Maybe not, but the gearbox in Super Es is very high geared in top (4th). You make progress by belting downhill at comparatively high speeds, 80-90, then use the momentum to get you up inclines. A surprisingly fast car to drive from Cork to Dublin when half the motorway wasn't built yet.

Totally agree, most older small Citroens were excellent at fast a-b times, for reasons as you say above

If anyone had a more interesting first drive than this, I'd like to hear about it.

My mate passed her test on the Monday, on the Thursday another friend spent a couple of hours fitting a new interior to her Ka out of a scrapper, 300 yards down the road she wrote it off.

And we wonder why new drivers have to spend £2k+ on insurance.

Gary is actually really properly interested (and more talented) then Martin, simple as.

if you like prog etc then listen to nick masons saucer full of secrets, early pink Floyd materials mainly. Gary is in the band on guitar and vocals and it’s great

Lovely little thing that was.  Wouldn't have paid that for it mind...

Today I learned that a small knob of butter in when you're boiling spuds stops the foam in the water. So it doesn't come pissing out from under the lid.

@Supernaut how did the first day go?

Long day. Tired.

Fairly chill and they seem open to me doing a 9 day fortnight, plus they close an hour early on Friday anyway.

Going by some of the phonecalls today, I'll soon have material for the motor trade thread...

Glad you made it through, top effort!

Hope tomorrow is as engaging and slightly less tiring

9 day fortnight sounds decent - have done it before and nice having the long weekend

This one worked till the end , but the fire and gas tap leaked .  The hot water boiler failed and it all got replaced with a combi ..

I got one just after the tax was paid.  I pay by direct debit and knew it had been paid.
