I haz done a plumb. Held 5 bar pressure, which is surprising with my shonky soldering. Next weeks's excitement:  Radiators.

Slightly confused about the Asians on the course. This is week two. Week one they pretty much all turned up 30 - 45 minutes late. This week 5 of them didn't come back. One who did return just left his bench with tools and sneaked off after 20 minutes while the teacher was demonstrating.

Why sign up if you don't want to learn? You're taking places from people who do want to go, and wasting your money.

Sounds like the British Whizzair builders and plumbers, who get their qualifications on the flight over.

Nice curves! I'd have to practise to get decent endfeed joints, I usually chicken out and use Yorkshires. Gets pricey on bigger stuff though...

Coffee break with beans bought back from Nicaragua and gifted by a mate. Looking for to this as had run out of ground and lent the grinder to another mate.

Found a suitable appliance in the house i'm working in.

Happy days :-)
Got a list of advisories to sort out (mostly crispy suspension bushes/bits) once we get some decent weather and I can find some time - where does it go to?

It was possibly me.

But knowing early visa speedos it is probably just broken. You would have to try really hard to get one to 100mph plus (unless it happens to be a mille piste or chrono or something)

I have just realised that today 24th January is the 30th anniversary that I passed my driving test. :common007:

Already had my first car - vermillion '79 Mini 1000. It was weird driving to work later that day without a passenger.

I remember that feeling. And also the weird feeling of seeing the old bill and it taking a while to remember that I did actually have a license and could legally be on the road.

Yeah but could you recognise a potential cop car behind you from it's headlights?

On first drives alone.

My first drive alone after getting my driver's license was a memorable one, in early March, digging the Volvo out of the snow pile where it had been sitting all winter then be driving in proper winter conditions with a car that wasn't running right and then backfired? so one muffler split and the car lost almost all engine power.

And this also meant that it was loud, so I found out it was wise to drive an hour to the nearest Biltema as they had exhaust parts for these and were open late. Right after I turned onto the main road, I was stopped by an unmarked police car which amazingly let me drive on, then I had to drive an hour with a mess of a car to Biltema where I changed a lot of the exhaust system in the parking lot in the winter darkness before I drove home again.

If anyone had a more interesting first drive than this, I'd like to hear about it.

On returning to car park this made me smile, guess which one is mine, think it holds up pretty well in the beauty category and probably wins in everything else ( reliability ! Economy etc )

Just don't look at the rear end ( hatchback)

Which is why I am eyeing up laguna coupes.

I was chatting with an old friend and asked what they were up to these days. They said "digital marketing"

Maybe not, but the gearbox in Super Es is very high geared in top (4th). You make progress by belting downhill at comparatively high speeds, 80-90, then use the momentum to get you up inclines. A surprisingly fast car to drive from Cork to Dublin when half the motorway wasn't built yet.
