I am having a good day today. The job I had to leave due to lack of transport is taking me back now I have transport and I start anew on Tuesday, which I'm really, really happy about. The other good news is that the assessor has told me the Princess has a bent chassis rail and inner wing, but that she is repairable, I'm currently going through the process for a cash in lieu settlement and my car back so she isn't written off and I'll have the readies to put her right again.

So I'll get to be back at a job that I'm happy enough to do and I'll get my baby back and be able to make her better than before. I am a happy, happy person and felt the need to share the joy because, by jove, it's well overdue that I had some good news!

Just look at the flange you'll get literally crawling up the bonnet of your car when you buy an Alpine radio cassette! :P

a while ago my Brother gave my Mum his Alfa 147 as he no longer needed it, it needed a few jobs doing for it's MOT but as her 145 was getting a bit long in the tooth a deal was struck with the garage that they'd do the work on the 147 and put a fresh 12months MOT on it (around £700 worth) and in return she could just leave them her old 145 as payment and they'd break it for parts. (apparently the garage she uses is a bit of an alfa specialist or something).

Anyway Mum was gutted as she loved her 145 but had to admit she'd prefer the newer 147 so the deal was done. It never sat well with my Mum as we are a car loving family and she'd often talk about it on phhone calls to me etc.

Just been up North for their Golden Wedding Anniversary and she handed me a letter. It was from a chap not to far from where I now live saying he'd bought the car from the garage and was going to restore it with his 2 sons.

She was over the moon and so pleased it hadn't been stripped and killed off. I'm not sure if she was happier about the family get together for her Anniversary or that the car was safe and sound.

1.7. Loads of new bits on it, arches not hanging off it and plenty T&T so should do the job, be a bit of fun and I'll not lose a fortune when I come to sell it.

I'm not a huge fan of modern fords but always fancied one of these.

1.7 = FUN !!

My friend had one from new,and that car went like the wind;at 6000 rpm in top gear,it was doing 120.I always found it hard to keep it under 35 mph,as they want to 'play'. The headlamps are crap though, and the gearknob is bloody freezing..... Love them !

Cool. Looking forward to it. Should be interesting for the Mrs as the fastest car she's driven is a Citroen C1

Rev it to 6000 rpm through the gears and have fun ! They are basically a MK4 Fiesta chassis,so very good on most roads; One day I will have to get one,but im sure id end up bending it !

That Puma looks fab. But if ever a car needed black wheels, that's it!

It isn't that interesting, but should hopefully join the fold next week.

Naturally at the moment it doesn't run and has no tax or mot, so just what I needed when 75% of the current fleet don't work or can't be used!

Panasonic 3DO, perhaps the ultimate in console shite. Unfortunately I can't get it to work and it seems the controller port may be buggered

Today has not been great. A slow day at work, I lose half my kebab on the way back in off break and I had some dire news off MM5 about my Wirral based storage arrangements going tits up.

However, my FED-1 turned up at work from the Ukraine.

I did some cross referencing on the serial number (yes, I am that sad) and it turns out I have a FED-1G, produced in 1954 or thereabouts and the last of its type before the FED-2 began production.

It's a half arsed copy of a pre-war Leica III, and having never used an Ablon when loading film or a rangefinder for shooting, I may have something of a steep learning curve with it - although having studied a few how-to guides on YouTube, it shouldn't prove too difficult. The lens is this funny little lockable M39 50mm that you pull out and twist into place. You focus it with that lever wheel thing to the left of the lens body which aligns the LH viewfinder with a ghosted image you overlay, using the RH box to compose the shot, allowing for a bit of parallax air.

I'm going to move my OM-1 and FED-3 on pretty soon though, along with some more Corgi and Dinky models from my keeps box.

I have quite an odd collection of 35mm camerashite now - it's one of my other passions seeing as how you don't have to deal with nobhead price gouging landlords to keep them around. I really, really want a Rolleicord of some kind - the Lubitels and Yashicas TLRs can go and shit on Len's face for all I care.

List now is:

1955 FED-1G (boss)

1955 Carl Zeiss Werra Olive (utterly mad little thing)

1957 Halina 35X (shiny and a bit shit)

1966 Zorki 11 (shiny and a bit odd)

1966 Yashica Lynx 14 (finally in the UK after being bummed for £21 between HMRC and Parcelcunt, also broken)

19?? FED-3 (for sale)

1971 Olympus FTL (with shitted up focussing screen - I'm looking for another that doesn't cost £££££)

1978 Praktica EE2 (Pete-M's, has the LOUDEST shutter in the world - CRUNCH)

197? Olympus OM1n - (for sale).

2008 Nikon D60 ('shit' DSLR, according to my Canon toting poseur Uni colleagues who can GTF).

I thought it said Panasonic. Never heard of it! Just looked it up here:

I regret selling/giving away my collection.

My mate Gary at school was Nintendo mad and managed to buy a Virtual Boy in 1996. It gave you a headache after about 10 minutes. I had a Supergun and a few JAMMA boards a couple of years ago which sold for fuck-all on eBay and nearly broke my heart. Bought and flogged a Sega Saturn on for pennies, and had an Amiga CD32 for a bit but sold it on after getting a daft offer on it from a friend of a friend. I'd like to try an Atari Jaguar - that would be a laugh.
