I bought a cable to connect an mp3 to my Smax. Popped out the dash, but no space for the eBay connector. Popped to the local car audio shop where they said that the wires would need to be removed from the connector and inserted into the existing connector.

Could not find the diagram so put it all back together. This morning found the diagram so pulled the whole thing apart. Then found that the pins were already in use, seemed strange. Couldn't wire it up so put it all back together.

Went to find the security code from the glove box, what did I find? A factory wired in aux socket. I've only owned the car for four years...

I have moved all my shit from the storage unit... well, I say 'I' but what I mean is: my mates (Hubert and Mark) moved it all while I supervised/got in the way/whinged like fuck/ and demanded that certain things be put in certain places .... mainly I wanted all my tool boxes stacking again like they used to be!

I can truly say NOT all Vauxhalls are shit! Zafira ( I think) took huge amounts of stuff and we did the whole lot on two trips! Okay, I loaded the MX5 up as well (well, what huge amounts you can get in one of those - not!) and Mark put a bit on the back seats of his posh 4X4 thing (High and dry something) but the Zafira even had a leather sofa in it with loads more piled on top/round it.

Now just got to go up and sort it all out, just placed over on the left willy-nilly for the minute. Got to move some built in shelves so I can drive the dollop straight in but otherwise, all good.

Only grump(s) are: no electric in there (some sort of cheap generator possibly?) and I hurt like the crippled old git I am. Oh, and I had to take the dogs out after. Having dodged the rain all the time we were moving, collected the mutts and it pissed down persistently from then on... glorious sunshine again now!

Not exactly Autoshite fodder so I'll not bother with a dedicated thread, but a pez station shot of a newly bought car's always cause for a grin.

6 carbs or 8 and both with blowers, and given that it rained those cheater slicks and skinny front wheels means they must have been REAL handfuls to drive

Parents have inexplicably put in an offer for a house in Aberlour, their current house in Banff has been up for sale for yonks with little interest but they've described to me as a "holiday home/fixer upper". Obviously I was all ready to say how silly it was of them to own two houses but then I saw the pictures.

Two words: Double garage.

I, for one, now entirely endorse this whole "two houses" thing as I doubt their CRV will fit in the thing and I could do with more watertight Dolohousing...

I second that endorsement :-)

Had one of those before! Mine was a 500 so I was permanently bricking it about the suspension and the brakes 'timing out'. After a few teething problems, it was dead reliable. I had a 129 before it and the dogs preferred that - better seats for them! :)

Is yours a 500?

It's just the 350 v6, but seems to bowl along nicely and can definitely pick up her skirts when you put your foot down.

I drove a few 911's with the intention of buying one but just couldn't imagine having to do 100 miles on a cold November morning in one. For interest, my shortlist (with comments) was:

911 - Lovely involving drive and would have one as a weekend toy without hesitation, but just didn't fancy one as my "main" car. Ms_Chegg was already referring to them as menoporsches, as this is undoubtably my mid-life crisis car.

XK - A bit too soft and...well...Jaguar. Nice enough, but just didn't feel special.

370z - Bloody quick, but felt like driving a PlayStation. Also the smallest boot/ luggage space of the four and the one most likely to depreciate like out of date yoghurt.

SL - Seems to have the least compromises. Goes well, sounds nice, feels well built and (to me) looks fantastic.

The 350 is the one to have by all accounts. Nearly as quick but without the massive bills (struts are pretty much the same price as mine - a grand a  piece!) just missin that V8 soundtrack.

Many thanks to Wuvvum for his kind assistance this afternoon in getting the replacement tailgate fitted onto the damaged Camry estate. Not something to be done single-handed....

Just been watching Guy Martin do the wall of death. I was scared! I am a big fan of the lad and I was scared he'd hurt himself... again!

Good though, but who would do that on telly LIVE!?

What a legend though. He looked proper pissed off when he was told he couldn't have another attempt I thought!

Not too sure about the live version but Guy is always worth watching. Interesting to watch tho, and the noise from the triple...  :happydance:

he was more than up for it, they should have let him go for it there was enough time.

I too like guy Martin, i think he is fantastic, the bike he built sounded awesome and I particularly liked his pissed off revving of it when he wasn't allowed to do another run.

Went on a long weekend to Peterborough over the weekend, and for all the moaning Amy does about the Meriva smelling of oil every now and again it didn't leak any or run out over the 400 miles we did. The mayo'd up pipes around the engine seemed clearer after the long fast drive there too!

It does wobble a bit under fast braking, and the one remaining westlake is looking a bit tired, so I may buy another 'insert make of the other 3 tyres here', take the fucked spare to the tyre place and get the new tyre put on there, then put the low on tread but ok otherwise westlake in the boot for the spare.

Teaching my cousins 2 year old Turkish-born Syrian daughter to say the names of car makes, got her to learn; BMW, Mercedes and Rover. Also watched a bit of Minder with her and taught her about Arthur Daley and Terry McCann.
