucer shaped one; unfortunately I have sold all of them including the orange one;  like many things in my life it's form over function, look great but not that useful

Forgot to mention, another grin is the 4 nights I just spent in Amsterdam. A really welcoming place, with perhaps the friendliest locals I've known thus far. A nice varied spread of classics there too, with an emphasis on unusual stuff, everyone seems to to want to out weird one another with their daily transport. I also saw this:

I'll update my spotting thread in due course. Everyone should go to Amsterdam at least once, you really don't need to experience the cliches of the city to have a good time.

Mrs fp's aunt and uncle live not too far away from Amsterdam I too think it's a quality place

Never been but youngest daughter recently spent a couple of months in Rotterdam and Amsterdam and was well impressed.

Gobsmacked when she was presented with a medal by the Dutch prime minister.

The Celebrity! In the US, the celebrity has wheels (and other cool stuff).

It does have it'd flaws though, the original 550w motor stayed quite cool, the 1200w I put in gets fooking hot! Cos obv the exhaust air is blocked as it hits the carpet. Lift it up and suddenly the suction improves loads. The hose restricts it too somewhat.

It will make a cool upstairs hoover though. At some point I'll put a bead of silicone around the base skirt as loads of air is coming out of the gap. One day I'll find a way to fix the original motor, or find another motor and put it back to stock, if I get a Henry that needs a motor for ££ I'll have it back out, but for now, it can stay.

The Flying Scotsman just went past my bedroom window :) no pics, I'm afraid, as its was a bit too dark but i was close enough to see the glow of the firebox as it gently puffed by on its way to its overnight stay at Bo'ness.

I just found a pair of (genuine) Mole grips.

Well, I say 'I' but really it was Phoebe (the dog).

As I may have mentioned before, in her attempts to aid/clean the environment she picks up some rubbish from the gutter on every walk, carries it with her (usually a plastic bottle or a can of Red Bull or similar) and then drops it in the drive for me to put in the bin, she has no intention of bringing it in the flat. No idea why she does it, just has for about the past year or so.

So today, walking along and I look at her 'cos she's struggling a bit and it was these Mole grips were proving hard to carry comfortably. Of course she wouldn't give them to me but was persuaded to change when I found her an empty Coke bottle.

So I am a pair of well used Molies up. Been used for holding plates together when welding obviously, work though and a freebie is always welcome!

I passed a chap today who was lopping branches off a tree, I did a double-take at his choice of safety headgear. It was a saucepan, I've only ever seen that before in the Beano

Yes it's mine. The 25 quid one needed a lot doing to it and this was so cheap for what it is. More pics if you like!

There good vans, i wanted one but it was over my budget. Yes more pics please  :-D

If you can leave the handbrake off, they bind on easily.

Some interior pics. I think it was a bargain. Cost 270. Needs a few small jobs and I need some bits and bobs like steps and water bottles but its fine for a first tourer

Is that your caravan? Looks great.

I thought you were taking the piss and meant the Vauxhall.

The kitchen in the back end means you need to be careful with your loading to keep the noseweight correct and avoid snaking on the road.
